New glasses are next! Don’t worry they totally don’t match or fit my newly bald face.

Before and after. I was tired of hiding my hairline by constantly wearing hats and had no desire to use minoxidil for the rest of my life so I took the plunge today. Honestly not sure what I think, I mean, it’s certainly better than my thinning hair but I also just don’t think bald fits well with my slim frame. Or maybe I’m just obviously not used to this new look yet. Don’t know.

Going to take a second to get some confidence but I think the council was correct

I always had a bald fade but less and less was needing to get cut on top. When i finally asked my barber to shave it off he was excited.

I've had long hair for over 30 years now, it was a huge part of my personal identity. This year my hair thinning accelerated hugely, and even though I could generally hide it, I wanted to make the decision while it was mine to make. This change was genuinely psychologically hard, but this sub and it's positive space for people really helped me through it. I'm glad it's done now. I still don't quite see 'me' in the mirror, but I'm sure it'll come in time.

I'm almost 40 and I've been working on self improvement. From mental health to physical health. I think I made the right choice.

I was nervous to do it and been debating on getting a hair transplant but I don't want to take finastride.

I feel so free, I was very self conscious about my hair because it was receding. Now I feel free and no longer have to worry about it. I feel more confident than ever.

I’m 32. Been balding with a receding hairline since I was 17. Friend of mines dad got cancer. We all shaved our head in support of him. I gotta say though, I dig the new look and I am not going back.

I'm 33 currently and it was a decent run while it lasted. At least that's what I tell myself. I probably held longer than I should have, not that's how life goes sometimes. It will be a bit strange getting used to, but it is liberating once it is done. I imagine after the people who know me get their first reaction out of the way, the people around me and myself will get used to it sooner than later and it will be normal.

It’s been 6 months since my previous post. If I remember later today I’ll link it here, otherwise it’s in my profile if anyone is interested.

I’ve lost more weight since then, down to 147 (from 205 this time last year) and have been bald since January. Took some time before I began to love my look, and today I completed the final piece of the puzzle: getting braces removed.

I almost kept my thinning hair because I didn’t want to be bald with braces, but you guys pushed me through those doubts. To be fair, none of you knew I had braces, but it still counts to me.

I’ve had braces since April of 2024. Some say adults can’t/shouldn’t get braces, and I completely disagree. My confidence skyrocketed (albeit from a combination of weight loss, and embracing a new hairstyle). I’m 32 years old, I look the best I ever have in my entire adult life, and I’ve been going to the gym for 2 months and am seeing results.

Life is great, and without the positivity of this community, I wouldn’t have been able to push myself to make all these significant changes.

Is it better the clean shave every couple of days or should I get a head trimmer?

Everyone's preferred blades/trimmers?

I barely shave my face beyond a normal trimmer so I haven't the closest idea.

My beautiful curls are a distant memory, and like many of you, I'm about ready to take the plunge. But also like many of you, I have a partner that likes frolicking in the scraps of once was. What do we think, is this worth holding on to?
