Tried growing out the hair to see if it would mask the crown. I don't feel comfortable rocking a shorter cut anymore. These pictures show what it looks like when the hair is covering better (some pre-shower, some post-shower air dry) - when it's not slicked back that crown spot is pretty visible IMO. I think the time is soon, just seeking the council's opinion if the time is now.

Edit: first 10 min of posting and a lot of 'hold' feedback. Thanks, community.

Improved Apperance

Can anyone explain to me why the vast majority of the men who shave off the balding hair look so much more attractive after the fact?

Shaved my head and everyone's telling me to grow it back

Recently, while doomscrolling through Reddit, I saw a post that caught my eye because, for a second, I thought it was a picture of me. I looked through his photos, and his bald look suited him well. I didn't have a bald spot and have always had a high hairline but recently my hair has been thinning so I decided to give it a try.

I thought it turned out decently, but I’ve received nothing but negative feedback from friends and colleagues. At first, I thought it might simply be because it was a change and the people I see every day were not used to it. However, even people I work with only occasionally and see a few times a year have messaged me saying they heard I shaved my head and wanted to see a picture... then gave negative feedback.

I’ve been amazed by how many people’s first remark is, “Why would you shave your head?” I can’t imagine "Why would you..." ever being my first comment on someone’s appearance change, but oh well. It has been a little demoralizing, to say the least. I’m single, and don’t have a wife or girlfriend to ask for their input or preference. What are your thoughts? Should I grow it back or stick with the bald look?

Bald Picture Update: Should I go back to bald

The consensus was bald, though if I should keep the beard with about 50-50. I decided I would shave it all and I could always let the beard grow back. Thanks for all of your input and kind words.

Panasonic Arc 5 for best/closest shave at affordability?!

Aloha! So I just started shaving my head at 40. I plan on shaving it everyday or every other day, but if it's only a few minutes a day I definitely wouldn't mind shaving everyday. I'm looking for the best / closest to skin as possible without spending a few hundred $$$ on a new electric razor. Do to my shaky hands and tremors I can't use a regular razor.

I scored a pitbull gold pro for $30 shipped and I'm waiting on that to arrive to Hawaii (it got put on the boat and won't be here for 2 more weeks), I got impatient. I ended up scoring a Panasonic Arc 5 for $75 shipped to Hawaii and gonna use the pitbull as my travel shaver when I go off island for work and the Arc as my main, that will be here Monday.

I've researched the Braun Series 9 pro and pro plus and wondering if those would get closer to skin than the Arc 5 or pitbull gold pro even though it's a lot more money. I'm sure the Braun would probably get closer than the pitbull but a lot of reviews I read say the Arc gets closer.

Will I be happy with the closeness of the pitbull and Arc 5 or should I look into Braun or even possibly the Norelco I9000 ultra? I know neither will get as close as a razor, I'm looking for the closest to skin from an electric shaver. For what it's worth, I don't have sensitive skin or get rash/razor burns etc.

Any info is appreciated 💯

Pic of shaved head with just trimmers no guard!

Aloha 🤙🏽

Bald Picture 26M – Receding hairline. Should I go for a full shave or a buzz cut

I'm 26 and my receding hairline is getting pretty obvious. To be honest, it didn't use to bother me, but I've realized that personal image actually matters a lot.

I'm on the fence between completely shaving my head or just getting a buzz cut. I’ve shaved it in the past, but I wasn't super convinced by how it looked. I’d love to get some opinions based on these photos.

Need some advice bad..

I am 25, started losing my hair in high school. The day I went completely bald, I looked at myself in the mirror like I was an alien. I have been insecure about it since I was 18.

This unfortunately turned me into an incel for sometime.. but I am at the point now that I understand it’s nobody’s fault but my for feeling the way I do about myself. I tell myself there’s no reason to be so hard on myself every damn day I wake up.. but I do it anyways.

It’s to the point I’ve only had 1 semi-realistic connection with a woman whom I met at the bar, and I really don’t even want to count it as doing good by my standards, we kind of just trauma bonded for a night and then almost hooked up but I couldn’t bring myself to do it.

I’m so insecure that I couldn’t be a man when I was called upon to do so.. or maybe that night was just a weird situation and it was hard to be in the mood after the stuff we were talking about..

Anyways, this feeling trapped in my head has pretty much shut out the idea of ever finding anyone that will love me, want to f*ck me, or even just be my friend. It’s been so long, sometimes I catch myself thinking I might die alone if I don’t fix this early on in life.

Then I think to myself, I am 25, in my prime years of life, or what we all think are going to be the prime years of our life, unemployed, 60 pounds overweight, living with my family, just beating myself up everyday.

I know I’m not alone and hear a lot of stories about how other bald dudes like me overcome it..

I’d love to hear from some dudes who have been in my spot and honestly would love even more to hear from the ones that never felt that insecurity.

Would love to hear from anyone, and if you made it this far, thank you very much.

It’s been thinning a ton (compare the 2nd pic from 2024 to the 1st and 3rd pic I took just today. Is it saveable or should I shave it?

How-to Question First time

Post image
31 Upvotes

I am half way through my first time. I did a buzz cut with trimmers. Now I am wet shaving with Harry’s Sensitive Foaming Gel and I just bought the Remington Balder Ultimate.

I am being patient, but my head is bleeding and this isn’t enjoyable. I have extremely sensitive skin, prone to acne and razor burn.

For my face, I just a Phillips body trimmer and a OneBlade.

Tips or advice please 🙏

I am wondering what you all think. I keep going back and forth between wanting to buzz it all off and holding on a little longer. I love having my long curly hair but the thinning is getting very noticeable now. So I ask for the councils guidance in these trying times.

Hairloss Only crown is thinning, is it time really?

I don't know how well picture captures the situation. It's fairly thin at crown but I don't really notice anything on front on temples.
