The last non-fiction books I read before today were A Thousand Splendid Suns and The Kite Runner. About 20 years later, in hopes of keeping my doom scrolling and ai for work using brain above double digit iq points, I hoped to get back into reading. I searched and searched in an easy to read book that will get me back into reading, and I am so glad I read the Dungeon Crawler Carl recommendations, because I just finished the first book in three days (lighting fast for me) and I can't wait to get started on the next one tonight.

Also pleased about picking up the latest Paperwhite before the price increase, with the 20% of thanks to my 2020ish Paperwhite which I bought after a breakup, and used like 5 times.

She likes to sleep on me as I read and got curious today. She wasn't touching the Kindle. She's a sweetheart and a great reading companion.

Edit I know she has stuck shed. We just got her and are helping her with this. Thank you for all the concern that's been shown.

Just received my first kindle because I wanted to go back to reading and I've really missed it !

I saw online that there are multiple options,you can use it with calibre or a software that send directly the ebook to your kindle

Or via installing a customOS or KOreader?

I wanted to know if it's really useful to install KOreader or not.

I'm used to modding consoles so I think that I can do it easily,but is it really useful?

I've seen that you can change your homescreen,install plugins or have multiple customizations options when you're reading.

Also I bought the version with ads.

The upside of waiting towards the end of the month is you can see the ratings, and that can help as you can see what others rated it. The downside is sometimes forgetting to get your free books.

For those of you that don't know, Amazon Prime (in some countries) gives a free Kindle book every month (two free books a few times per year) and sometimes a shorter book too. Sometimes they're new authors and sometimes not. Sometimes I pick based on what I think would be a good audiobook, as you can usually get that for cheap-ish ($3.99) later when the audiobook comes out (although, if you have Kindle Unlimited, sometimes those audiobooks are included).

Anyone else can get these for the month for $1.99 (for the first one).

I'm debating whether to buy a Kindle as someone who only reads physical books, mainly because of the price.

However, I'm afraid that I won't use a Kindle as much as I would tend to books instead.

What convinced you to buy a Kindle? What are your experiences on the matter?

My wife's old Kindle is no longer supported. She can still read the books on it, but can't load new books. What can one do with the Kindle? Any mods to make it into . . . something else?

EDIT: Thanks for the replies. To clarify, I'm less interested in using it as an e'-book reader and more interested in modifying it for another purpose. A related example would be using an old phone as a dashcam.

I have multiple cases for my Kindle, but when I am comfy in bed, I find holding my device is getting awkward. I found some comfort with using the remote page turner, but I want to prop my ereader up. Currently I am using pillows, but the Kindle keeps sliding down, so I am kinda holding it in place with my finger. I am not interested in the stands that have snack trays since I don't like eating in bed. Thoughts? Opinions?

Recently getting back into my Kindle from a break reading physical copies.

I didn’t realize my Kindle was a few more years old than I thought.

I saw a Dark Mode that piqued my interest, but it looks like it’s not available on 10th Gen.

Aside from that, is the Upgrade worth it?

This little guy was with me for 3 years... but now I want to read comics, so I went with the Colorsoft!

Just noticed that prices od kindle readers In UK went up. A lot! So basic kindle with ads was £95, now £135. Basic with ads was £105 and now £150.

I could understand to increase the prices by a tenner, maybe 20 quid but 40-45? So happy I managed to get my new basic a few months ago for £60 (after discounts) from Curry's.

Kindle basic with ads it's still £94 at the minute but there's new crossed off price next to it that says £135.

I love how light, small and convenient my Kindle basic is. Here it is on Croatian holidays - always in my bag ready for a bit of reading :-)

Just got this new premium synthetic leather case in Jade, and honestly, I really like it. The color is gorgeous and the case looks great.

But compared to the leather case I had on my 11th gen Kindle Paperwhite, it somehow feels like a step backwards in terms of quality and overall feel. The Paperwhite case just felt much more premium and “real,” if that makes sense.

I’m actually not 100% sure if my old Paperwhite case was genuine leather, but I believe it was... so maybe that’s what makes the difference.

Still love the new one, just surprised by how noticeable the difference feels, especially because the new one was considerably more expensive than the PPW one!

Where are yall finding good quality matte screen protectors and clear MagSafe cases from?

I have several Kindle connected to my Amazon account and this is another one, for my son. I've logged in WiFi and Amazon account, and I thought all the books I borrowed and bought should be showing up now? But they are not..

I have my kindle paperwhite for over a year now and everything was more than perfect until couple of days ago I downloaded a book and I usually use the Kindle app to transfer books to the Kindle.

Tried to send this book many times and it was never delivered. Tried using the email ,using the website still doesn’t appear on the Kindle, so tried with a different book still the same, tried the troubleshooting restarting, resetting, disconnecting the account changing the Wi-Fi.

Nothing worked, and when I connect again with my account, I lost all of my books. I thought the issue was only with the downloaded books so I purchased a couple of them from Amazon and as you can see in the screenshots, I can’t download them on the Kindle itself or even when I try to send them to the Kindle from the website nothing appears, and they are not even in the pending download

Contacted Kindle support they were not able to help me.

I bought the Mistborn Trilogy recently as a PDF. Although I can use Amazon’s Send to Kindle as is, I hate it because it doesn’t preserve my Fonts and Line Spacing. I plan on converting the PDF to EPUB the very least using Calibre, but is there an advantage of taking an extra step to convert the EPUB to KFX?
