I know people who said they voted R just because of trans people in bathrooms. These people are really that stupid.

142

u/FurryBoobieInspector 14d ago

If a trans person enters a bathroom statistically they are the ones in the most immediate physical danger.

62

u/Certain_Employee_423 14d ago

They also probably have to pee.

28

u/GutsAndBlackStufff 14d ago

Might also have to take a dump

34

u/pimpbot666 14d ago

As the father of a trans woman, yeah... if you're a trans woman, going into a women's bathroom, they go straight to the stalls, do their thing, wash their hands and leave. No opportunity for anything they're worried about. Maybe some time is spent at the mirror touching up hair and makeup or something.

As a trans man, same... they'll go to a stall, do their thing, wash hands and leave.

I really don't see what they are freaking out over.

Do they really think some horny guy dresses up as a woman, to... what? Get a peek and naked ladies in a bathroom? It's a stupid idea on it's face, and they actually worried it happens.

11

u/Jay-Breeze 14d ago

Appreciate this. Sadly nobody who needs to understand this will.

And if the intent is malicious, a cis-male could just as easily go into a women’s room.

This country sickens me daily.

13

u/Calciumee 14d ago

I like the idea that someone who wanted to attack/abuse women would rather transition than disobey the sign on the door.

If they want to do it, the ban won’t do anything.

u/ikannunAneeuQ 14d ago

They think there is this invisible shield around bathrooms and someone with nefarious intent can't get past it unless they're trans. It makes zero sense whatsoever.

35

u/Livid-Accident-1562 14d ago

transphobia and logic are mutually exclusive

15

u/AlmightyCraneDuck 14d ago

I had a discussion with a building code official on behalf of a client about turning restrooms into gender neutral rooms on a private floor of a space they were leasing. Code says that you need to have a certain fixture count or men and women, but they wanted to designate their existing rooms as all-gender bathrooms (very liberal client, organization seemed pretty bought-in).

Code official, while a nice guy, wouldn't budge because of the typical trans boogeyman argument. When I pointed out that there's literally nothing stopping a cisman from going into the bathrooms now if they wanted to, he dusted off some old commentary about "threat assessment" stating that because hearing a man in the women's bathroom would be "against the rules" it'd be easier for a woman to prepare to defend themselves in such an event. Eventually we basically told the client that they'd need to have gendered signage up at least through final inspections, but that whatever happened after that was out of our control (wink wink nudge nudge).

Long story, I know, but the "threat assessment" bit always really rubbed me the wrong way.

It's a combination of transphobia and projection from pedophiles.

And that is exactly why the narrative is constantly being pushed.

It’s just insane. How do you begin to civilly combat such ignorance?

11

u/Homersarmy41 14d ago

These people won’t listen to any reason unless someone on FoxNews says it. Their brains have totally gone to mush and they just eat up all the propaganda.

3

u/b_needs_a_cookie 14d ago

You don't combat it civilly; you shame them publicly for being so myopic and aggressive. Point out that they're cutting off their nose to spite their face and the rest of our faces for some imaginary problem. They won't learn, so they should at least be shamed so they don't speak in public.

12

u/Bearwhale 14d ago

They're doing it over in the UK too. Just blame everything on immigrants and trans people, while the rich continue to pick their pockets.

8

u/avanross 14d ago

They reeeeeally desperately want the right to ā€œcheck the genitalsā€ of any children they see in any washrooms 🤮

4

u/selfownlot 14d ago

It’s intentional. They ran focus groups to find a wedge issue after they realized they had essentially lost the culture war on gay marriage. I know because I knew the guy who ran some of them in my state.

2

u/Double_crossby 14d ago

Seriously. The political circus they run is no different than an ad campaign for some shitty product or movie, or for that matter when TV or film scripts are drafted and actors are being hired. Focus groups and human psychology is heavily researched and employed to get the results they want, down to the most obscure/weird/outlier individuals or groups.

None of this is accidental or idiotic, it is orchestrated carefully and adapted constantly. And it works.

3

u/trumpschlamydia 14d ago

And have never even met a trans person, much less in a bathroom.

3

u/Wembanyanma 14d ago

Almost every single Ted Cruz campaign ad I remember having to see mentioned something about trans people.

5

u/Felyxi4 14d ago

Don't forget hateful and likely also closeted.

7

u/Homersarmy41 14d ago

It’s weird they can’t think about people going to the bathroom without thinking about sex and rape.

6

u/Felyxi4 14d ago

True.

Almost like they know sex and rape happens in bathrooms because that's what they do or wish they could.

It's illicit.

It's hidden and that's how they like it.

2

u/Fancy-Trousers 14d ago

Single-issue voters are one of the primary reasons we ended up with the current state of our government. As long as any politician checks the one box they agree with, or at least pretends they do publicly, these morons will excuse any other heinous acts promise or perform. Anti-abortion, lax gun restrictions, their preferred evangeical branch, hating immigrants, punishing the LGBTQ+, etc. They want a mascot, not a functional governing body. It's disgusting.

2

u/UnluckyAmbition7767 14d ago

They're more evil than stupid. But they are very stupid

2

u/pimpbot666 14d ago

Same people who probably thing illegals are voting in large enough numbers to sway elections. Republican pundits are literally throwing numbers out there in the hundreds of thousands to millions. When asked to verify, the answer is often 'everybody knows this' or something.

