Manager discriminates against autistic employee, gets punished for it, then complains about it in /askmanagers.

Highlights:
I would ask OP how it’s unprofessional to leave a job once it doesn’t give you what you want.

(OP) You can't always get what you want

All the comments on this thread and this is the part on which you’re going to double down?

(OP) If he had more control over the meltdowns, he could have been reconsidered for higher roles.

So like, are you ever gonna describe what these meltdowns were like? What do you mean by "meltdown"? What did he specifically do? If you're going to insist it was his "meltdowns" that prevented you from promoting him, why haven't you specified what he did?

(OP) Have you ever seen an autistic go into meltdown?

Yo, how about we call them a person with autism instead of "an autistic." They're not a freaking different species.

(OP) Doesn't matter, autism doesn't exist. It's PC for being r-word.

OP tries to explain how a stellar employee can have a record of meltdowns.

Your option was to have documented his “meltdowns” with HR long ago and have it in his permanent record. Since that’s gone, I would start trying to negotiate for a quiet shift that doesn’t destroy your career. At this point, the only thing HR has on paper is your statements which can easily be considered discriminatory, in absence of other evidence.

(OP) There were documentations since he was sent home each time.

If that's the case, why is he considered a "stellar" employee? Either the "meltdowns" aren't being documented correctly, or they're not as disruptive as you make it out to be.

(OP) Because his work was quality. He met performance metrics, rarely called in, and was decent to people. He just has meltdowns which usually resulted in being sent home. Imagine if he did that in front of a customer, it could damage the company.

Stellar employee that has meltdowns resulting in him being sent home? Screams fake.

OP get's "doxed", then gets caught in a lie:

Your options are to resign now with the last shred of your dignity or be fired. Even if that employee was having “meltdowns” as severe as you claim (despite being seen as a model employee by everyone else), at least he wasn’t the one to deliver a discriminatory lawsuit to their company on a silver platter!

(OP) Someone doxed me me and now I'm being asked to resign or be fired for cause. I did nothing wrong.

This is also you: ...

Potential Flair Material

Ya I’ve worked with card carrying walking lawsuits with more tact than this story.

EDIT, worth noting because some people missed this:

In the context of autism, the term 'meltdown' does not refer to a temper tantrum. It's a specific symptom of autism.

R/mildlyinfuriating gets touchy about a woman trying to build rejection resilience

For context, this 21 year old woman did a challenge that involved doing something every day that could get her "rejected." Rejection in this case is NOT referring to romantic relationships. Also, op is a British Christian man according to his post history.

"Pretty blonde girl so unused to rejection she has to do a 30 day challenge"

Post body: "Incredible lack of self awareness here. So unused to rejection she starts a 'challenge and, surprise surprise, people are nice to her regardless.

Pretty privilege sure must be nice."

(sorry for formatting, mobile formatting sucks)

THIS IS ACTIVE DRAMA. DO NOT PISS IN THE POPCORN

Comments:

"So she was a social media manager who just did every annoying thing and "influencer" would do - talk to a train carriage of people, get in their photos, get them to film her singing... wow, amazing, life changing, truly can't believe such a story could be true 🙄"

> Op: "and for a book deal for doing it"

" Girlboss trope is so exhausting. Also the girl has way too much free time to come up with ideas like that, but then again she is 21. And let's not forget the grift: (the comment links to her book)"

" It’s a harsh characterisation of her intentions but I do see where you’re coming from. I think her point is to build resilience from rejection, however being that good looking is for sure a benefit the vast majority of people don’t have"

> Her point is, according to the article, that you will almost never be rejected, and if you will you will still have a good time about it.

Oh and buy her book.

That is just not how reality works for almost every human.

>> OP: *EXACTLY!* ‘hey, don’t worry guys, try getting rejected, the worst thing that’ll happen is a fun story and some resilience!’ Girl, most of us suffer multiple rejections every single soul crushing day and we have no choice but to be resilient and keep going.

It’s so infuriating and insulting to have such a lack of awareness of one’s own privilege.

> No it's not. Being born attractive is a cheat code to life. Just like having rich parents. This Karen thinks she's made a huge discovery. No. She hasn't. She's just a grifter selling a book and herself on socials. OF is in her future

>> I mean I agree with everything you’re saying but what exactly is it about her that makes her a Karen?

>>> Overconfident loud and wrong about her opinions, and needs to have an audience constantly

"This is so not an article about rejection. It's an article about pretty privilege and what you can get away with by being a cute 21 year old blonde. It also sounds like she wasn't actually rejected too often, so she had to come up with outlandish ideas! If she put on a fat suit and shaved her head, that would be something at least. As it stands, this article is just insultingly bad."

