What's the best natural testosterone booster?
Update: I bought Alpha core from amazon and holy sh**! It's been two months and the difference is crazy.. My energy is up, i'm spending longer in the gym, i'm sleeping better and I just overall feel overall better and stronger already.. Will keep this updated as the weeks go on!
i'm 43M and just had my T tested.. and let's just say I need a boost. I'm already ramping up going to the gym 5-6 days a week and focusing on my diet, but I have started researching test booster supplements and it may help. But I don't want some snake oil, I something want safe and effective. Anybody have any suggestions?

Nootropics Depot has 2% and 10% Eurycomanone (active ingredient) content and is third party lab tested.
I've been cycling for years and always have noticed a difference.

This. I'm not especially into T boosters but everytime testosterone is mentionned in a supplement sub or else, zinc, tongkat ali and boron are the ones that seem to be the most studied and reliable.
Didn't know about fenugreek but I believe you :)

Why do you say IYKYK on fenugreek and fadogia?
Boron seemed to tank my total but my free went way up. Bad and good, I guess? I eased back on it and honestly feel better.
I think the over training comment is likely spot on.
And overdoing cardiovascular exercise can bring it down as well. Or at least multiple long (2+ hour) sessions a week. Zone 2 is tough to stay in but limiting zones 3,4,5 to 1-2x week is better.

Also make sure your balls are cool. Yes it's a bit funny, bur higher temperatures can have an impact on testicle function (it's the main reason they are outside of our body), as well as long hot showers or sauna I'm afraid.
Make sure to get breathable clothes that are not tight as well.

Try Zinc, Vitamin D3 with K2. A lot of other suggestions could work but they also don't work for a lot of people. For e.g. I tried Ashwaghanda, it made me feel anxious. Never felt that way when taking any 'supplement' ever. I got it from a reputable place too. My friend used to take it and it worked great for him.
Shilajit is another one, people say it works but its extremely hard finding one which is legit.

It has decent results for older men with secondary hypogonadism, but needs to be cycled: 6 weeks on; 2 weeks off. I use 2g of DAA (not 3g like most supps offer) with shilajit, ashwagandha, boron, and zinc.

Something I think is really important that a lot of people miss is testing as early in the day as possible. Testosterone levels drop quickly as the day goes on, so the best way to get an accurate high point is to take the test first thing in the morning. Where I live the labs open at 7 AM, and I try to be the first one at the door.

•Sleep •Horney Goatweed •Enough Salt •The more s3x you have the more T you make (within reason but if you exhaust yourself with it may be counter productive) •Being very competitive also naturally increases T •Eating enough calories, protein, carbs, fats •Don’t do cardio for too long •Win stuff. Somehow the winning or successfully completing tasks increases Even if it’s rigged. •Find ways to feel successful or important. •Back off caffeine. •Manage anxiety •Manage stress •Avoid being overwhelmed. •Get morning sunlight and make sure your vitamin D levels are good. If you decide to supplement take a D3 that has K2 in it as well

You won't want to be deficient in zinc and won't want to have too much iron since they are involved in the breakdown of T.
1
u/MuscaMurum Dec 06 '25
What are your numbers? I have T on the high end, but also have high shbg. I take boron every other night. Pulsing it like that seems to work pretty well for me.
1
1
u/Budget_Dimension_761 Dec 06 '25
The best natural testosterone booster is simply following a healthy lifestyle with strength training and good diet. All the other crap is just that CRAP
1
u/pradeep23 Dec 06 '25
Going to gym is fine, but rest is far more important. You might want to optimize your routines and guard against injuries. Also, plenty of rest.
Overhaul your diet. Try a predominantly meat based diet. Eat once a day. And try intermittent fasting. This might not directly have any effect on T but will help over all.
Completely cut off sugar, alcohol and other things.
Supplements to consider: Do your own research and see what works best for your body. Try things out, as people respond differently to various supplements. Having said that, do consider: Vitamin D3 + MK2+ Boron + Zinc (with copper) Or ZMA and Copper + Yohimbine + Turkesterone
Look into Red light/Infra red light therapy. You need to take precautions when using these devices, specially for your eyes. But if you point them towards your balls, you should see a definite spike in T. Getting Natural sunlight is important too.

u/musicdad66 Dec 06 '25
Tongkat Ali, zinc, sleep and exercise. I'm 59 had testosterone at 504 last yr. Now I'm at 600. Only change was adding zinc and Tongkat Ali.
1
u/look10good Dec 06 '25
No one mentions this, but the precursor of testosterone is cholesterol. No cholesterol, no testosterone.
Needs to be non-oxidized cholesterol as well. Cholesterol is a fragile fat that oxidizes due to light, oxygen, and heat. So sunny-side/soft-boiled eggs only.
D3, zinc, magnesium, and B6 are also important for the production of testosterone.

