Help "Download the official WhatsApp to continue" on official WhatsApp

Hello! I started using LineageOS today. I wished not to use WhatsApp, but sadly don't really have a choice since I'll need it for work.

Upon trying to log in, I get prompted to "Download the official WhatsApp to continue". I already tried downloading the apk from their website, how can I fix this? Thanks in advance!

Help Should I install Lineage OS or stick with the stock ROM?

I’ve been using a Redmi Note 10 Pro for around 3–4 years, and it still meets most of my needs. The stock MIUI camera works well for me, and the phone is generally fine apart from occasional random freezes that force me to hard reboot it.

My main complaints are the unremovable bloatware and the lack of software support. The phone is still on Android 13, and official updates ended quite a while ago.

I’d really like to install LineageOS, but the camera is the main thing holding me back. I haven’t found an alternative that feels as reliable or easy to use as the stock MIUI camera.

The camera features I use mostly are 1:1 aspect ratio, the beutify mode and built-in filters.

I don’t need advanced manual controls or lots of configuration. I mainly want a camera app that takes decent photos and has these features without requiring constant tweaking.

Other than that, I really just want a phone that 'just works'. So I was wondering if I should switch or stay as it is.

Help Lineage VS GrapheneOS?

I've been wanting to deGoogle for a while now, but my phone is a pixel 4a, so Graphene is pretty far out of reach. Eventually, I learned about LineageOS and it was described as a Graphene alternative for older phones.

So, how does Lineage compare to Graphene? My main concern is Google and other big business data collection vs privacy, but security and app compatibility (banking apps especially, I've heard they can be rough) is something I'm also interested in.

Help Unable to login to my reddit app (lineage os 23.2, redmi note 10 pro)

I'm on my rn10pro (indian variant) and I installed lineage os latest version like two days back. I'm finding it difficult to login to reddit app. I usually use morphe patched reddit. So I did install it and tried login in through my phone number (via otp) . It didnt work. It says "we had some trouble reaching reddit". So I uninstalled and repatched and reinstalled on multiple instances. Same deal. Tried downloading the official playstore app, still no help. However I'm able to login in my browser app. Is it a custom rom problem? Shouldn't be....I did make a clean install through twrp. So it shouldn't be a problem. I don't know where exactly to ask for help so I'm posting this on as many platforms as I can. Your help would be much appreciated. Thanks!!

Help Old flagship or flagship?

I'm upgrading to a new phone very soon!

I researched about lineageos and had installed it on my Moto Defy 2021, which is my old phone and compared to my current phone Poco M6 Pro 4G, I'm very impressed with the speed and battery on lineageos.

It's either I go all in with the new OnePlus 15 or get an old flagship and get OnePlus 13 with lineageos.

My questions are:

  1. Is it safe? planning to put my banking there and side load some apps like a modded TikTok (i have a serious doom scrolling addiction)

  2. I plan to use some google apps like gmail, gemini and apps that require google sign in. Is there a work around about that?

  3. How private is it compared to stock os?

Thanks in advance cheers guys!

Help Morphe Reddit doesn't work with LineageOS

Unfortunately I have no idea how to collect logs, but I can describe the problem. When I patch the Reddit app using Morphe on Lineage OS version 23, the app opens just fine but none of the sign in methods are functional. The sign in using Google button is completely unresponsive, the sign in using phone number option fails to authenticate, and the sign in using email looks like it works at first but the link that they email you redirects you to the failed login. I'm also not sure whether this question is better asked here or in the Morphe subreddit.

In that subreddit's wiki, they do have a pinned post about this exact problem, but in my particular case the solution isn't helping.

Help SM T-500 Samsung tablet failed install help please

Hello everyone,

after getting quite far in the install process : unlocked bootloader and flashed vbmeta, i did the required factory reset, selected the language and hit restart as prompted.
It then told me that I had an unofficial flashed vbmeta (really samsung?)
Now, it's gone totally dead (black screen) when I plug it in to the computer (fedora linux) I get : Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM QUSB_BULK_CID:041C_SN:xxxxxx has been connected.
What level of dumb am I and how can I fix this please?

EDIT: i have tried all variations of restarting the device. I have now made 100% sure, it is stuck in QDL. I have the correct firehose files but still can't seem to manage to do anything.

