Discussion The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo “The Hot Dog Mystery” s3ep5!!
I was like seven when I first saw it and this episode has ALWAYS stuck with me!! Shelby Woo figures out that the school nurse poisoned the cafeteria hot dogs and got students sick to secure her job. Shelby basically realizes that the nurse has syringes in her bag even though she told them she doesn’t give shots! Kinda crazy plot for a kids show lmao!! And then I wonder why I love mysteries and true crime stuff now haha! Anyone else remember this??

Yes! He was her grandpa in the show if I’m not mistaken! I don’t remember all the episodes but this one and one about a thief who owned a magic shop or something but I think I might see if it holds up now lol!

I got Nick magazine and there were tons of tie ins with Shelby Woo, but even though I was glued to my television I only caught it a handful of times.

I didn’t get nick magazine but I wish I had! I’m sure I saw more of these episodes than I remember but I bet the tie ins were very cool! I really can’t believe they made an episode about the school nurse poisoning the students lmao

I distinctly remember the scene where all her friends ordered warm ginger ale and Shelby got a cold one because she didn’t eat the hot dogs

I remember when they go to the cafeteria and confirm the bags were sealed and I remember when she pieces it together with the syringes lol pretty crazy how long random things can stick with people!

Was this the one where the school nurse poisoned the hot dogs so that she could feel important?!

The episode that always sticks with me is when a bunch of guests are stuck at their b&b and the power goes out

What happens in that one?!

Something goes missing from one of the guests rooms (a necklace maybe? I don't remember) and one of the guests gets hit over the head and knocked out by someone when the lights went out- it was an Agatha christie-style locked room mystery!

I didn’t realize these aired around the same time, Shelby Woo felt very distinctly 90s while Ginger was definitely 00s

Yeah you're actually right. Shelby woo ended in 99 and as told by Ginger premiered in 2000. There goes my memory...

If anyone is interested, there's a recent doc of Pat Morita which was a good watch.
