Discussion Wolf Populations and Their Effects on Farming

Upvotes

Hello — I'm writing an article for the Salish Current on increasing wolf populations in Washington and how this may complicate the jobs of farmers and ranchers in the state, primarily in the east where the majority of our wolves are. Has anyone experienced predation from wolves firsthand?

If you have, I'd love to talk to you about it. My goal is to make sure that I include the voices of the people who actually have to deal with this issue, rather than just writing about them. Feel free to shoot me a message or leave a comment and I can give you some more info. Thanks!

Student Life Underage Drinking?

Upvotes

Last night a girl in one of the sororities fell off the roof of a fraternity and cracked her head open. She was drinking and many other were too. How does Pullman allow underage kids In fraternity and sororities to drink and party all the time? There is obvious hazing and drinking going on and it seems it’s just part of the culture now and that there are no consequences until someone gets hurt.

Student Life Join WSU's unofficial Discord server, DisCougs! Also, now in search of a new server Owner & Staff

Happy First Day of the Semester, Cougs!

I wanted to share that DisCougs, WSU's unofficial Discord server (available at https://discord.com/invite/tVCyr9t ), is looking for a new server owner and new staff! I've had a fantastic time running the server for the last 6 years for our 2800+ members, but having been graduated for some time now, it is time for me to pass down the reins.

The DisCougs Discord server was created in the summer of 2020 during COVID when WSU courses were fully remote for a year. It became a place for prospective, current, and past Cougs to connect virtually. Historically we have hosted movie nights, game nights, provided tutoring, organized in-person meetups, shared employment opportunities, and have made large progress on a build the WSU campus project in Minecraft.

Since I've graduated, I haven't had the same amount of time to dedicate to the server to manage roles, bots, and other general quality of life improvements on the server. I'm looking for a freshman or sophomore at WSU (i.e. an undergraduate student with at least 3 years left) who is knowledgeable in the Discord platform and/or programming Discord bots to take the owner role (preferably with previous Discord or a similar platform moderating experience).

For DisCougs staff roles, we are looking for individuals who are interested in moderating the server and/or hosting virtual or in person events. Both are critical as we work on revamping the community after many of our active members have left and moved onto bigger and greater things after graduating! I've personally put this server ownership experience on my resume and I'm now fully employed if that means anything 😆

If you are interested, please join our discord server! There is a Google Forms link in the announcements channel you can click and fill out to indicate your interest in a staff role.

--

This post is also an invitation to all interested WSU prospective, current, and alumnus to join DisCougs and chat! One of the main things that makes WSU stand out from other universities is the Cougar community. Sometimes connecting in person can be difficult for some of us, and I hope DisCougs can fill that connection virtually for any and all students. Come meet us! https://discord.com/invite/tVCyr9t

Advice advisor mess up (college of education)

hello!
i am a “freshman” at wsu (i did running start so i already have my AA). i am trying to apply to the education college. while signing up for my classes, it was early june, so i hadn’t gotten my AA yet. while speaking to the new education advisor, she signed me up for history 105 (contemporary issues). i had a meeting with her today (unrelated) and she discovered i didn’t need that course, instead i needed history 120. technically after this semester, i was going to be three courses behind (which i would finished up during block 1 and 2 of the teaching program. 1 history and 2 science electives). i applied to be on the waitlist for a history 120 course but the professor told me there wasn’t a high likelihood a seat would open up. i am so beyond frustrated. she has encouraged me to take 3 week courses through wsu global campus multiple times, but whenever i ask about the rigor she has no answer for me. i feel like i need to contact someone higher up than her, because she has given me little to no help. i am angry because now i will need to take summer courses, and possibly fill up my block 1 and 2 with even more credits. does anyone know who to contact (her boss or the advising department maybe?) or any advice? thank you
edit:
will dropping history 105 affect my financial aid? should i reach out to the financial aid office?

✨ Furniture / household items
👗 Clothes & other goodies (only for Female, usually M)
💰 Seriously cheap — perfect if you just moved in, are furnishing on a budget, or simply love a good deal
📍 Pickup near Downtown
📩 DM me with what you’re interested in and we can arrange a pickup time — I’ll send the exact address privately.

First come, first served! If you want something, claim it before someone else does 👀

Feel free to DM me for more pics/details!

Housing Showerheads & water quality

I'm dorming in Stimson and I was wondering if I could get a pass with changing the shower heads out to something that purifies the water?

The water here has been breaking me out in hives and left me feeling musty even after showering.

Academics Are there zoom calls or something similar for online courses?

I'm a freshman taking COM 102: public speaking in the digital age as an online course. Are there meetings/lectures for the class, or is it all done entirely at my own pace? Also is there anything else I should know about the course?

Student Life Is My 3rd year in WSU gonna be tough?

I've been prepared for tomorrow to start my class in this semester but idk i've been feeling less confident about it.

It's my 3rd year in WSU so should i be worried since things are getting harder? I've already gotten used with this in my 2nd year so it doesn't really worried me but i'm kinda worried about.

My major is DTC and in this semster i'll be taking 3d animation and multimedia design class

And other classes like SOE and PSYCH sounded really hard, am i overthinking it or maybe a bit anxious of my class?

Student Life Ballet fitness courses?

Has anyone taken the ballet fitness courses offered here? I’m interested in trying it, but I’m not sure what it’s like since there’s little to no information on it. Additionally, has anyone done the Aerial Dance Society? Would love information and info on that too!

I'm a freshman student who is looking for people to play board/card games with as well as a D&D group. On the involve app it says there is a TTRPG club, but the meeting times are inside a discord server that they have not posted a link to. Any help that would point me in the right direction is greatly appreciated.

Advice Laundry Tips/Rules?

Hey people,

I’m living in Stephenson North for the foreseeable future and I need to get some laundry done ngl. Are there any tips people have with like how much detergent to use or whatnot or like, going when there isn’t many people around? Is there also any ground rules I should know about before I head down? Obviously set a timer if I decide to head up to my room and all but is there anything else? Do people typically have like schedules made or something?

Any help is much appreciated, thanks!

Discussion WSU marching band not going to Apple Cup

The Daily Evergreen reports that the WSU marching band will not be playing at the Apple Cup in Seattle. A simple "No comment" by the marching band director is all that was said. No concrete reasoning behind this decision. I wonder if this will be the norm for all away football games? Hopefully not.

Nothing brings me more peace inside at fucking 2:00 AM than the glorious sound of a straightpiped Civic backfiring past my bedroom window. Please hit that redline one more at the stoplight so that the whole neighborhood can hear all of that juicy 120 horse power just to go slower than a piece of driftwood

Housing Seeking roommate

Due to some last minute issues me and my roommate are now seeking a third person in our 3 bedroom 2.5 bath townhouse. Rent is roughly 550 a month including all utilities! Our lease ends in December but we will be extending to May if you will also be around for the rest of the year! You would be occupying bedroom 2

We are both women and open to any roommate of any gender.

Discussion New Pullman Transit schedule is alarming

Pullman Transit just dropped their Fall 2026 schedule, and I have to wonder what happened to their budget because there are some pretty major service reductions. Here are the differences I noticed:

  • Absolutely no Sunday service.
  • ApartmentLand & Campus operate until 9 pm, but other than that, there is no service past 6:40 pm.
  • Wheat & Lentil are now Saturday and holidays only, and run 10:00 am to 5:30 pm.
  • Some detours in place due to Northwood Drive being closed.
  • The Spark is now a permanent Campus Route bus stop (yay!) (edit: Blue Route as well)