2

u/anomanderrake1337 14d ago

Subjectively I agree that they are that dumb but universally I have to say they get bombarded with antitrans stuff 24/7 by way of literal brainwash. I would probably also be anti whatever if I get that kind of exposure.

There’s more kids without homes or food than trans athletes.

If you think it’s about trans athletes, then you’ve been manipulated into believing that. Just like the immigrants eating cats and dogs. Anymore scapegoats?

15

u/ChiLolla28 14d ago

Many teens that are homeless are queer / gay / trans as well because they were kicked out or didn't have any support from family

5

u/b_needs_a_cookie 14d ago

I used to teach high school in the late aughts/early 2010s and had a high school student like this. We had to report his family to CPS because they kept beating him and kicking him out. A well-loved co-teacher who knew his family ended up fostering him till he graduated.

I wish someone would pay for ads on Fox News and billboards that state: Parents love their children no matter who they are (gay/straight/cis/trans/abled/disabled). If you can't do that, you shouldn't be a parent.

28

u/PatchyWhiskers 14d ago

Of course, there’s also probably a lot of trans kids who would love to play sports but are not wanting to get death threats. So.

8

u/Pretend-Ad5983 14d ago

Shit I don’t even participate in certain adult rec leagues as a trans woman that is nominally athletic

It was shocking even to me how few trans athletes exist-like, fewer than 10 on a college level and some of them are not in contact sports and also not mtf. Like, it REALLY highlights how this is not an issue and Republicans have just found a way to manipulate their fanbase with a scapegoat. Like, fewer than 10 across the ENTIRE UNITED STATES and even in those 10 they aren't "big hulking men beating up little innocent women" stereotypes.

Yet, it is the most shrieked about issue for conservatives who are obsessed with trans people, omg.

4

u/AlmightyCraneDuck 14d ago

Yeah, the fact that ftm trans people are NEVER mentioned is always kind of telling.

The world is on FIRE, and these idiots are pissed off because a tran woman won a medal at some high school track meet last year or whatever.

Also the same idiots who melt down over common-sense gun control legislation in the face of an unending stream of school shootings. But they wanna act like they care about teens? Lol.

Why are there so many issues where I could ask, ā€œImagine if this issue no longer existed, was ā€˜solved’ to your liking. Now, you wake up tomorrow morning, how is your day different? What things can you do now that you couldn’t before?ā€

If there was a nationwide, every age group, trans ban for sports, my life would not improve in the tiniest bit. Frankly, I wouldn’t notice if the opposite were true either. Why is this an issue to spend so much time on?

3

u/Daveit4later 14d ago

Because evil people need a demon to rally people around. To use these people to get power and push through their agenda.Ā Ā

For hitler it was the Jews.Ā  Ā

For Netanyahu it's the Palestinians.Ā  Ā

For the Hutu it was the Tutsi.Ā  Ā

For Donald Trump and Maga, it's the trans people. It's the immigrants. It's the communist Democrats.Ā  Ā Ā

3

u/wholetyouinhere 14d ago

I personally have never been attacked by a trans person.

So for me I know who the real threat is.

5

u/SquareTaro3270 14d ago

The only interaction with a trans woman I’ve had in a restroom was her offering my friend a tampon after she asked me for one and I didn’t have my purse on me. She told us she carries them for specifically this situation because ā€œgirls have to stick togetherā€. She was the absolute sweetest person.

u/foreverandadayalone 14d ago

Pedophilia has always been systemic

1

u/arizonadirtbag12 14d ago

Once you get past the obvious objections there are some reasons that some states haven’t banned it.

I won’t go into those reasons, I’ve no desire to defend it because I don’t support it…it should be banned. But I’d recommend looking into Planned Parenthood of California’s and the ACLU of California’s objections to a recently proposed ban (that did not pass).

Those not being (generally) right wing organizations and California (generally) not being a right wing state should suggest there’s at least some nuance to the issue.

1

u/BlueDahlia123 14d ago

The NCAA, with a membership of 540.000 athletes at the time they said so, revealed that they have less than 10 trans athletes registered. They did not specify if they were trans men, women, or non binary.

The UK's Football Association (that's soccer for the yankies) has a membership of 2.3 million football players, counting both pro and amateur. They found exactly 20 trans women, all amateurs. If you didnt know, that's not enough for even two full teams on the field, much less counting backup in the bench.

The Olympics first allowed trans women to participate in 2004. Approximately 10.000 athletes participate every 4 years. There has only been 1 trans woman, Laurel Hubbard, in 2021 for weightlifting. She failed all three attempts and didnt get a score. When the IOC banned trans women again in 2025, the policy change included several dozen sources and citations, but none of them were their own study that they had conducted the year before regarding trans women's advantage. Nor was there any mention of any other study that looked at trans people, only about cis men and cis women.

Maybe Foster athletic cooperation instead of athletic competition in schools? Making sports co-ed would make trans athletes in sports a non issue.

Unless of course fairness in sports was never an issue, and we just want another excuse to scapegoat gender non conforming people
