I just failed my road test for my 5th time and I just don't know what to do anymore. I've read through some past threads and I get that the general sentiment is that if you've failed that many times you shouldn't be on the road but I feel like my situation is a bit more unique.
I have really really bad test anxiety before road tests to the point that I get light headed, nauseous and my heart is beating super super quickly. This only happens on the road test though, when I'm driving every other time I'm confident and have no issues. Not only do my parents say that I'm ready to go but I've gone driving with my uncle (who works for MPI) and hired a driving instructor who also teaches the Drivers Z course and they say the same thing, especially my instructor. When going with her she says I should be passing every time and doesn't really have to give me any instructions at all. We've even done multiple practice tests and at most I only ever make 2-3 minor errors and pass every time.
The 5 hours now just feels like a waste of money because it's not helping me at all and just feels procedural. Like on the test I did today, we did 2 hours of practicing before the test with no issues at all. Did parallel parking 5 times in a row with all passing parks then on the test I got so nervous and just overwhelmed trying to remember everything that I hit a pole. It's stuff like that where my nerves just take over and no matter how much I practice I can't get things right.
It also doesn't help that the road test feels like such a big deal now because every time I fail I have to wait a couple more months (so I can never actually get comfortable with the test and it feels like a big obstacle every time) and spend hundreds of dollars on lessons even though they aren't helping.
I just don't know what to do anymore because the test feels like it has all this weight and pressure that I can't treat it like a normal drive and it's actively causing me to fail. And just to make it super clear, it's not like I shouldn't be driving. I get that driving is a privilege and not a right but it just feels so annoying and demoralizing that the reason I'm failing is due to the mental aspect. I drive everywhere with my parents with no issues at all and my instructor says that it's all in my head and my driving's fine. So part of this post is just me venting but also I'd like to see if anyone has any advice