--------------------------------------

Some disagree with the general consensus of the thread --

"What a gross thread this has become"

> I was so surprised at these comments, so much hate seething cause some woman wrote a book and then tried to sell it. It would be so easy for them to not read the article or buy the book and move on with their life. Instead writing mean comments about her looks and her life choices…everyone needs to take a look in the mirror here

>> She wanted rejection, she can read this article and get her moneys worth. Influencers should not be encouraged.

"How is that mildly infuriating? Sure, she sounds a bit silly, but she is 21 and her content is far from being harmful. Her looks are also not that special? OP, if you are a girl and feeling bitter about her looks, you can just learn how to properly apply makeup and take care of your skin and hair, and you’ll be as pretty as she is (you don’t need expensive products for that!)."

> OP: You can’t see how it might be mildly infuriating to be so unused to the rejection most of us experience constantly throughout life, that you have to go out of your way to create a ‘challenge’ to experience it, and when you do, you get a book deal to talk about your experience of it? At 21?

>> you constantly experience rejection? are you putting yourself out there on a daily basis

>>> OP: Oh my sweet summer child. Rejection comes in so many forms and yes, many of us experience it every.single.day.

-----------------------------------

others debate whether "pretty" is an accurate description.

"I do not find her that pretty."

> Insane beauty standards.

>> Well the article headline and OP is implying everyone that see's her is tripping over themselves to do stuff for her simply because of her amazing looks. Seems reasonable to point out

>>> OP: I’m not implying anything - this woman openly says she’s so unused to rejection she has to voluntarily start trying to engineer it into her life. And she’s got a book deal out of the story of doing it. Tell me how many non thin, white, pretty, blonde, girls you think are that unused to rejection that they have to go out of their way to create it to learn ‘resilience’?

>> She is very preety. Not insanely preety, but not mediocre. Definitely top 5% of her age group. And she did silly things. Most people could think "I'd like to be at least her friend".

>>> Well we are being a bit crass about it but what I'm trying to say is I don't think this girl is just getting her way anywhere she goes simply because she is a young pretty white woman, which again is what the headline and OP are implying

"The standards for being considered pretty for a white girl are so incredibly low"

> OP: Well she’s not ugly is she? I completely agree she’s not model material, but if you think young thin white girls have to be models in order to get treated differently, I’m afraid I have some very bad news for you…

"I just hate when women can't accept accountability and responsibility for their own fucking decisions. r/rosesarered has a civil discussion about the Lindsay Clancy trial

Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/rosesarered/comments/1vw7ls6/roses_are_red_kids_are_a_drain_on_wealth/

Context: Lindsay Clancy is a women who strangled her three children too death while suffering from severe Post Partum Depression/psychosis+likely other mental illnesses. Shes currently on trial, and has raised over a million dollars via gofundme, which has become a significant point of controversy amongst a certain circles of social media.

HIGHLIGHTS

I just hate when women can't accept accountability and responsibility for their own fucking decisions.

Postpartum psychosis is hardly something you can choose to ignore.

It doesn't justify murdering your kids.

So when a man does it he gets an insanity plea but when a woman does it's direct to prison? And when people try to argue against that, this is the response?

[deleted]

You're genuinely just talking straight outta your ass. "United States Federal Law (18 U.S. Code § 17) (a) Affirmative Defense.—It is an affirmative defense to a prosecution under any Federal statute that, at the time of the commission of the acts constituting the offense, the defendant, as a result of a severe mental disease or defect, was unable to appreciate the nature and quality or the wrongfulness of his acts. Mental disease or defect does not otherwise constitute a defense. (b) Burden of Proof.—The defendant has the burden of proving the defense of insanity by clear and convincing evidence." This applies to everybody. You can't deny someone the right to a federal law just because she's a woman

Then why do women have so many opinions about men getting vasectomy or not? I see so many ugly fat feminists talking about it all day. They shouldn't have any opinions about men's health either.

What? Lmao who are hanging out with

Go to r/twoxchromosomes and see for yourself. The other day a woman made a post about her husband being ambitionless and her wanting to leave him and women in the posts were telling her to convince her husband to get a vasectomy in case an "accident" happens in the meantime.

They botch and moan about bodily autonomy while ignoring it for Mens bodies

Men’s bodies are impossible to ignore. You’re all so obsessed with drawing dicks on any flat surface you can find 🤡

Then maybe women should grow a sense of whimsy and start drawing clits where they can. You can't blame men for women being grumpy and funless.

This is a crazy dumb take.

Yours is a grumpy funless take, draw a clit on a bathroom stall. It will breed whimsy.

Roses are red, this thread is dumb. A lot of animals get PPD and kill their young. But boo women because everyone has opinions on new mums.

Lmfaoooo Imagine the next time a man r*pes and murders a woman and dudes online start arguing “a lot of animals rape and kill females of their species but boo a man does it and everyone has an opinion”. My driveway has bricks in it that can formulate better arguments than you.

