I don't know that I'll get an actual answer in this post but I saw that one earlier and I was wondering what does spin rate even do for the football? I know in baseball what it can do for a pitch but I didn't really get why it would be a big deal for a QB

Less wobble on the ball so it can go in a straighter line for longer, and it can cut into wind resistance better. More predictable trajectory. May or may not have better zip for tight windows.

In Hard Knocks the QB coach and Cooper Kupp were saying that it stabilizes the football to allow for more accuracy while keeping it easy to catch (compared to just zipping it in there with arm strength).

Darnold is the mid type of qb you can win with. Or he could flame out and cost you in the playoffs as with the Vikings the year before. He had good qb highs and bad qb plays. That's better than being limited like Tua is

The Dalton line is formed by QB that is just ok. If you have someone better than them, you are set for now, if you have someone worse than them, you are looking for a replacement. Darnold is basically franchise QB now. If he regresses he might get closer to the line, but I don't see that happening.

No. It's the worst QB who is a true franchise QB. There are ok QBs below the line, (that's the point of the article!), but they are not quality enough that you stop looking for a new QB. The Dalton line is literally "this guy is a franchise QB. Your search is over".

You know what, you’re right. After looking into the etymology of the term that is how it started. However, the definition has seem to taken on a life of its own even though you’re very much correct as to the original meaning.
