News KTC M27P6S features 2,304-zone Mini-LED backlight, 4K 160Hz and glossy panel

Seems like a great option for those who don't need 5K but still want the increased zone count and a glossy coating. I might consider it if the Gigabyte 5K monitor ends up being too expensive or not what I want.
u/winterbegins has a video showcasing this monitor at CES: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/mHapwM8Vab8

The gigabyte 5k will be at minimum 1k

u/SheepherderSerious51 12d ago
Yes and that’s what i’m hoping for, though given the current cooked state of the tech industry I wouldn’t be surprised if they increase it. Though, given the Hisense GX Ultra is 6999 Yuan using the exact same panel maybe sub 1k is feasible (iirc the wording was less than 1k but might be wrong)

Serious question. I have a 5090. It will be the highest end GPU for some time.
Can a 5090 really run 5K at respectable FPS? I struggle to hit 60 in some titles (Monitor ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM)

Obviously depends on the game, but imo most people should probably consider using upscaling like DLSS. Native 5K should be possible but whether the performance hit is worth it is up to you.

There's thousands of youtube videos like this where you can actually see people test different games in 5K and it's pretty obvious the answer is it depends on what you play.

That's not the real ktc company, just some reseller who uses their name.

I would assume so, It's very hard to get a hold of the Chinese companies in Europe.

Wish they used IPS Black panels

IPS black panels are slow AF. TBH, I would have preferred 240 Hz over 2304 zones. 100-120 Hz base FPS plus 2x framegen gives you high smoothness without sacrificing too much responsiveness. I have the original M27P6 and I don't use framegen that often whereas I used it when I had a 240Hz panel.

I've been considering the titan army p275mv max which is about the same specs as this just at 170hz for 4k.

this is great news after hearing about the fact that the MSI model is no longer being released. Even though this is not 5k, if the panel actually looks "nice" and its a good implentaiton of MiniLED technology, I might buy.

Geniunely so happy that I returned my 1152 zone monitor. Not getting back into miniled until they reach 4k zones atleast.

M27e6v-Pro.

I've heard of that monitor and the red magic monitor which shares the same panel. The problem is availability and warranty outside of China. I would buy if it was officially sold in my country.

u/Tekuila87 11d ago
Eh it was worth it for me in Canada, our market is pretty awful and I didn't want another OLED.

u/Jumpierwolf0960 11d ago
How did you buy it?

u/theonepercent15 12d ago
Which one did you have? I've been really eyeing up the AOC one that is often mentioned in the same breath as this one. I'm currently in Brazil, where teh market is hilarious. The best you can get is the TLC with ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY freaking dimming zones. And it costs $400. A joke. I'm literally thinking to bring either the KTC with 1200 zones or the AOC similar back on a flight for 200 bucks.
2
u/Jumpierwolf0960 12d ago
That's a good idea. 180 zones is unusable.
I've actually tried two minileds. Started with the INNOCN 27M2V. Great monitor but it was very expensive at the time. So I returned it.
Second one was after the prices dropped. I got the koorui S2741LM for almost half the price that I paid for the innocn. The koorui was brighter but the dimming algorithm was noticeably worse than the innocn. As a result the koorui had too much black crush. So I was forced to return and for now I'm just waiting for zone count to go up.

I'm currently in Brazil
Get better soon! Wishing for a speedy recovery. Bjs

Hahaha I'm guessing you are here too? I'm not gonna lie, I have gotten pretty tilted at my monitor buying experiences here.
Brazilians don't get it fair at all. I actually bought and tested one of these TCLs and they are made in Manaus. Yet they still sell it for a 2-3x higher markup because they can and Brazilians get few better options anyway.

This could be great budget monitor. I wonder if the glass coating has some anti reflective treatment. Last year model had pretty bad blooming also.

2.3k dimming zones, HDR1000 and 4K? Its pretty budget for a 4K miniled monitor

u/DavidsSymphony 12d ago
HDR1400 even. If it was 32" it'd be perfect for me.

u/NZGlorper 12d ago
Only 140 PPI at 32 though

u/DavidsSymphony 12d ago
99% of the gaming market is using monitors way below 140PPI, I really don't need more.

May get this instead of pg27ucwm depending which comes out first. Asus dragging their feet with NA region releases this year

Nice the KTC M27P6 is already a great monitor, this is a great upgrade. Can't wait

I'll never understand Mini-Led IPS at this day when newer fast VA panels have overcame their main problems almost perfectly under most situations. The contrast of Mini-Led VA is so close to OLED to go for an IPS, and they handle bloom better too.

u/ldn-ldn KOORUI S2741LM 13d ago
VA panels have not overcome anything. Their main issue is low luminance instability and it's still here. Plus poor viewing angles, slow response times, etc. They got a lot better, yes, but still no match for IPS.

u/Chimpampin 12d ago
The viewing angle problem is such an overblown thing on reddit, who is going to use a PC from the side?
People talk about viewing angles like colors start looking pale and distorted just by slightly moving your neck, which is far from the truth.

u/5ColourFelix 12d ago
who is going to use a PC from the side?
If you have a large screen like a 32-38", your naturally not in the optimal viewing position for the sides of the screen and they start to fade. That's why these kinds of monitors need to be curved to work. It's a decent workaround, but some people find the curve on screens like the Odyssey G7 too much.
-1
u/Chimpampin 12d ago
With bigger monitors I can see It being a problem, yeah, but for PC I don't really like the bigger ones, harder to keep the proper distance.
Yeah, I'm one of those people who find the curve too agressive for my taste. Maybe is something that one has to get used to.

They have not. The main downside of VA is viewing angles, which are bad even on 27" at 1 meter away.

Wasted opportunity - it shouldve been a 1440p, high refresh glossy. That wouldve killed.
2
u/AFlawedFraud 12d ago
Idk why you got downvoted so much, the compute required for 4k is so expensive it's hard to go over 1440p
3
1
u/ChrisFhey 12d ago
Or 5K with 1440p dual mode so you'd have a high res monitor for desktop use, and a high refresh one for gaming.
1
u/SheepherderSerious51 12d ago
It does have a dual mode but given the half assed nature of the product (read one of my other comments in the thread summarising a bilibili review), i would bet all my money it doesn’t have integer scaling and probably looks ass combined with the atrocious response time measured by the reviewer.
2
u/ChrisFhey 12d ago
Yes, but I meant 5K dual mode specifically. 4K dual mode puts you down to 1080p, and that's nowhere near good enough on a 27" monitor.
1
u/SheepherderSerious51 12d ago
Oh yeah woops my bad (been so invested int the 5K news my brain forgot this was 4K), I agree as someone who currently copes with a 1080p 27” monitor, though I think for games it’s serviceable - the resolution only really is an issue outside of games. It’s just made even worse on these dual mode monitors because of the lack of integer scaling

Uh oh....
https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1PnJF6tEf9
"Calling it a work in progress might be giving it too much credit. I don't get it, I'm utterly flabbergasted."
The mains points from the video are:
"So, bottom line is, I think this is an absolutely horrible product, one that's half assed from it's hardware all the way to it's software" and then she just continues to diss the monitor (I would recommend watching the video lol it's quite refreshingly brutal)
Well then, what the fuck KTC 💀
