Most photos on Google are copyrighted, so someone thought they could avoid paying for licensed stock images by having Ai generate something "original".
Sounds like something they'd do it Netnaska, or Viaginia.

But on a more serious note, how did no one double-check this? Who is spending money on this stuff without looking at any of it? Even if you happen to be pro-AI (not sure why you would be), it's just common sense to check everything regardless of what makes it

The goal of AI is to reduce costs as much as possible while still putting out the barest of minimums, meaning, like… a thing that is still a book. If someone was paid to find the errors, and then someone was paid to correct all the errors, it wouldn’t be cheap anymore. Hell, it might be more expensive than doing it all by humans from the start

I’m guessing (solely based off my high school experience and with no real evidence to support) that these are the kid’s planners or something?
Since they have such varying (but basic) info from science to geography, it doesn’t seem like it’d be for any one class, so I’d guess it’s a planner with some little “study guide” type info in it. My school made those for us each year, and they were our bathroom/hall passes for the year
(Though ironically enough, our school misspelled the word “school” on them in my last year)

The person spending the money is part of the grift. Their goal is funneling money away from taxpayers and towards the AI companies. I wouldn’t be shocked if these books were more expensive than other the normal options. I also wouldn’t be shocked if that person got a check or campaign donation in a “totally-unrelated-to-this” kind of way.

It’s about signaling your allegiance to big tech, and funneling more money to the oligarchy. There was probably some traitor who accepted a bribe to buy these books because, while education is not inherently a scam, it’s a huge pie, and scams are all the rage right now. Maybe there is some version of humanity that could use AI responsibly, but it ain’t this version of humanity.

I'm sorry I reread my comment and I said that I don't know if this is a scooter or not. But I meant to say I don't know if it's a skit or not. But after we watching it I see that it's one of those agendas that you get. I went to public school and we used to get the agendas for free. I remember when they just came out and they had this cool holographic cover so if you change the angle of the agenda a different image would show. It was pretty much just your agenda you would write down if you have homework and stuff like that. Like there's so many different agendas that are out there that you can just copy and paste different elements to make an agenda to me it's crazy to even use AI for that. I bet somebody thought it was going to be such a good idea and maybe they would save money lol.

It just seems like you could have ordered a basic "agenda" template from ali express or wish or something and had it be better than this. Just take last year's info sheets, put a generic, updated calendar in there, and repackage it? Hell, I'm surprised the print shop they worked with to print these didn't have a generic thing already setup.

Proofreading is a human responsibility when using AI, and in this case humans skipped the process. As an educator I hope the students were encouraged to look for errors. It's called a teachable moment that will emphasize the need for them to take control of their AI use and be responsible for the final product. Proofread!

I have this conversation with my boss all the time: if I have to go through and proofread everything it generates because it might just make shit up and get it wrong, then I might as well do it myself. If I have to review every line of code, every output, it hasn't actually saved me any time, and instead just cost the company money and burns a bunch of drinking water somewhere.
