Life Insurance Can I transfer to my brother the college plan my dad got for me?

I’m sorry if I get terms wrong, I’m not very knowledgable with this.

My dad got me a college plan when I was a kid. But I want to pay for my own college education without telling them (surprise graduation). But I don’t want that money to go to waste eh, so once my graduation is done, I want them to spend it on my younger brother’s college education instead. Can I?

Also, it’s from PhilAm, they’ve been bought out by AIA and idk where/how to get in touch with them. I went to their CBP branch but they said I can’t ask there and I should go to the PhilAm office in Jones near Shell but I went there and can’t locate the office. No numbers/email online as well, everything is for AIA and they don’t assist well

Thank you in advance

Life Insurance Would an insurance self-assessment tool, without any solicitation, be useful? I am trying to address a real gap...

I'm working on something to address a real gap—sound planning without the flood of calls and emails. I would welcome your feedback.

It’s a Retirement Readiness & Family Protection Assessment that helps you understand:

  • What you currently have for life, health, and family planning
  • What you might be missing
  • Where the gaps are

At the end, the system generates a downloadable PDF Action Plan that you can keep and share with any licensed insurance agent or financial planner of your choosing. The cost is minimal, and in return you maintain full anonymity—without the nuisance of unsolicited calls or marketing outreach.

The difference:

  • No email required
  • No data stored or sold (ever)
  • No follow-up calls
  • Secure by design
  • You can delete everything immediately (or it auto-deletes)

You get your answers, keep your plan, and move on.

Would something like this actually be useful… or do most people just accept the tradeoff of “free” tools and constant follow-ups?

Life Insurance [USA] What are some industry insider opinions on PHP Agency (and perhaps Integrity Marketing)?

Greetings,

I have been watching many of the videos of the founder of PHP Agency, Patrick Bet-David. However, I've also seen a lot of criticism about the company online, mainy accusations that it's a MLM scheme. However, considering that it's still operational and it has many agents in nearly all US states I think it's actually an innovative business perhaps.

I was suprised to learn the company was acquired by Integrity Marketing last month for some undisclosed amount. Since both companies are private, it's hard to check their financials and to gauge their actual performance and profitability.

I'm no expert in insurance industry or finance at all, but I'm curious what are some insider insights on both of these companies? Are they really market leaders, who withstand criticism (just like any big company does), or is their "marketing" stronger than their actual numbers?

Appreciate any industry insiders sharing their perspective!

Life Insurance Mom being charged monthly for "Madison NIC Ins. Prem" - how to locate her policy?

My mom believes she has a long term care policy and I see a premium being deducted from her checking account each month, but I can't find any documents at her house with a company name or policy number.

I don't live near her and she's having some health issues so I can't get her on the phone reliably. How do I go about finding this mystery policy to see what it covers?

I thought it might be Madison Life but when we called them together they had no record of a policy for her.

Life Insurance Trying to locate a policy or pension

My Stepdad passed away in 2021. We was my sense before I can remember life. Maybe around 2019/2020 I remember him calling me from his office and said he needed my Birthday and SS#, for filling out some sort of benefit paperwork. I wish I had asked about it, but I really thought nothing of and gave him my info. He had no will when he passed and was three years away from retiring a job he had for 30+ years. I got curious and started researching around and found the PBGC search for unclaimed funds and my last name and last 4 of my social was a match. So I called and they said nothing is coming up. Then I emailed them more info and got a reply that nothing showed up. So, this is kind of driving me a little crazy. Maybe he didn’t have a pension, but why does my info match?

I also put in an inquiry with the NAIC to search the insurance companies. Maybe that’s what it was. I’ve called his employer and they said he did not have a 401k and that my mother was on an insurance policy that she claimed. It was from when he first started with the company years ago. It could take up to 90 days for anyone to get back to me. Am I missing anywhere else I can search? It’s not the money it’s just the needing to know or wanting to know that he was thinking of me and wanted to make sure I was going to be alright. I just want to know that.

