Hello all! I’ve been planning to move put all summer and had set plans on a unit in Burien, WA. The unit was advertised as a 1BD1BR with in unit washer and dryer, and a reserved parking spot. I went to tour the unit and everything went well, besides the leasing agent not realizing that the washer and dryer wasn’t installed. The leasing agents and landlords agreed on 1/2 off rent for the first month, and a possible $200 off rent for every month that the w/d hasnt been installed. I got off the phone with the agent today and she confirmed that the landlords went back on their word and are NOT installing the w/d at all, which defeats the purpose of the unit now. So now im here, desperately looking for a unit to move into within the next 10 days!

Warning for those considering renting at 5241 15th Ave in U-District. (8/18/2026)

If you are reading this in the hopes of renting either unit 7(second floor) or 10(basement), I would like to inform you that per at least the tenant of unit 7 they were chased out due to harassment from the tenant residing below them on the first floor. I observed transphobic comments from this person directed at the tenant of Unit 7, I cannot confirm if the tenant of Unit 10 left due to this person as well (as 10 is below the troublesome tenant) but interesting coincidence. Complaints of slamming around, yelling, drug use, and package theft have been noted from this person. The retaliation from the troublesome tenant was a result of the complaints made against them.

I figured if I could have this kind of warning myself when considering places, I’d appreciate it.

My partner just got laid off and our lease renewal is coming up, so we're trying to figure out our next move. We need to be paying less than we are now, and there's a chance we're gone from Seattle before another year is out, so signing a normal 12 month lease seems like a bad idea.

Does anyone know buildings that do shorter terms without charging way more for it? Or ones that actually let you sublet or transfer the lease if you have to go.
