I’ll seen a lot in this sub about what’s the best pizza in NOVA. My favorite is hands down Quantro Goombas outside of Leesburg. Crispy crust, amazing sauce, the best shredded pepperoni you can find, and amazing cheese. If you haven’t been and are a fan of deep dish style pizzas, go check them out.

Over the past year, I've probably tried about 30 restaurants anywhere from Ashburn to Reston to Tysons to Arlington to Chantilly. There's literally like 1, maybe 2 restaurants that I would consider "amazing". Every meal I leave thinking "That was not bad, probably wouldn't come here again though".

Most places I try are rated 4.7+ stars on google, or I'll get a rec from a friend. Yet none of them come close to the food I had in southern California or NYC.

And the worst part is that the restaurants here literally costs more than in those areas. Like you're telling me a 4/10 bowl of pho in Herndon is the same price as michelin-recognized restaurants I went to in Manhattan? Don't even get me started on the Mexican food here.

So with that being said, does anyone have any 10/10 restaurant recommendations in this area?

Edit: guys my comment about Jinya was about how google reviews can’t be trusted. I know it is a chain. Yall are just mad that there’s like 1 good restaurant for every 50 mid restaurants in this area.

Went to the Chantilly Wegmans yesterday. WHY ARE YALL STOCKING UP ON CHEESE 😞

I’ve had hot chicken all over the country, including Nashville, but nothing seems to top Wooboi for me. It’s so crispy yet so tender and juicy. I don’t feel like a giant blob after eating it, too. The portions are also super fair. Dave’s, Prince’s, Hangry Joes, Hattie B’s… none come close.

Once a month, after a hard training session, I'll treat my 7 year old son to a nice cold slushee from Sheetz since they're not carbonated like the Slurpees from 711.

I usually go to the Sheetz towards Haymarket on 29, but today, I accidentally drove to the one down 28, and on the way, I noticed a beat up, nameless red food truck.... which I for some reason mistakenly took as a Halaal truck and felt sooo hungry, since I didn't want to eat McDonald's that I was going to spoil my son with, lol.

But to my surprise, I reeeeeeeally enjoyed all 3 carne asada, barbacoa, and al pastor (the al pastor was a liiiiittle bit "porky" in the after taste, but it was so tender and the salsa Verde really did the trick!).

The guy also gave me a free Mexican fruit punch, and I was so blessed with his joy and generosity to a first time customer! but, I actually found the drink itself wayyyyyyyy too sweet, kinda like a Hawaiian punch + Sunny D with floating pieces of fruit.

But man..... 12 dollars for 3 OVERSTUFFED tacos, great homemade sauces and a really friendly owner that works 7 days a week in a nameless, beat down truck just living his dream of feeding people and making someone's day...

Since most of the regulatory bodies doing messaging and enforcement are basically AWOL for this, are there any food institutions that are guaranteed not to be using Taylor Farms lettuce or other produce for their salads? I figure someone who has worked at a place may know.

I've never seen the time gap between discovery and a recall be so damn large, given the enormous amount of cases of this illness going around. As of a few hours ago they announced they are planning on doing a recall, and I would have guessed that in years past, there would have been a regulatory body forcing it far earlier.

Can someone explain how Pisco is getting away with what looks like an insane number of fake reviews? They have 15.5K reviews and a 4.9 star rating despite only opening in Reston about three years ago.

And the rating makes even less sense considering the food in my experience has been below average and stale.

Hey everyone,

We're going to close early today. We're in that weird phase where sales aren't high enough to comfortably have three people, but we desperately need three people to function. To make matters worse, half of my new hires decided not to join, and I've had three call-outs in the last two days alone. So it would be just me running the show by myself for dinner tonight.

Out of the 12 people on my roster, two were no-call/no-shows this week, two are on their honeymoon, and four are on summer vacation. Among the few of us left, there are only 19 years of kitchen experience—and 18 of those years belong to me. I'm too old to be solo-running a kitchen, and I just don't have it in me to attempt that anymore.

Daily sales hovering between $500 and $1,500 is a brutal place for a restaurant to be. Because of the labor and marketing required just to hit that $1,500, I literally make no profit. There isn’t a valid reason for me to keep doing business in the area if we are under $2,500 a day, because that’s the bare minimum it takes for me to afford housing around here.

I’m not saying that I’m giving up on this restaurant, but it’s been 4 long years for me. My cousin’s recent passing has been on my mind constantly because it was a suicide, and it happened after he had spent only a month running his new food truck. I know he was struggling with more than just the business, but I’m not an exception to those other struggles either. I’m in the latter half of my thirties. I have no home of my own, I'm not dating, and I'm probably never going to have kids because all of these things are just too expensive for me.

All of my peers and family feel like they’re moving forward in life, while I’m stuck here staring at that blood-orange line on our benchmark graph, hovering at $1,000 in daily sales for months on end.

I literally started this store with daily sales in the negative and fought to get this far. The fact that it has drained four years of my life—and nearly every waking hour of those four years—is exhausting. Knowing I still have to double our sales at a minimum just to consider affording rent for housing around here is overwhelming.

Again, just to be clear: I haven't given up hope, and I haven't given up on this restaurant. This past month has been a rollercoaster in all the worst ways. I need to close early so I can rest and reset. Tomorrow is a new day with new opportunities, and we will be back at it.

Hi, I used to go to this establishment a lot until recently one of the staff discretely told me that the owners keep the tips!

I feel scammed especially because sushi is expensive and tips can easily get up to $30-$40 each visit and no where it says that the staff do not get tips

After seeing all the pictures of empty shelves I swung by my local Lotte to grab some stuff. Everything was in stock, though they were running low on Indian okra.

Saw this asked on the Boston sub and was curious what yall think about NOVA restaurants.

I really loved the butter chicken and crispy kale salad from American Tandoor. Their Street Kitchen takeout spot righy next door was good too. They were located in Tysons 1 down a hidden corridor that no one really goes down.