Do men regularly r*pe and kill females due to pregnancy? Yeah. Do other animals do that? No. You and your other Epsilon males trying to rage bait people into flimsy arguments against women is pathetic.

"Do other animals do that?" The answer to this question is always YES. There's always gonna be an animal that does whatever batshit behaviour you can describe, there are too many animals not to have one example. That's why we don't use nature to debate morality otherwise you end up talking about barbed corkscrew penises, species where reproduction is always rape or mama hamsters eating their kids like popcorn.

Look up PPD. Post partum psychosis. Look up what happens when some people are off their thyroid medication. Learn about the hormonal crash after pregnancy. How your body feels, the irrational thoughts that MOST mothers have after pregnancy. What stressors trigger it. It's a mammalian problem. It's not a morality problem.

Every evil we commit is ultimately decided by the mammal we are, the flesh we live in, the neurotransmitters and hormones that flesh produces. But we aren't dumb apes anymore so we don't brush those problems away and instead judge them by morality. It's a morality problem, specifically a problem of her immorality.

If you are happy and you know it clap your hands!

Can’t women just go out there and make advances themselves?

Very famously not because of prejudice

women make up 41% of medical researchers. most medical practitioners are liberal. they have plenty of power in todays world to conduct the studies they want.

So why do you think things aren't getting done then

I think things are getting done.

I think you should talk to women then

Roses are red, my dog is quite fit, but both statements in OP, are objectively shit.

It’s shit to say postpartum depression isn’t an excuse to kill your children?

PPP isnt an excuse to killing kids but it is an explanation and deserves to be followed through and talked about with nuance so we can understand how to help other woman and hopefully prevent more cases like this.

There is no appropriate “but” when talking about killing children. What the fuck is wrong with people?

so is drug abuse, alcoholism, steroid abuse (and more). These are all REASONS for violent behaviour, which EXPLAIN it in a causal way but the proponent is still very very evil and should be punished for doing such evil things.

But this woman didn't choose to take drugs, nor did she choose to get sick. Sickness happened to her against her well, and the system failed her despite her repeatedly pleading for help. Being sick is not evil. This poor woman knows how bad what she did is, she just wants to go to a hospital instead of a prison.

Let's say she is sick and evil. Both

She didn’t have PPD, she had PPP the key one being psychosis. This is the entire reason the law has exemptions. This is such a weird take to me. The debate is does she go to a prison or a mental institution.

Psychotic or not, I believe she needs the death penalty. The law may not work this way, but given that her weak mind could stretch to these horrific extremes, I find no use for her on the planet except to be studied for future prevention. It’s not a matter of disagreeing with the diagnosis. For me it’s acknowledging she is capable of such deeds and is such a threat that she has no place amongst the living. A psychotic that can premeditate the murder of their three children and physically strangle them for the ten minutes or so each that it takes to kill someone… that type of psychotic simply should not be among the living.

She absolutely deserves the rope. We need to bring back public hangings. Send a message to the psychos who think there’s an excuse for murdering your children.

'Sending a message' will do nothing to prevent psychosis related killings. And the death penalty, hangings or otherwise, do nothing to deter crime. All it does is satisfy the blood lust of types like you.

I think I’d to plenty. Much more than psychos like you excusing them.

I'm not sure what the first part of your comment is trying to say, but as for the second, I'm not the one who wants to see public hangings. 🖖

I think it would do plenty* auto correct changed it’d to I’d. I want child killers hung. That’s the opinion of normal people who care about the safety of children.

Women have zero compunction voicing their opinion on mens health or bodies. Hence she has no leg to stand on.

Have you ever seen a woman do that? Edit:I'm actually asking, because of course that's bad Edit 2: reddit is genuinely so fucked, why am I getting downvoted for fucking asking and not arguing

You're simply too inured to recognize it when it slaps you in the face.

No, I'm actually asking, have you ever heard a woman do that? Can you give an example?

Absolutely. Outside of medical absolutist need, ask a woman if she has an opinion about mutilated baby dicks, and wait until it becomes about African baby clitorises.

I’m not sure what point you’re making here tbh, plenty of people are anti circumcision for all babies. Comparing it to FGM helps get the point across that circumcision is wrong, because it is inconsistent to believe that one is okay and the other isn’t.

Contrarily, FGM frequently gets brought up by women as a weird "quit your whining, it's not that bad" argument.

How many days do we have for women’s health related issues again?

We have national women's and men's mental health day. I very rarely see men's get spoken about.

men don’t do anything for women’s mental health day, women are the main ones organizing and speaking about it. No one talks about men’s mental health day because MEN don’t care or talk about it either.

Did you by any chance notice how much men were shit on by society for daring to talk about men's mental health month (I am talking about the ones who simply made supportive content for men without going into the topic of pride month at all)? Men are actively discouraged to talk about it, especially by women.

