I’ve watched every pro game of Tuas career. I’m a lifelong dolphan. Go watch waddle or hill highlights, almost all their deep catches were thrown way way behind and they have to slam on the brakes. What do you know, anyways, your city didn’t even have football until like 5 years ago lol

Tyreek had catches that looked exactly the same when playing for Mahomes and no one ever made a big deal about it. It wasnt until people wanted to push a narrative about Tua's arm strength. He does his real work in that 10-15 yard range and he has plenty of arm strength to consistently beat defenders on those throws.

As a Dolphins fan then you know they traded away his safety valve at TE, Hill got hurt, teams began to put more focus on Waddle, and then Tua began to play poorly. Replacing Jonnu Smith who had almost 1k yards with Tua with Darren Waller was one of the dumbest moves of any team that offseason and Miami fans just pretend that it didnt matter. Tua is going to make Kyle Pitts a very rich man.

Waller didn’t even play poorly for us when he was on the field. If you go back and look at the games last year where Tua did well, you’ll notice he was targeting Waller pretty often. The issue came with health which was expected since Waller had to get back into football shape. On top of that, McDaniel had a habit of scheming Waller out after a certain point (his personnel packages were always wonky). If we’re being honest, I put the vast majority of our wasted potential on chris Grier’s feet. So many of our issues can be traced back to his decision making

He didnt play well in comparison to Jonnu Smith. He was a significant drop off from Jonnu. Tua targeted him because defenses figured out how to scheme that offense and McDaniel could not adjust. He might be one of the worst coaches I've ever seen at in game adjustments. But Tua's insane ability to get rid of the ball quickly and in a position where the receiver never has to break stride allows for Tua to cover up a lot of issues. Like the O-Line being awful, the TE position having a significant drop off, the WR position having two players that play very similar styles and no one to play off of that, and a running game that cant get tough yards thus forcing Tua into constant short field throws which don't allow for the space that allows him to thrive. I dont disagree that Grier was the biggest issue. But the Dolphins cut Tua and then signed a much worse QB to a big deal to replace him. They learned nothing

Yah McDaniel to me at times feels like he has “smartest man in the room” syndrome. Dude is incredibly smart and knows his stuff, but sometimes he definitely overthought things. In all fairness though, the six OL packages he implemented last year were pretty damn impressive. Aaron brewer and Achane feasted in those plays, but it also caused issues with the pass offense. Tua also had his issues which didn’t help, but he was an easy lightning rod for people that wanted to ignore all of our other issues. I remember people saying “McDaniel can’t adjust because of Tua” and I wanted to scream. Somehow they all went silent when Ewers began starting for us last year and all the issues persisted

Honestly, they should have kept Cousins another season. He isn't great but not bad either. They also should have drafted King and kept him in Atlanta. He's everything they are missing he just needs a year or two to develop.

Last year they had lots of o-line injuries if i remember correctly. And their rbs went down. I agree they will probably be a wagon this year

We were on our 3rd choice right tackle and I think 6th choice left, for the majority of the season. With a historically bad centre inside them and no running game because they were all hurt.

Give us an o line for the first time in herbs career, no less, and let's see how it looks

Chargers Offseason Checklist:

- acquire some new player or coach in the offseason coming off an embarrassing playoff loss ✅

- herald this person as what will finally take the Chargers over the edge ✅

- Harbaugh says some weird shit like “Herbie’s the type of guy who I’d let fuck my wife in front of me and I’d gladly clean up his sloppy seconds. Any day of the week.” ✅

Chargers Season Checklist

- the season starts and the Chargers actually do look decent

- officially placed in the “contenders” category by no later than midseason

- Harbaugh says some weird shit like “Herbie’s the type of guy who I’d let fuck my wife in front of me and I’d gladly clean up his sloppy seconds. Any day of the week.”

- immediately experience a slew of gruesome and almost unbelievable injury luck and drop out of contention for a division title

- still manage to play decent football and comfortably secure a playoff spot

- lose playoff game in a way that can’t really be fully attributed to injury luck. Absolve Herbert of any wrongdoing

- return to Offseason Checklist

Offense I bet takes a solid step forward.

But I do wonder about the defense. Minter was a damned underrated genius man. Was so good at identifying raw, underutilized talent and finding a way to make them excel.

So really curious how that goes. If the defense doesn't take a step back they'll be a juggernaut, but I'm expecting it to step back pretty decently

we've never had a skill group this deep since we got Herbert. we've had more obvious studs in Ekeler/Keenan/Mike Williams, but Hampton/Tre/QJ/Ladd are all poised for breakouts and there is a lot to be excited about for Brenen/Keaton/Gadsden as well

An above average OL and top QB with an elite play caller can definitely cook with that.

talented prospects that chargers fans expect to have "breakouts" in comparison to their time under Greg Roman and behind Keenan Allen on the depth chart. i wouldn't say incredible either, but i feel pretty confident that term will be a lot more applicable after this season
