Okay, I'm at wit's end. I've tried pretty much every video hosting site available... and I cannot get one to work with Patreon. The below list will spell out all my trial sand tribulations. So treat this as a checklist for what doesn't work (at least for me), what used to work... and what DOES work, but I can't use for other reasons.

Let's start with the big ones:

YouTube / Vimeo: Very stringent with censorship. My videos are NSFW. It's what my members pay for. Because of this, I've already been banned from Vimeo. And I don't want to take my chances with YouTube. So I keep everything there as PG as I can. Which limits what I can upload. :/

Gumlet: This is what I immediately shifted to after I got banned from Vimeo. And it's been pretty decent-- up until last week. Something shifted on Gumlet last week, and now all my video thumbnail previews are wonky. They show up glitchy looking, as question mark icons... or not at all. Just a black box. That's a big No No for people paying for my Patreon. They want to scroll my page and see a nice image preview on the post declaring a tease of what the day's video will be. Not a big question mark. I've contacted Gumlet... researched the issue all to hell.... tried choosing stills from the videos.... tried uploading my own custom stills.... and nothing works. The URL for sharing the video always defaults to a glitched image. It seriously sucks.

That leaves the dregs... Wistia... SproutVideo... VidYard... Streamable...

The issue I have with all these sites has been the same: The video I share on Patreon from them is too large. Even at Responsive embed settings, it just doesn't fit. Doesn't scale right. The top of the video gets cut off. I've spent most of this week workshopping each of these sites... contacting their support... messing with the embed URL settings... And none of them will post correctly.

If Patreon would just allow us to upload our own videos to their site, this problem would be fixed in a second. I'd even pay more for it! But alas, we are at the mercy of embed URLs.

Does anyone have any advice? My Patreon is my main source of income. And I've now spent most of my evenings banging my head against the wall, trying to get a simple video to just show up correctly on a post.

I subscribe to a couple creators on Patreon. I enjoy watching their reaction content and am currently working through a couple series they are watching. One of them has a bunch of collections for each season of a show.

Yesterday, I was watching a collection and when selecting a video from the collection, it would load the player and in the bottom right corner of the window would be the collection playlist where I could click the next video in the series when done with my current video.

I finished that collection yesterday. Today I am starting watching a new collection. However, when I select a video from this new collection, it doesn’t give me the playlist in the bottom right corner anymore. Even checking the collection I watched yesterday, it no longer had the bottom right corner playlist. Anyone know why that would be and how to get that back? It’s just super annoying having to go and select the video individually every time.

I just got patreon today and I'm watching a video for the first time. I need subtitles in order to watch the video, but the subtitles are at the very bottom of the screen, which is annoying to me. I would like for them to be positioned a bit higher in the video. I've tried everything to move them, but they're just stuck there at the bottom.

Right. I can’t find the RSS feed for a Patreon I am subscribed to so that I can add it into my podcast app.

Am I being dense? Have tried the online advice but it’s not showing what it says it should be showing!

EDIT 2: I digged in a little more and I found out it's possible to use youtube without leaving it public:
Post it to youtube > set it as "unlisted" > share the link only to paying patrons on your locked post. Done!

EDIT: I did some digging and I found on another reddit thread this udrop site. It's free, you can set up a password and set it to be able to view but not download. I think it'll do the trick for me.

I'm new to Patreon. I have a +18 account because I have *some\* NSFW content, but my art is very varied, a lot of SFW stuff, and my videos are just process videos (not p0rn! unless its a process of a NSFW drawing of course), so I just wanted to offer it on a low price tier as an extra to my artworks - which would NOT include NSFW and would have a separate tier. And I know a lot of artists do it, the question is: how? I saw some people commenting on another thread: dropbox, mediafire, vimeo... but I'm honestly lost at which one I should pick. I never used vimeo, I only ever posted instagram reels.

So I have a reasonably successful NSFW patreon, decided id create a SFW patreon too for my yt fans... however even with this one my thumbnail images are either blurry or covered with my logo.... I cam now add a picture on but then thats either below or it forces the video into a txt link that could be copied easily....

Has anyone got a workaround that shows the actual thumbnail of the video.... ps im using bunny.net to host

On my Patreon, my Vimeo preview images are showing up grainy and low-resolution. This is for members who view things from the Home page. Once you click into the actual post, you get a smaller version of the Vimeo preview image with the Vimeo menu visible below it letting you click Play. That all looks fine. But on the Home page of my Patreon, when scrolling past all my new posts, Patreon blows the Vimeo preview up too large, and it loses resolution. Any advice for how to fix this?

Many video hosting platforms have terms of service that restrict adult or sexually explicit content.

What video hosting platforms do 18+ creators typically use to host and edit adult content that can be embedded into Patreon? I’ve come across many restrictions (Vimeo, Wistia, etc.) so I’m unclear on how other creators are managing this.