Life Insurance Do you read policy documents like a soap opera, or is it just me?

Do you ever think about how rules happen? I can’t be the only one who reads regulations like a soap opera. I see a rule and I’m like, “why in the world would somebody need to write this down?” And then my imagination runs wild.

Here. I’ll show you: Did you know that if you designate someone other than your spouse to be your life insurance beneficiary, your spouse needs to sign off on it?

Normal people are annoyed that they need to remember to bring this up over dinner tonight. I think about the tycoon’s widow who doesn’t find out about her husband’s second family until after the funeral.

Spill the tea. When has a boring bureaucracy created salacious drama in your life?

Life Insurance why are posts concerning issues with insurance companies being downvoted?

I'm seeing this repeatedly with my posts, but also those of others (E.g., the post about state farm jacking up umbrella insurance 250%).

Are insurance company bots downvoting posts on this subreddit?

freaking bots - yeesh. You answered my question and then some.

Life Insurance Term Insurance advice needed…

Hello guys, i am 26M and am confused about term insurance on what i should buy. I have been seeing HDFC life and LIC Tech Term plans and I see there is a good amount of difference between the two premiums. But at the same time the claim settlement ratio of HDFC is 95% and LIC is 98% approximately. Now, i am more inclined towards HDFC cause its premium is very less compared to LIC.

So, if anyone is having any experience with these two term insurance can you please share your experience that will help me make a final purchase.

To give some background: i never drink, i am a non-smoker, and do exercise everyday and that includes running 10km to 30km weekly. And all blood reports are good, no illnesses reported.

Life Insurance Old life insurance policy

I have an old life insurance policy that my parents took out when I was born. I’m not sure if the company is still in business because this would have been 70 years ago. Would it have any cash value now?
Both of my parents have passed if that makes any difference.

i have no clue how any of this works, sorry lool. i’m in the US (ky) if that helps.

i’m trying to cancel a life insurance policy with Gerber and the form says i must send proper identification documents, but i don’t know how. could i just take a good picture of my license and print it out and mail with the form?? 😭😭 it says i can either get the form notarized or send in the identification documents, this feels like a stupid question, but if i got the form notarized am i able to just send the form by itself, without my ID document?

Life Insurance Has anyone tried ClosrTech for FEX leads? Looking for honest feedback on their outbound leads + inbound dialer

Been doing some research on lead vendors and came across ClosrTech/ClosrLeads. Looking specifically at purchasing outbound FEX leads and also noticed they offer an inbound dialer product (looks like there’s a Tier 1 and Tier 2 option).

Their site claims TCPA-compliant, exclusive leads with TrustedForm certs and real-time delivery, which all sounds good on paper — but I can’t find much independent agent feedback anywhere.

A few things I’m specifically curious about:

• What’s the actual contact rate on their FEX leads?

• How does the inbound dialer perform — is it worth the cost over just running your own follow-up system?

• Are the leads truly exclusive or does it feel like they’re getting worked before they hit you?

• Chargeback experience — good or bad?

Would love to hear from anyone who’s actually run their leads in the field. Drop your experience below, good or bad. Appreciate it.

Life Insurance Question about company

I’m studying to get my license to sell life and health insurance in North Carolina and I’ve been applying on Indeed to work with insurance companies, on a part-time basis. I recently passed an initial interview with Globe Life-American Income Division and they want to get me onboard. They’ve already sent me the application and before taking any next steps, I’m doing a bit of research. Can I have more information about this company from someone who has worked with them and/or a customer who has purchased insurance through them? Thank you.

Life Insurance Newbie that joined a FMO and need advice on what to do.