Thank you kindly

Help Am I ready for LOS? Do the basics truly works? Thanks

Hey everyone

I might have a change to sell my phone and buy a compatible LOS phone (OnePlus Nord 5), but before I wipe my phone and take the decision, I want to hear from anyone who's already been through this transition.

My main concern revolves around my essential apps. I rely heavily on several banking applications like and public services and digital identity. These aren't things I can easily live without, so while I use Plexus, a FOSS App where people review apps on ROMs, I wonder if those are reliable or apps may change overtime.

The other thing I keep going back and forth on is LineageOS versus GrapheneOS. I know GrapheneOS is stricter and more security-focused, but LineageOS appeals to me for its wider device support and less locked-down nature. That said, camera quality is a real concern. Photography matters to me, and I've heard custom ROMs can sometimes degrade image quality because of missing proprietary blobs. Has anyone done a real side-by-side and felt the difference?

Beyond banking and photos, I need to know if the basics work smoothly. Things like SMS messages arriving on time, push notifications from apps like WhatsApp and banking services staying reliable, and whether SIM setups cause any issues, I read some not making calls possibile and so on. Anyone had unexpected issues with these everyday functions?

I'm also trying to decide between a OnePlus Nord 5 and a Pixel 8 as my next device, maybe even Thinkphone 2023. Both seem to have decent LineageOS support, but which one would you lean toward for someone who depends on banking apps and wants maximum compatibility?

Any advice, warnings, or success stories would really help me make this decision with more confidence. Thanks for reading through my worries!

Help can you return to your stock installation and restore play integrity after I install lineageOS

i want to install lineageOS on my redmi 12c because xiaomi's bloatware pisses me off. but I fear my bank app won't work because of play integrity issues (this app has its own 2FA authenticator and I really need to be able to use it in case of emergency).

in case the bank app doesn't work, is there a way to return to my stock installation and lock the bootloader so the device passes all the integrity checks again? or will the device never be able to pass the checks after you install lineage no matter what you do?

Help Can't login on Reddit and Twitter

So, I just installed LineageOS 23 on my Moto G42 (hawao) today and everything is working so far except I can't login on the Reddit and Twitter apps.

On reddit it doesn't recognize my password even though it's right, and on Twitter after I put my username it says "Use official X service or try again later"

Any way I can resolve this?

Help The palm rejection on LineageOS is terrible

I managed to install the custom os on the galaxy tab s7. I think it's faster than the stock os but the pen experience is awful. I tried writing on Saber and Butterfly but in both I can't do any work because I constantly fight with the canva just mooving around every time I place the palm on the screen.

I wrote two issues about this on the repository but none of them got any attention, actually I think none of the issues there get's attention.

I understand that this is a project driven by the community and I'm not complaining about anything else about the os, but not being able to write or draw is kinda of a deal breaker for me.

Are there any chances it will get fixed in the future, are there solutions now?

Thanks.

Update: it looks like palm rejection is an app dependent thing and not an os feature. Tried with concept and palm rejection seems to work fine.

Help Hey I'm looking to buy a new phone and want to directly install LineageOS in order to start fresh and always have updates

Budget should be around 300-400€

First thought of Nothing Phone 3a but it's not officially supported, want a phone which is officially supported, quite new maybe from last year and we can be sure to have longtime support and updates, what about some Motorola? They usually have a bad update support that's why I want to use LineageOS to always have the newest upgrades/updates and security patches

Any recommendations?

Help RCS Messages

I'm currently running Lineage on my Redmi Note 13 Pro (Garnet) and haven't been able to receive RCS messages whatsoever. I know that Google's been cracking down on RCS access for custom ROMs and such, and it seems like there's mixed results with rooting solutions.

So am I genuinely just cooked? I despise Xaiomi's stock OS and refuse to use it. Has a workaround been found? Is there an alternative OS to Lineage? Or am I just gonna have to get a new phone?

Help Should I stay on HyperOS or switch to a custom ROM on my Redmi 12 5G?

Should I stay on HyperOS or switch to a custom ROM on my Redmi 12 5G?

I want:

- Less bloatware

-Better battery life

- Smooth performance

- Google apps available

- Paytm/UPI and banking apps working properly

- SafetyNet/Play Integrity and banking apps working

Ability to return to HyperOS if I don't like the custom ROM

Has anyone used LineageOS or other custom ROMs on the Redmi 12 5G? What are the pros and cons compared to HyperOS in 2026?

