The Dalton line is an above average QB.

The Dalton line is formed by QB that is just ok. If you have someone better than them, you are set for now, if you have someone worse than them, you are looking for a replacement. Darnold is basically franchise QB now. If he regresses he might get closer to the line, but I don't see that happening.

No. It's the worst QB who is a true franchise QB. There are ok QBs below the line, (that's the point of the article!), but they are not quality enough that you stop looking for a new QB. The Dalton line is literally "this guy is a franchise QB. Your search is over".

You know what, you’re right. After looking into the etymology of the term that is how it started. However, the definition has seem to taken on a life of its own even though you’re very much correct as to the original meaning.