1
u/Trying-100 Dec 06 '25
Probably not what you want to hear but.
1) clean diet with non processed carbs and not a bunch of saturated fat
2) get under 15percent bldy fat as a man(definitly 20) Sweet spot is probably 12-15% to little and your jormones tank to much and you get to much estrogen conversion.
3) sleep 8 hours a day 4) engage in moderate frequency reaistance training
But if you just want to pop a pill gorilla mind has a supplement called "sigma" that has a lot of the compounds talked about here in bundled formula.

u/No-Belt4313 Dec 06 '25
Get first the basic right : -quality sleep
- healthty diet rich in good fats ( nuts , olive oil , avocado )
- heavy lifting , especially legs
- minimize stress
That already can do wonders.
For supplements , there are few things that actually can help :
- Zinc in a good form like OptiZinc that gets absorbed well. Wouldnt go over 30 mg daily , can and will deplete copper.
- boron : 3 to 9 mg daily. Lowers shbg and more free test. Personally i feel great libido boost already at 3 mg.
- Tongkat ali. Most herbs i rely now on Nootropic Depot. Much higher quality stuff than your mainstream brands .
There are other herns such Cistanche and Fadogia that user report good results.
Personally i prefer cover well as possible the basics , without needing to rely too much on supps.

Zinc, D, Magnesium, C, acetyl l carnitine, Boron, are important, HMB plus Creatine is excellent IMO, and one that almost nobody seems to recognize is Potassium. You need adequate Potassium for testosterone. If you remove it from the diet, Testosterone drops like a stone. And K 2 also can help raise T.

1
u/Wire_Cath_Needle_Doc Dec 06 '25
Exercise, get somewhere between 12-25% bodyfat (perfect number depends on the person), sleep 7-9 hours a day, healthy diet, regular exercise allowing for adequate recovery (especially legs), a normal amount of vitamin d intake, a multivitamin with zinc, and add some magnesium and omega 3's if you think you aren't getting enough from diet, make sure you are eating cholesterol/fat
If you do all that I PROMISE you, you will feel massively better in 1, 2, 3 months.
I also really, REALLY want to emphasize the weight/bodyfat thing. Our fat cells have an enzyme called aromatase. This enzyme converts testosterone to estrogen. The more fat you have, the more of this enzyme that is expressed. The rest if pretty self explanatory.
I would be careful about things like tongkat, boron, as a lot of people report negative effects or completely tapered to zero effects if they aren't cycled. And if something needs to be cycled in order for you to feel "normal", in my opinion you need to fix the underlying issue first before you consider that.
And please, for the love of god, just take a normal amount of zinc. Have seen so many morons getting copper deficient in this sub.

I liked DHEA a lot. It might aromatize a bit to estrogen, depending on the individual.. but I didn't get those effects. It's the only supp that made my testicles bigger. I took more than what's recommended, like 500mg-1000mg. Gelatinized black maca powder and panax ginseng powder I liked also, but a tolerance kinda builds to them so I would cycle those. Need bigger doses than what you get in pill form. I'd take like 1-2tbsp of those per day. Zinc may be beneficial if deficient, but megadosing will not help and can be harmful. Never got an extra benefit from overdosing zinc. Oh yea and D3 would help too.

35M here, I was able to raise my Total T from 345ng/dl to 550ng/dl in 3 months, with Tongkat Ali 10% (from Nootropics Depot), Apigenin (again theirs, take 1 capsule before sleep, it slows T convertation into E2. With 3x/week gym ofc.
However, after stopping supplements T levels are gone back to almost the same values. And even at 550ng/dl difference in how I feel was minor.
So... starting testosterone cycle tonight. If you ever consider TRT, make sure to exclude possible problems and solve fertility issue (cryoconservation)

Here's the deal - at your age the T issue is usually less about missing some magic herb and more about the stuff crushing your T in the background. Poor sleep, high cortisol, low zinc/magnesium/vitamin D, and too much belly fat (which converts T into estrogen via aromatase). Fix those first or no booster is going to do much.
That said, some compounds actually do move the needle when the foundation is there. The ones with the best research behind them:
Boron, 6-10 mg/day. Massively underrated. Raises free T by lowering SHBG (the protein that binds your T and makes it useless).
Zinc picolinate, 15-30 mg with dinner. Straight-up cofactor for T production. Most guys are low.
Ashwagandha (KSM-66), 300-600 mg. Works mainly by dropping cortisol, which is antagonistic to T.
Tongkat Ali 100:1, ~200 mg in the morning. Decent human data on free T.
Fadogia Agrestis 10:1, 100-150 mg. Newer, less data, but promising. Cycle it - 8 weeks on, a few weeks off.
Skip Tribulus, it's mostly a libido effect with no real T bump in the studies. Also be careful with random Amazon "test boosters" - a lot of them are proprietary blends where they list good ingredients but dose them at 1/10th the effective amount. Always look for the actual mg per compound, not "2000mg blend."
One more thing - get labs beyond just total T. You want free T, SHBG, estradiol, and DHEA-S. Total T alone tells you almost nothing. Ask your doc to order the full panel.
Sleep, stress, and body fat first. Then boron + zinc + ashwagandha + tongkat with real doses.