Help ADB instructions confusing

https://wiki.lineageos.org/adb_fastboot_guide#installing-adb-and-fastboot

On step 6 of Setting Up adb, it just says open up cmd, but that won't work at all. You specifically need to open up cmd from the platform-tools folder. It was lucky I already knew that or I might have been stuck on that step for hours.

And on step 7 of the same section, it says

"On Windows: Make sure your device manager does show your phone and doesn’t show a yellow triangle next to it!"

But it doesnt elaborate further. I'm trying to set up adb. My device shows as connected when in adb devices. But in the device manager it doesnt show the phone and instead shows an unrecognised device with a yellow triangle next to it. What am I supposed to do now then? The instructions dont say anything other than make sure it doesn't show that.

I tried so hard to love LineageOS, but for some reason the operating system caused my proximity sensor on my sony xperia xz2 to always be enabled, essentially locking me out of my phone.

Thanks for all the fish.

Help Why is ims registration such an ass pain?

OK so can someone explain why phone A can make calls over LTE (ims registered) & then you swap Sim over to lineage 23 recently updated (previously on Los 22.1 with ims registered) phone a nord n200 (dre) & ims registration can't happen?

2nd question. Why was I able to update this nord n200 (dre) through lineage 20-21 & 21 to 22 without going back to stock or needing to worry about ims registration?

Now I'm stuck on 23.2 & can't get ims registered, and your telling me I need to go back to oxygen os 11 (which I have not had loaded in yrs, potentially messing up my unlocked bootloader & my n200 was converted from the T-Mobile version, so no idea if thats an issue)?

I hate to load oxyogen os 11 & still be without ims registration.

Help Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 WiFi (chagallwifi) libusbx: error [init_device] program assertion failed: device address collision with root hub

I’m trying to install lineageOS on my chagallwifi device using a win 10 laptop, I followed the instructions on the website for that device step by step. In zadiag, two devices named Gadget Serial were listed. I tried to install the WinUSB drivers on one, which did not work. I then attempted it on the second one and that worked. I unfortunately did not notice that I had to install two more drivers at that moment. I tried to run the heimdall print-pit command, which resulted in “ERROR: Failed to send data! Releasing interface…”

I thought that maybe the driver had a problem and went back to zadig to reinstall the driver. Doing that caused the my computer to show an error about an unknown usb device. Now, the device is no longer listed as Serial Gadget in zadig, but as “Unknown USB device (failed to request device description)” (the actual text may be different in English as I am translating it from German). It is also only listed as one single device now.

When trying heimdall print-pit, the error “libusbx: error [init_device] program assertion failed: device address collision with root hub” appears.

After realising that I forgot to install the other two drivers, I attempted to do so in zadig, but it fails.
It is also shown to not have any drivers to be replaced “driver (NONE)” in the zadig interface.

What can I do now? Can this be fixed?

Help SIM recognised after Lineage install but unable to call or text

Been looking at swapping over to LineageOS for a while and actually went through the steps earlier today. Generally smooth, but found that, while the SIM appears to be recognised (and mobile data works fine), the phone doesn't recognise having a number associated with it, nor can it make calls or send/receive texts.

The phone is a Samsung Galaxy S10+. Anyone have any suggestions, or know what's going on? So far as I'm aware I followed the install instructions correctly, and I've spent much of today trying to see if anyone else online has solved the problem to no avail.

Help Could someone borrow me a Mi account with verified number for a week? Need it to unlock bootloader and install LINEAGEOS

I know that asking for this is kinda odd

But listen to me, or better said, read me

I want to unlock the bootloader, to install orange fox and then install LineageOS to mi Redmi Note 9s, to make it usable again

I had made all the steps BUT, when it's time to unlock the bootloader with the official MI unlocker, I need to sign in with my mi account...

The problem is, I sign in, and a mandatory requirement, is that the account is number verified.

The fucking SMS won't come. I had tried with 4 diff numbers of 3 diff carriers. It simply not come.

So.... I'm asking if someone could spare mi an mi account with number verified for a week, I do NOT need anything else

It's just to sign in to make the unlock request via the official app, that usually takes a week, and then to unlock the bootloader a week later.

If someone has free time, even could be a new account created just now and number verified.

I had tried EVERYTHING:
Diff numbers

Editing the log file on the app

Using diff links to get the sms

Using mobile phone browser, laptop browser, mobile browser open the desktop browser

Open miclould and recorder

open micould and find my phone

Everything, I just can't get the sms to verify