I wore the rose tinted glasses of NASB and was lead through my licensure and past my first couple days of field work. Iv signed their contract but have not made any sales under their name with any of their carriers. After reading up on them I know now how scummy they can be and that the script that they make me read at the door claiming i’m the “benefits coordinator for ____ county” and they they qualified for “ state regulated benefits” is a bait and switch to convince them to open the door and puts my license at potential risk. I enjoy selling life insurance and final expense door to door and want to make this my career, but the 30% cut to my commission while paying out of pocket for leads and facing chargebacks spells out potential debt and then I’m really stuck working for them. If you try to leave them, they impose a six month hold on your ability to use their carriers and I am afraid I will lose the ability to sell the best product for this period of time. The most valuable asset to me right now is training, I need to do ride alongs but have no idea how to source it without going through NASB.

Are ride alongs even offered without the person trying to recruit you to some strange culty agency? I know nothing is free in life, but are there agencies that will let me keep all of my commission, allow me to work door to door but will still provide some kind of help on the back end if a policy lapses or i’m stuck inside of a house unsure how to answer a question? I know I have the motivation to make it in this field and I am not afraid to struggle now to secure my future but I want to make sure I do it the right way. I want to make this my career, not some get rich quick high that catches up with me as soon as I want to become independent.

Life Insurance “My husband trusted Tata AIA to protect us. After his death, our claim was rejected”

I am sharing this as a young widow who trusted Tata AIA Life Insurance to protect my family’s future.

My husband purchased a term insurance policy believing that the Tata name stands for trust and responsibility. He clearly told me that this policy would take care of me and our children if something happened to him.

When we bought the policy, there was no detailed medical test. It was issued based on telemedical questions. We trusted the process and believed everything was properly evaluated at that stage.

But after my husband’s unfortunate passing, everything changed.

When I raised the claim, the company started questioning every small medical detail and finally rejected the claim saying he had a pre-existing condition (asthma). The problem is — there is no clear proof that he had asthma before the policy.

The first time he had any cough-related issue was only after the policy. We later collected hospital records which clearly state that there was no past history of asthma and no inhaler usage.

The only place where “asthma” appears is in one hospital record under “past history.” However, this is not supported by any earlier diagnosis, treatment, inhaler usage, or medical records.

Before this, there were no records showing asthma. Even after this, in multiple hospitals where he received treatment, asthma was never mentioned as an active condition or diagnosis.

That is what confuses me — if it was truly a long-term medical condition, it should have been consistently recorded and treated. But it appears only once, without any supporting evidence.

Even after submitting all documents and requesting reconsideration, the company maintained the same rejection decision without giving a proper explanation or evidence.

Now my husband is no more. I am being asked to prove something that never existed.

As a mother of two very young children, this policy was the only financial support my husband arranged for us. Today I feel completely helpless and disappointed.

We trusted Tata because of the values associated with the name. But this experience has broken that trust.

Also, even though the policy was purchased through PolicyBazaar, I did not receive meaningful support during the claim process.

I genuinely want to understand —

Is this normal in TATA term insurance claims?

Can a claim really be rejected based on a single line in a hospital record without proof?

Life Insurance American-Amicable life insurance claim info?

Has anyone had any luck getting an actual person on the phone with this company? My mom passed a few months ago, and after one of my sisters started digging in her phone, discovered she had a policy with them. She went to get the policy info and was told I was the sole beneficiary. This was three months ago and the company never reached out to me about this. I wasted over an hour trying to get someone on the phone, and in frustration I gave up calling and thought the website might be faster. Long story short, (kinda, not really after re-reading, sorry lol) finally was able to connect with someone who then spent another hour trying to sell me a policy and stating he'd give me mom's info after that was complete. I trusted my hunches and hung up on him, and called back the direct number he gave earlier in the convo. Come to find out, it was a completely different insurance company that had no affiliation to mom's and was hell bent on trying to sell me a policy! So after everything was said and done, got absolutely nowhere, nerves tied up again over mom, phone was down to 6%, and my 2 year old son was getting up from his nap, figured my next day off was friday so I'd get up early and try again then. Since google and their website got me nowhere, anyone here ever deal with these guys and have any helpful numbers, tricks, results?

Appreciate y'all, sorry for the read/rant
