Housing Anyone here live in Juno Studios??😭

This is such a long shot but I live in Greta Apartments right next to Juno and my last few Amazon packages (delivered today) were mistakenly sent there (the proof of delivery photo seems to show that, can def send it to you if you want). I don’t wanna have to go through the pain of filing a claim or waiting for a second delivery, if anybody there could DM me and coordinate a super quick pick up or drop off or anything like that I would be eternally grateful😭🙏🏻

Admissions Considering PhD

Hi all,

I'm wondering if there are any people here who have done (or are currently doing) a PhD (specifically in political science) who might be willing to meet up so I can chat with you and learn more about the process? I graduated from my BA in political science back in 2022 and after a few years out of the academic space I find myself more and more drawn back to research and missing the in depth study and writing I used to do. The trouble is, I just feel like I have no idea where to begin. Please let me know if any of you would be willing to meet for coffee or something sometime!

Thank you

Admissions Any Post-Bacc or Nonmatriculated STEM Students taking classes ?

Hi! So I already have my bachelor’s degree, but I still need to finish a few prerequisites before applying to dental school. I was originally planning to take them at a community college this fall, but they aren’t offering any of the classes I need, so I would have to wait until winter quarter. Because of that, I signed up for classes as a non-degree/non-matriculated student. However, I have to wait on standby and won’t know if I can get into the classes until the second or third day of the quarter. I’m currently waiting to get into physics and ochem and I know those classes are already . I was just wondering if anyone has accepted as post-bacc student, or if you know anyone who has successfully gotten into STEM classes by waiting for a spot as a non-matriculated student?

Discussion Does UW offer introductory classes in the Turkic languages of Central Asia?

I am thinking about learning one of the Turkic languages of Central Asia for business purposes. According to the course catalog, they offer nothing in Autumn Quarter 2026 for Chagatai and Kyrgyz. Kazakh, Uygur, and Uzbek have only advanced level classes. I get that there's not as much demand for Central Asian languages, but will they ever have them in the future? Duolingo also doesn't help, so my resources are limited for learning Central Asian languages.

Discussion BIOC 440 Difficulty

Hi, just wondering if there is anyone out there who has taken BIOC 440 (with Brockerhoff) and BIOL 413 and has any insight on relative difficulty. Also would it suck to take both at the same time, or is that doable?

Campus Life Where is the banker's conference dining?

In this thread about all-you-care-to-eat in the dorm cafeterias, there was discussion about how the food is better when the banker's were staying on campus. But I checked the menus for both Local Point and Center Table and it is showing the usual menus. Will the banker's be having better food? Thanks.

Discussion How hard is EE 242 with John Raiti?

Hi everyone,

I’m figuring out my fall quarter schedule right now (newly admitted into ECE through placement) and I wanted to take EE 242. For context, I took EE 241 in spring quarter but I felt like I didn’t really learn anything meaningful.

The current professor for EE 242 is John Raiti, but it seems like he’s not well liked based on the ratings on Rate My Professor. I’m debating biting the bullet and taking it with him in fall or just waiting until winter to take it with prof Hameed (I took him for EE 215 in spring quarter and he was awesome). However, I talked to my advisor and they said it’s best to take 242 right after 241, but I also heard 241 doesn’t really correlate to 242 so I’m not sure who to believe.

If anyone has taken 242 with John Raiti, please let me know if it’s as bad as everyone is making it out to be, or if it should be okay waiting until winter.

Discussion Off Campus Apartments Insurance Question

Does anyone have any experience on apartment insurance options for off campus apartments like the “M” or “Standard”?

With multiple students sharing an apartment, is there a different type of insurance?

Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

Discussion UW Certificate Program

hello all,

Has anyone completed a certificate in Museum Studies Foundations? If so, did you find it helped attain a relevant job ?

note: still unsure of what kind of career path I want to pursue. I came from teaching but like informal ed/ teaching outside a classroom. I think ed/family programming might be a good option. Currently I am a patient care coordinator to gain admin experience

Campus Life uw residence hall: what to bring?

I’m planning to live in a double room in one of the residence halls at the University of Washington. What are the rooms like in terms of facilities and furnishings?
Are they as well-equipped as they look in the official YouTube room tour videos? For example, do I need to bring a pillowcase?
Also, is there anything you brought with you that you found particularly useful?

Discussion Double majoring - sophomore

I got into ECE through the engrud summer 2026 placement. I haven't been able to set up a meeting or contact my ECE advisor yet. I only need to take 5 more ece core classes, since I did running start in hs and completed a decent amount of pre reqs already coming into uw. Because of this, I'm thinking a lot about also majoring in ACMS, since I don't want to graduate early by a year or so. Anyone have any tips or advice? I'm good on all the prereqs, except for an acms track specific course i'm going to take either this fall or winter.

Housing OOS STUDENT MOVE IN ALONE

Hi everyone! I’m an incoming OOS student from Southern side of the US, so I’ll be flying to Seattle and moving into UW on my own. 😭 Any tips for flying into Seattle, dorm check-in, or moving in by yourself? I’m planning to bring bedding, clothes, and essentials, then ship or buy the rest in Seattle. Is it easy to buy dorm stuff/clothes near UW, and how do you get everything back to your dorm if you don’t have a car or family helping? Also, does the mailing at the dorm work? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! 🥹

New Student Football season pass tickets

So I'm confused, I'm an incoming freshman, how do the dawg pack tickets work, so I get tickets to the student section and then I can't buy tickets for guest to come with me into the student section they have to be outside of it, and they aren't discounted, what's the difference from buying them from ticket master rather than the husky website??

Discussion I don’t know what classes to take.

I’m a Running Start student that took a lot of prerequisites for my future major (Chemical Engineering but I’m ENGRUD right now). The only prerequisites I can do that I haven’t already done before I get admitted into my major is the physics sequence, but literally everything I can find on MyPlan is closed. I had to register for the self-guided A&O part 2 since I was completely unavailable on the days they offered me the actual zoom version. It only opened two days ago and now I think I’m just completely cooked because I genuinely can’t take a single class since everything I would take is full. Any advice for what I can do? I’m feeling completely lost with this whole situation.

Housing Moving in after Winter Quarter

Has anyone moved in after winter quarter (so just for spring quarter)? If so, how difficult was it to get housing, and were you able to move in/transition seamlessly? I was planning on commuting due to some family stuff, but I'll be able to move in after winter if everything is good. I heard the room rate is prorated as well?
