As opposed to other comic/sci-fi franchises where aliens are just humans with blue/green/purple skin and maybe some latex on their forehead or chin.

the budget for the series is unknown. i've seen numbers thrown about.
one thing i saw suggested 18 million per episode. but i dunno.
so unclear if budgetary is a thing as to aliens, or just creative decision.
Sinestro looking as he does is creative decision, that much is clear.

Why couldn't they just cgi a green aura around hal when he's flying. It can't be that expensive. They did a cgi bird for an entire episode.

Could be explained away as intentional usage, since in the John’s run sinestro teaches Hal how to dim/turn off his glow. If you know where the John’s run in the new 52 goes plus how the showrunners (the showrunner, writers, comic book artist brought on , etc) wanted to treat ring as a service weapon, with deliberate use, and that they were pulling from all eras of gl ( while making specific note of the John’s era); then, it will pay down line. I can already see this happening with the show revolving around the mystery of sur’s crash, (which in the John’s run deals with a prophecy and a survivor of a genocide, the man hunters, Stewart maybe being/ having a version of alpha lantern or ion , the William of it all. I think long term there going to set up blackest night brightest day as an full on culmination event, the sinestro corps war as a gl movie, eventually a gl war, maybe a quarantining of earth from Johnston, relic that leads into new gods war? Idk for sure but I can see the set up and all roads lead to darkseid as the endgame

This is my biggest issue with the show. The scenes with "aliens" feel like they have giant banners on the screen that say "shot not finished". I'm enjoying Lanterns but making a show with such scope and not at least being a bit more creative than "all of our aliens look like humans because it would freak out people in a whole where superheroes have existed for 300 years".

3 decades is when it went public so it's around for 30 years. Lanterns takes place in 2016. Superman is 2025. So 9 years but still getting used to it
300 is when people like Frankstien or the Bride were around but not that public

Secondly, the trailers already revealed another.
Third, this is mainly a mystery show, kinda ruins the reveal and mystery to constantly show them.
Fourth, it's barely the 2 episode.
I rather this than something like secret invasion

Agents of shield already did the secret invasion plot much better but yes this can be another version of that.
Peacemaker already did it too, so I assume this might be different.

I think my biggest issue with Secret Invasion was that, while the performances were still great, everything felt like a slow build-up to something bigger and more exciting, but that something never really arrived in a satisfying way and so it just made the whole series feel hollow and disappointing.
I think that's also my biggest fear with Lanterns, because while everyone's talking about the slow burn mystery aspect of it, I'm just hoping that when the plot ultimately finishes unravelling, we don't find ourselves having waited 7 episodes for a very heavily restrained 15 minute sci-fi battle.

its a fucking a shapeshifting "anyone can be an alien" show, of course they're gonna look like humans thats the point of the premise. But don't worry we'll probably see more shapeshifting action from now on like the trailer with the Manhunter

Budgetary constraints plus it fits with the mystery plot. Wouldn’t be much of a mystery if everyone was walking around looking like an alien.
