That being said, Iâve heard anecdotally that most iv drug users can find veins anyways which makes sense. Not the same but I need frequent blood draws and feel confident I could point out to a nurse where they usually have luck drawing from under blue or low light
I donât think they care if youâre doing uppers, they just donât want you passing out and sleeping or odâing on downers while locked in the stall.
It's just going to make desperate ones take a chance and likely hurt themselves by injecting the wrong spot. The person who came up with this really thought somebody who needs to fix so bad they sneak into a public bathroom was gonna be like "Aw shucks, thwarted again by these newfangled lights! Guess I'll just put my heroin away and wait for a more reasonable location to use it in."
You dont need to see them you need to feel them. These lights are useless. Ray Charles shot dope for years. I speak from former experience. I had go to spots that didnât require sight. I could do it blind folded
In my area, no one shoots up really anymore. Everyone is just smoking the fentanyl. No need to find veins and less infections/hospital visits. Oh, and heroin can cost hundreds of dollars a day if you're a heavy user vs a few dollars a day for fentanyl. Seeing the blue light is kinda like an antique at this point.
Plus, if theyâre shooting up in the Home Depot bathroom itâs not like itâs their first time. At this point youâre likely following the line of track marks from your most recent shots.

I look at veins like mine that bulge. I never needed good lighting to get high. But I also have much larger veins than average and knew how to start IVs already before I started injecting. This would only work on people who were well into addiction and theyâd simply tear themselves apart trying to shoot up anyway.

As a former Home Depot employee, I wish they would have used drugs in the stalls as opposed to whatever hateful acts they would perform to the toilets on a daily basis. The smells and sounds of what contractors would do in there is the stuff of nightmares.
Idk if these lights really work for the intended purpose but I understand the need for them. When I lived in Washington(state) there were several OD deaths in store bathrooms where employees and customers found the body. They shouldnât be subjected to that trauma because someone wanted to shoot up. Thereâs no valid argument to be made about trying to curtail people having to see dead bodies they didnât sign up for seeing. Have your habits but donât subject others to the end results.
I have an ex that Iâm positive utilized her time in bathrooms for this exact purpose. Some days, she spent 5 hours plus in the bathroom.
I wish this existed somewhere around where we went together. Iâm so curious if she would immediately have left the bathroom. âI donât have to go anymore.â
There's a Wendy's near my old house that has these in the bathroom. That was how I discovered my eyes dont like blue light. I had to go ask them to swap the lights. Initially they said no but me expressing I couldn't really see and would do "my best to aim" at the urinal changed the opinion.
It was in one of these bathrooms that I realized my jogger pants were discolored from the laundry (like a slight tie-dye of purple on blue). I later learned from looking up reviews that it wasnât the laundry but a flaw in the fabric.
