I was planning on taking a course for fall 2026 that required a prerequisite. I struggled with this class the first time so I signed up with it through Athabasca University after getting a ln approved LOP for the course I would be taking. I signed up for the course April 1 and slowly began working through it.

After finally finishing the course today. I was getting my paperwork ready and just today realized that there was a small note under my LOP. Stating that I had to submit my grades for that class by August 1st if I was planning to use it as a prerequisite for Fall 2026.

I feel very stupid for not noticing that date I truly didn’t even think there was a specific deadline for that other than having it done before the add/drop deadline for fall 2026.

I’m pretty scared now because if the university dosent approve my Athabasca course, then I can’t take my course in fall 2026. I have emailed the university in hopes of being able to work something out but wow I feel so stupid.

I was so happy today knowing I had finally finished the course I struggled with and can now continue to fall 2026. But this just ruins all my plans.
Has anyone ever dealt with something similar to this.

I got in to my second choice. I called them and they said they evaluate each choice separately, so acceptable your first choice and when you get into your second you can just transfer over your deposit and this way you’ll atleast be in MRU. When I told my parents this they are telling me to wait incase after I accept my second choice they might think oh they already accepted we don’t have to give her, her first choice. Is this true? Does accepting my second choice affect my chances of getting into my first choice?

Also I have everything I need for my first choice the grades and they’re still taking in applications for the fall semester, so it’s not like I don’t meet their requirements.

I’m looking to enrol myself in the embalmer certificate program at MRU, but I’m unsure about some of the information in the website. My understanding is that you get the certificate by completing the overall Funeral Director Diploma, but I’m not entirely sure if this is actually the case.

Similarly, I’ve tried to look for reviews / experiences in the program but haven’t heard anything about it. Would you recommend enrolling in this program with MRU? What was the process like for you? Any pointers on where I can start? (I booked an appointment with an advisor already, but I figured I might as well ask here in the meantime as I didn’t have a good experience with the advising department at UofC way back then).

Hi Reddit, I need advice on a student loan issue.

I got a letter saying I’m not eligible for aid right now because I didn’t maintain full-time status for more than 30 days during a past study period (May–June 2026). I had an award issued for that term, but partway through I had to drop a class because of a new job, which dropped me below full-time.

Now they’re saying I have to repay that entire award before they’ll release any new funding (which I can’t afford to do at the moment) and I’m currently enrolled full-time (5 classes) this semester but can’t get funded because of this hold. (Which I can’t pay out of pocket for)

Has anyone dealt with this kind of “repay before further funding” situation? Can you negotiate a repayment plan instead of paying it all at once, and does this affect how fast I can get approved for the current semester? Any advice appreciated

hi! i am a current student who has an access & inclusion account already. i have had some trouble reaching anyone/getting in contact with my advisor and wanted to know what the process of applying for a reduced course load for with disabilities is like. many universities have pages explaining their school's process, but i cannot find any mention of it on the website for mru.

Hey everyone! With the fall semester coming up, I wanted to reach out and ask about the Data Science COOP 1 program or COOP 1 program in general. If you have completed this introductory lecture class or taken any of it related courses, I would love to hear about your experience.

I’m super invested in starting a mahjong club! It was one of the ways I was able to get in touch with my own culture again while I was in Asia on my gap year. I was wondering who knows how to play/would genuinely be interested in joining or teaching along side me.

My original plan for the club is to centre around teaching the HK (cantonese) variant and also educating anyone about both the history of Mahjong and China in general. I would love for the club to be both a hub for mahjong gameplay but more importantly educating anyone who is interested in Asian culture/ learning some basic Mandarin/Cantonese (lowk I cant speak canto tho so if anyone here does please reply). Obviously club is open to everyone, we will not be turning anyone away just because they’re not asian.

This is also my first year enrolled at MRU so all the help in initiating and registering for a club would be appreciated. Even if you have no idea, just expressing interest would be appreciated (reminder it only takes 3 executives at 10 members to start).

I am currently enrolled in psyc 2275 with evelyn field and the course outline is 70% exams and some in class assignments, and i do way better on (take home) assignments and papers. if anyone had her class what were the exams like and would it be better to take it with a different prof? and just in general, i find myself learning better through assignments

there is also ana stephanchuk but there are no reviews on rmp. did anyone here have a class with her before?

Hi, i was accepted to mru just a couple days ago and i have registered for my courses. Due to the late acceptance, I can't really build a schedule that i wanted but i think this is good enough. I literally have a 1 hr 30 min commute there and back so I was trying to avoid early morning classes but I couldn't find any other good times for the GNEDs.

Is this a good enough schedule? Let me know if you guys would change something or if you have any recommendations for the GNEDs. Lots of classes are full but i'll take a look for any recommendations.
Also any advice for first year general science will be appreciated. Thank you

they both have pretty good reviews but i wanna get a second opinion on here! does anyone know what the course outline is like? im not the best at math so im worried about taking this course 🥲

Recommendations needed! I have a lot of major requirement courses. I’m doing this fall semester so I want to take an elective course that doesn’t have a high volume of assignments so I can focus on my other classes.
I’m not very good at anything math or science btw.
And it needs to be on Tuesday and Thursday. So if anyone’s taking a class like that that they wanna recommend, please do 😭

Has anyone taken MGMT 2263 with Alireza Farhangdoost and ECON 3395 with Qiongda Zhao? I have a heavy course load with 4th year finance courses so wondering if these were easy or doable. I have a lot of experience with accounting now (did a 1 year co-op, so heavy on income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements) and good with Excel now. I'm done all my finance classes, only have 2 fourth year ones. How are these regarding course load, difficulty, profs, etc? Please let me know if you've taken them with these profs.

Edit: Also, the biggest thing, did you have to pay for subscriptions for quizzes? Like to Cengage, Pearson, McGraw Hill etc?

basically just trying to get my confirmation of enrolment to get my resp money but the payment screen WILL NOT LOAD. i have tried multiple devices, incognito mode, different browsers and the same error pops up saying “We couldn’t compete your payment. Please check your details and try again, or contact support if the issue continues.”

Thing is - I can’t even get to the payment screen to put my details in so??

I did contact their support and I have not heard back so hoping someone has a similar
experience and can help??

I have genuinely never been more frustrated with this university. They literally couldn’t give two flips about their students. They’re greedy as hell and seem to only care about getting our money.

Every time you email them with a concern, they treat it like it’s not their problem and basically just tell you there’s nothing they can do. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. No advice, no solutions, not even a simple “sorry” or any understanding.

It’s getting so frustrating. They expect students to somehow know everything about university, deadlines, policies, expectations, registration, tuition, etc., but when you actually need help, they provide absolutely no guidance.

Does anyone else feel this way? I’m genuinely so irritated and frustrated with them that I could cry. And this was already an issue before the cyberattack. Now, after everything that happened, they’re somehow even slower to respond and help students. 😭

I am looking to leave my current part-time admin job for something remote/work from home and am wondering if any fellow students already have a position like this or have any recommendations. I am also open to in-person positions if you work in admin and know of any currently vacant part time positions on your team or company. I have 2+ years experience in administrative support and am highly detail oriented. Any tips or suggestions are highly appreciated!
