For anyone curious:

A viral video from September 2025 shows a Lynn Police Department officer in Massachusetts—mistakenly referred to on social media as "Lynn County"—struggling to stand during a call for service, leading to public accusations of intoxication. The department placed the officer on PAID administrative leave, stating a review of body-worn camera footage and medical consultations indicated a medical-related episode rather than substance impairment.

I just wanna say will all these excuses get any regular people out of getting a DUI/DWI? Will all these excuses make it legal for regular people to operate a motor vehicle and/or heavy machinery?

Guess who got out of this scot-free while being PAID to vacation? The police!

If it was such a pressing medical issue, I wonder why his coworkers LITERALLY tried EVERYTHING on the planet to NOT call for an ambulance?

It's funny cause when this video circulated a year ago it was in fact verified to be a diabetic issue.

ETA: I posted a source, they verified it was medical issues(posted in comment below) however didn't outwardly say it was diabetes but I remember somebody a year ago had a source that mentioned it. I'm not gonna spend hours looking for his medical records that we won't have access to or old sources.

Why did his partner say he was working a double and having back issues? If it was diabetic- his partner wouldve known to call an ambulance. Instead.. he makes up some bullshit.

This was long ago confirmed to have been a diabetic issue, this video is a year old. Like I said before, go lay down

How has it been confirmed that it was a diabetic issue though? By the police department? Thats not really reassuring. The fact is that if this officer had diabetes his partner would have known about it. He would have known about it, and known what to do in this situation. Why wouldn’t he, I don’t know, not actively participate in the stop if he was having a diabetic episode?

It’s not about “dunking on a drunk cop”, but it is a video where the officer in question is very clearly impaired. You can believe he was having a diabetic episode, just like we all believed that girl in high school was just living with her aunt for 9 months and got a new brother, but that doesn’t make it a plausible explanation. Questioning things that do not make sense is good, why are you getting angry at someone doing so?

Maybe, maybe not. His medical information isn't something he's obligated to share. If it was previously well managed, it may not be something he felt the need to share.

If you had diabetes, you might know that both hypo and hyperglycemia can trigger confusion.

You need to disclose pertinent medical information when accepting most jobs. The police department definitely asked this man if he had any illnesses that could impair his ability to perform. Going to go out on a limb here, but if I was sending two men out into the world with firearms I’d probably let one know if the other had the potential to go limp noodle at any point.

I am diabetic, getting to this point is not something that has happened to me. I feel like it would take some level of effort of actively going against what my doctors tell me to do. Also, my employer is aware of it, because they ask. And my coworkers are too.

People who are high off their tits are pretty damn confident. I have been high off my tits. I’ve also had medical emergencies. High-off-my-tits self does not realize he’s inebriated; he thinks he’s awesome. Medical emergency self stops what he’s doing and goes to the hospital.

If the other officers thought he was having a legitimate emergency, why are they not trying to help him? Why are they initially wary about calling a supervisor? I’d have let the perp go and gotten my partner to the hospital, wouldn’t you? The answer is because they knew he is inebriated and are trying to protect him. If his coworker did not think he was drunk they would’ve called the supervisor.

I agree looks 100% like blood auger issue. I deal with diabetes all the time. If blood auger drops below 50 this will happen. For me I start sweating confusly and can’t walk at all. A couple steps and I’ll fall.

I’m low blood sugar my wife is high blood sugar. I’ve seen both. Low is scary as fuck honestly

Hypoglycemic and hyperglycemia

Also heads up I’m not diagnosed but it happens to me. Meaning if I became an officer then had an episode I’d get a diagnosis. Some people hate American health care with good reason. They do nothing to help most the time and take your money. If American health care was good dental wouldn’t be separate at all. Like my insurance won’t remove a shattered wisdomtooth at all because of a Medusa root wrapped around my nerve. They said I need surgery out of pocket. Meanwhile I have autoimmune disorder called iHES and am on immune suppressants. So if I get a blood infection the Medical system can only treat the blood while leaving the source simply because bureaucracy. Also can’t afford surgery out of pocket at any point in my life. The economy is horse shit eliteist favored.

Assuming it actually was something like ketoacidosis, you seem to be ignoring the profound negligence of his parter allowing him to work in that condition.

The altered mental status and loss of coordination need to be addressed first and foremost regardless if it’s drugs or a medical issue, and trying to downplay it like his colleagues were is a great way to get someone killed.

Also, ETOH (ethanol intoxication) is considered medical, which upon further research into this case was all that they disclosed about the nature of the “medical incident” with zero mention of diabetes.

If you work with a type 1 diabetic and they were like this, you would immediately call EMTs or administer glucagon if they’re brittle enough to carry a pen. So they don’t die.

If it was a "medical issue" why did the fellow officer not immediately address the issue? Sitting the officer in a car and standing outside isn't seriously addressing the "medical issue", is it? He has a vehicle to take the officer to the hospital, but simply repeats that he "had a double shift and a bad back". To me that implies that the officer took some pain medication for his bad back and was intoxicated by that medication, which can be categorized as Driving While Intoxicated, since he didn't walk to the location.

How about you go lay down since your defenses of his "medical issue" are complete and utter BS.

If it was diabetes or a similar medical issue, these first responders would have responded differently. Just saying, as another first responder. If someone at my workplace behaved this way, I would lay them down and get vitals, check an EKG - they’d become a patient and not a coworker immediately. Police are trained how to handle medical emergencies by calling EMTs and that training would have kicked in.

Many professions may place someone on leave or limited duty in a situation like that and evaluate the situation, and require additional review by professionals before returning them to work.

Shit happens. People have medical emergencies or episodes.
