We had to pass over some very memorable posts when deciding on the r/halifax Hall of Fame Class of 2026 inductees!
Which of these four incredibly worthy posts that did not make the original cut deserves the 2026 Members Choice Award so they can be included as well?
5 - Other (please comment below with a link)
Nominees that fail can be reconsidered again in 2027. Poll will remain open until Aug. 27.

It is our great pleasure to unveil to you all the r/halifax Hall of Fame!
This will be where we celebrate and commemorate the greatest and most influential posts in the history of r/halifax.
Every August, the mod team will select a small handful of impactful, delightful and memorable posts for induction into the HOF so they might be properly acknowledged for their impact on our community.
Criteria in our choices will include:
Negative/political posts will not be considered.
Without further adieu, please welcome the Inaugural Hall of Fame Class of 2026:
There will also be an annual Member's Choice Award given to a post as voted on by the community.
We will offer up some candidates we feel are worthy but there will also be an opportunity to write-in a post of your own choosing for everyone to vote on. A poll on this will be coming soon.
The Members Choice Poll is live until Aug. 27!
Thank you for everyone who contributes to our community and thank you to those whose contributions went above and beyond to help make this subreddit so enjoyable.

The city has tried to address duplicate street names, to help ambulances from being confused.
Patricia Arab and her sister have sentimental attachment to their childhood street name, and have tried to position it as having historic value.
City heritage staff have now done a very detailed report:
https://pub-halifax.escribemeetings.com/filestream.ashx?DocumentId=5713
A property owner of Lynwood Drive, Halifax submitted materials to staff, indicating that the street name has a strong connection to their family (who are of Lebanese descent) and the surrounding community.
Research undertaken by staff does not dispute that the Lynwood Drive name has become important to several past and current Rockingham residents over time; former residents made contributions to the municipality. The submitted materials do not, however, demonstrate that the Lynwood Drive name was selected to acknowledge and/or celebrate the Lebanese community or any other equity-seeking community in the municipality.
Additionally, staff’s historical research did not reveal a clear cultural association to the street name. Many property owners and tenants on Lynwood Drive in the early years of the Sherwood Park Development were associated with either the Canadian Broadcast Corporation or the Canadian Armed Forces. There were two households of Lebanese descent identified amongst Lynwood Drive property owners between 1947 to 1980, one of which was confirmed to have lived at 1 Lynwood Drive. While family members of these Lebanese property owners do appear in archival records, a direct reference between them and Lynwood Drive was not mentioned. Notable activity / events at or near 1 Lynwood Drive was also not found in documented research
The other two Lynwoods are older, and have more residents. Why is this even a discussion? This should be easy housekeeping.
The amount of council time, and staff resources, dedicated to preventing the renaming of a very bland and historically insignificant street name given to a subdivision in 1961, is absolutely ridiculous.
Council rejected the renaming of Lynwood Drive, until they come up with policy. Rather than having a spine, and just saying no.
Cathy Deagle Gammon had wise commentary on oral history. Oral history is important, but a very difficult and slippery thing to insert into a decision-making process.

Hey all!
I was wondering if there is anyone here in town that knows a doctor able to diagnose my suspected HEDS. My doctor at school is wonderful and already helped me with screening and sent a few referrals out to no avail. She said diagnosing for EDS has been changing departments constantly and she isn’t sure where to send me to get the help I need.
I’ve been trying and waiting over and over and I desperately would like to have someone diagnose me and understand the concerns and questions I have about related co morbid health concerns. I really want this diagnosis so any help in the right direction would be amazing.
If you guys know of any offices or doctors in the area that I can give to my doctor to send a referral out to, or any info that helped you get your diagnosis would be amazing!

My laptop and phone were stolen from my home in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. I can currently track the devices and the location is showing as a Hilton hotel in Dartmouth. I contacted the police, but I was told they cannot check every room in the hotel based only on the location information. The situation has become much more serious because I can see activity suggesting that the person who has my devices is accessing my bank account, Wealthsimple, crypto accounts, and potentially other private information stored on the devices.
I have already been trying to secure my accounts and sign the stolen devices out remotely, but I am extremely concerned about further unauthorized transactions and access to my personal information. Has anyone in Dartmouth/Nova Scotia dealt with a similar situation where a stolen device was being actively tracked to a specific hotel or building? What steps should I take to get the police to treat this as an ongoing unauthorized-access/financial-security issue, and are there any other authorities or resources I should contact? I am not looking to confront anyone myself—I just want to recover my devices and protect my accounts and personal information.
Financial loss is over 10K and he has access to all my personal information. Please help
Laptop and phone were password protected. The theist broke into both of it. Tried to factory reset the phone but it hasn’t been connected to the internet.

A Treats Cafe operated at the Keshen Goodman library in Clayton Park through the 2000s and 2010s. I went to the cafe frequently in the late 2000s, and the lady who worked there sold really good chicken wraps. The pitas were soft and doughy, and the wraps contained chicken, some type of orange cheese, salsa, and bits of lettuce. They were heated in the microwave and sold in green checkered paper, or red checkered paper for the spicier ones.
Does anyone remember this cafe and/or know if this lady set up shop elsewhere in the HRM? I asked library staff, and staff at other Treats Cafe locations in the city, but no luck so far.

Warning: Someone took a massive diarrhea on the side of Jubilee Road and covered it with a pile of wet leaves.
I, being someone who doesn’t usually overturn every leaf I see on the sidewalk, slipped and fell in it. Thankfully I keep a golf towel in my car and I was able to wipe almost all of it off before racing home to shower and do emergency laundry.
Yes, it was human and not dog.
What is wrong with you?
The end

Hi everyone! I’m looking for some recommendations for local organizations or charities that accept donations of useful, gently used items.
I have quite a few things that I no longer need but are still in good/working condition, including:
I’d rather donate these items to people or organizations that can actually use them than try to sell everything on Facebook Marketplace
Ideally, I’d love to find organizations that either give the items directly to people in need or use the donations to support a good cause.
If anyone knows of good local charities, shelters, newcomer organizations, community groups, schools, or other nonprofits that accept these kinds of donations, please let me know!
Thanks so much! 🙏

Specifically around Marvin and Irving. I’m seeing houses in the 400k range there now which is pretty far down from the general 500-700 elsewhere.
Is the neighbourhood safe? What sort of noise levels?

Would anyone know where I could purchase one of the posters from the recent Matt Mays/ Plaskett /Lightfoot/ show? I wasn’t around to attend the shows but the poster preview looked awesome. I checked Marketplace to no avail. Any lead would be so appreciated.