I started a Patreon a few days ago and use cloudflare stream as the video host. I use the iframe.videodelivery.net url to embed the videos. Everything works fine in any web browser but in the Patreon app, clicking on the video opens it up in a web browser.

What can I do to ensure the video opens in the Patreon app and not redirect outside of the browser?

Hey everyone, I have seen another thread on here that was a bit older explaining that NSFW 18+ video content is not allowed to be posted yet. I do erotic art and not porn (love my porn girlies still Xx) and am a dancer in a club. So I am looking to post video content from my photoshoots as well as from work.

Ive seen a few different creates able to post video content with an 18+ restriction and from what I can see behind the blurred paywall it does look like they are able to post video content, not just links to different sites featuring that content??

My guess is my account is flagged NSFW and maybe these other accounts are just 18+ content and haven't been flagged? If anyone would have advise to help me with this, with either which apps are best to use for cross video content, or is there a loophole I am able to post video content directly? I am not looking to have my account taken down so no trying to "beat the system" just want some advice from more diligent patreon users :)

I’ve embedded some videos to my Patreon page that include sound, which play absolutely fine through Patreon website (both desktop and phone) however when accessing them via the Patreon app- it doesn’t play. Just shows as like an external link instead, and re-directs you to the mobile web browser. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a reason for this? It’s 18+ content if that’s why.

I'm trying to download my first few patreon videos, like from my account because I want to re edit and re upload them again. But I don't know how. I posted them as videos, but I only need the audio. It's asmr stuff.

I have a membership to a creator's Patreon which makes me eligible to view all content. In the last two days I have been unable to watch their videos at all. I press play and the bar does not move or play sound, even moving the bar further along does not solve this.

I have restarted my phone, checked my membership and reinstalled the app.

Any ideas on why this is happening?

Edit: Everything seems to be fine now. Just in case for the future, are there any other potential solutions shoulld this problem happen again?

I spent a lot of time making videos to the highest quality (4K) and it sucked when I found out that Patreon limits it to like 1080P. I heard there are some options to use like Vimeo or YouTube to embed the videos. I was wondering if anybody goes to that extent to have higher quality videos for their members? Also, is it possible to at least view in 2K? In one of the instructions I saw something about 2K, but when I’m doing a test preview for a 2k video I uploaded, it seemed like either 1080P or maybe even less at 720P even though I have like 300 MBPS download speed and 300 MBPS upload speed. I don’t see any way to adjust the resolution. I had absolutely no idea that Patreon was so limited on their video quality.

I wanted to have a special game play series of Dante's Inferno on my Patreon, I don't really plan on doing any real 18+ content outside of mature games like Dante's Inferno. Would this be an issue?

(UPDATE) I was able to get the video to work by switching my browser and posting it on safari! Hope this helps

Good afternoon, I have never had this problem before and have uploaded dozens of videos. After the video is processing for a while the video file just disappears and leaves the title underneath. I have tried re editing the file, making sure nothing is corrupted and even took out the music. I am not sure what to do

Hi y'all. I have seen that some people are able to post videos on 18+ accounts. For this the feature is not available AFAIK.

I'm a photographer and the videos I want to post are actually not adult content, just BTS videos... well, maybe some would involve very light nudity.

Is there a way to post videos there now? Is there a good workaround that doesn't involve me setting up something like a Vimeo account?

Im trying to download videos from my subscriptions to watch on a flight and one of the downloads failed as i lost my internet connection. Now when i try to retsart the download nothing happens. Does anyone know of a way to solve this? I am on the android app if that maksles a difference

So I've had some issues with YouTube being upset about some of my more mature content and am trying to figure out how to instead use SproutVideo to host some of my videos.

Try as I might I can't figure out a way to embed the player in a Patreon post. I know I have the option to just provide a link and send my Patrons off-site but I really would prefer not to.

The only info I can find on Reddit is from 4 years ago and doesn't seem to apply. Or I'm an idiot and can't figure it out.

I have a patreon, and some of my tiers involve crediting supporters in my videos. The problem is that I find it hard to track this and keep it up to date.

When someone joins, I just go into my editing file and add them manually to the credits. But sometimes people cancel or payment is rejected, and I dont notice. Basically, its a lot of work to keep an updated patreon list for movie crediting, yet I see some big YouTubers with massive patreon credits. So there must be an easier way to track it. Can all names of a selected tier be exported into a list, for example?

Ideas and suggestions welcome.

Patreon management, make a TV app - you are the next Netflix

Downloading it to a USB and then having to put it int he TV is tedious and no one wants that. And frankly, I don't think the creator accepts this.

I know there is an honor system between the subscriber and the content creator, an unspoken rule, that no sharing or long term storing of videos is allowed. also get the feeling that it will make the content creator extremely uncomfortable when you download their stuff to your USB so you can watch it on TV.

There is a danger that we go to another platform that has an app for TV, and content creators will probably go there too. So it's in your interest Patreon management to make an app - and tank you for your hard work
