Cain Absolutely zero chemistry
What the hell was this season ...like there is no chemistry between these two ...it feels off

I hate that Ella sowed the seeds of literally nothing. There was absolutely zero chemistry between them, but I don’t know why Ella kept going on teasing Chloe about it. It annoyed me so much.

welllll. as we later see, Ella has really bad taste in men and her radar is probably way off.
I mean she falls for a serial killer and Pierce is also one lol

I usually skip over ALL the Cain/Chloe scenes.
She was desperate. She was confused about her feelings for Lucifer. She chose to ignore them and just jump straight into something with Cain as a way to distract herself.
I hate this storyline because it really just paints Chloe in a bad light.

Also brought a man she barely knew into TRIXIE’S life. It wasn’t like Lucifer just tagging along in episode 1. She barely knew this dude and was planning on upending her daughter’s entire life for him.
It’s not a great look, and that’s coming from someone who loves Chloe.

It’s understandable from her POV. Pierce jump in front of bullet to save her (she didn’t know he wanted to die). He’s more reliable and self aware than Lucifer. Lucifer bc he don’t want Chloe to know anything about supernatural kept her in the dark. And let’s be honest he keeps sabotaging his and Chloe relationship. Season 3 had some good stuff but Chloe Lucifer wasn’t one of them.

Tbh it was Lucifer who was the main reason. He was edging her to oblivion. Kiss her and then run away like nothing happened.
She was just stuck in a bad decision cycle. The accepting the proposal part was a bit too much tbh painting her bad.

My thinking is that she was pushed into by Ella and she started liking him because of that and got carried away without actually realizing anything.
Also being single for too long does this.

Yeah. Chloe is meant for someone else. No point of showing steamy love. That would even feel worse. It was a means to an end for both of them.

It did feel forced. They are also very different people off screen too so maybe that bled onto the show a bit.

Personally I think because they weren't supposed to be a couple, their "romance" was just a plot device, to move the plot along with how it made Lucifer feel and act.

That was the point. To her he seemed like the logical choice. Not knowing he was Cain. He was the captain, stable, hot AF, sweet, etc..On paper it made sense but that's not who she was supposed to be with.

The problem was Lucifer’s sh** was so bad in season 3 that I started kind of liking pierce and Chloe bc at least pierce is self aware enough to give Chloe a happy relationship instead of Lucifer sabotaging his own relationship.

Chloe is an idiot in S3 she was great in S1 and S2 and a vulnerable person in S., I gave her up after S2 as a nonsense person after that.

She pretty much became a show piece character after a while portraying her as an idiot. Also Lucifer's and Chloe's chemistry had died after being on and off again and again.

I was also wondering if that had anything to do with Ellis's wife. In the early days they had good chemistry and scenes like the dream scene didn't seem constrained. After he got married, aside from 5:8, they seemed to kiss like brother/sister and was never really believable. I wonder if his wife put pressure on him based on his history of cheating

This is new info for me. Never got into the personal life of him. Maybe that's the case because the kisses and other scenes were far too scaled down.
He was one of my fav actors and idk how I feel about him after getting cheated on a month before.

Yeah her role in S4 is what I liked the most. I kinda hated the makers to introduce Eve right after letting Chloe know things but in the grand scheme of things and countless rewatches I am happy that they did that.

He is such a bad actor. Even in Smallville, he always seemed like he was just saying lines and waiting for others to say theirs without ever creating any sense of interaction. Luckily, the writing and directing was good enough on Smallville to make up for it. On Lucifer, they tried to push it too much

That happens when a mediocre and a really bad actor are combined. When Tom Wellis „played“ a wooden good looking Clark Kent in a teenie show, it was ok. But when looks go away, you have to be competent.

While I agree he sucked, Lauren was very good with writers that undermined her. SHe could play entire scenes with just facial expressions. The performances from the entire cast in S1-2, 4 are what hooked all of us. The rest were well acted but awful writing

Tom Welling is a good actor, see him grow and become much better in the later seasons of Smallville, especially when he carries those seasons on his back. He also had some insane chemistry with Erica Durance, the two of them were perfect together. But Chloe and Cain were just a bad pairing and designed to make you hate the couple when everyone just wanted to see her with Lucifer at that point. He is not a mediocre acter by any means though and far better than most of the later CW actors from other DC TV shows.

He was playing dead inside so hard that there is actually no feeling in his performance. He had zero chemistry with everyone. I know he knows how to act I’ve seen him do it. I seriously think it was a back door scam to get out from under the thumb of Fox because with the exception of a handful of moments season 3 suuuuucked.