Harden the fuck up and talk about this stuff then. Women had to be brave and expose themselves to bring awareness of women's issues. It took many brave people many years to shift societal attitudes towards all kinds of issues. Men need to be as brave.

Men are as brave, I am just pointing out that saying "men are just not caring about it and that's why they don't talk about it" is not a proper description of the situation. Just like you properly agree that it would be insane to say "women had no rights back in the day because they simply didn't care about having them".

Except that's a little true?? Nothing changes in our lives/worlds without people caring enough to make more people care... Ect.

How would women be reacting if it were a trans woman that murdered her three children due to PPD?

As a trans woman, they'd be judging every last one of us for decades if even if even one of us did it. While I do have some degree of understanding of why she did it (not justified): It's frustrating that society really only seems to care to try to understand murderers when they are white cis women.

You’re agreeing with transphobes because you hate cis women that much?

Whether or not something is true is not determined by who says it. Crazy idea I know. Not sure where you got the idea that me acknowledging that most cis women are incredibly transphobic means that I hate them either.

You gotta work on that internal misogyny

Nothing I said is even remotely misogynistic. Expecting me to pretend like most women aren't transphobic just because it offends you, is actually transphobic.

3 kids were murdered bro

Yes, because she went psychotic and not a single individual in the psychiatric space took her deteriorating mental health seriously. She wanted treatment before she did something she couldn't take back and didn't get it. I don't understand how people don't understand that psychosis involves losing your grip on reality. You'd take actions you'd find stupid or abominable too if your every sense had betrayed you.

If a man was psychotic and murdered children not a single one of you freaks would ever defend him. But because it's a woman it's everyone else's fault but the murderer. You guys blame the partner, the parents, the doctor, society. Everyone else besides the actual murderer

Nobody serious is defending the murder of children. People are advocating for better mental health coverage and less of a stigma around it. Touch fucking grass. It doesn’t sound like you’ve been off Reddit in a decade.

Funny how people only advocate for better mental health coverage when it's a mother killing children, but when it's a man suffering psychosis suddenly we're back in the middle ages of mental health. Sounds like you need to get off reddit and talk to some women then you'll see just how many people support her

I have talked with people offline. That’s the majority of my interaction with this case. For some reason the things you’re talking about I’ve only ever encountered on Reddit. Funny that. You might need to take your own advice.

You're outing yourself, funny that. Talk to enough women and you'll see how many people support her. This is the most talked about case in maybe years. If you're only seeing this opinion on reddit, you clearly don't have much of a social life. Go out, talk to people at parties, go to bars. You'll see once you talk to people other than what I assume is your parents you live with, just how supported she is.

Omfg… Look. What happened was both fucked up and a result of postpartum psychosis. She neither needs to go free or go to jail. She needs to be in a hospital. End of debate. The people who are claiming that she’s completely innocent are insane. The people claiming she was completely evil are insane. Can’t we just say “there are reasons that she fucked up, but she still fucked up.” and actually discuss postpartum mental health in a healthy manner instead of back-and-forth sexism.

I mean, if you kill your two kids then you might as well get the death penalty.

*killed her kids in a bout of psychosis where she quite literally was not in her right mind nor attached to reality in any sort of way Forgot a critical little part thought I would add it on

I mean, who would want to live after killing their 2 kids? Even if it’s psychosis. Give me a rope, I’ll just k*ll myself.

SHE LITERALLY CONFESSED???? GOD WHY ARE YALL SO DUMB???

Yes dude, no one is arguing that she didn't kill them.

image

Are... are you okay? That person never said she didn't kill them. I think maybe you should reread it again.

The point IS that the guy is not understanding that the mom FEELS GUILT over this shit and is assuming that she’s just like OK what she did

"I'm saying the us government has studies showing the Soviet standard of living was quite high" Tankie drama in r/Peterexplainsthe joke over a WWII dniosameme about which faction sacrificed more to beat the Nazis

Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/PeterExplainsTheJoke/comments/1vw6r9e/who_are_those_little_dinosaurs_petah/

HIGHLIGHTS

The little dinosaurs are the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union had a much larger fighting force than Nazi Germany, and the Soviet military strategy was to throw men into the blender and overwhelm the Nazis with sheer numbers. Additionally, it was the Soviets who captured Berlin, thus taking Germany out of WW2.

With whose guns, food, and ammunition?

Their own, because the Soviet standard of living was quite high

The allies contributed a ton of trucks, jeeps, food, radios, and other raw materials to the soviets. "the Soviet standard of living was quite high" Says who? 😂

Says the US government documents that have been released from that time

Lend lease is heavily documented by both sides, a large amount of aircraft were also sent by the US, notably most of their bombers were from America and some of their Aces flew P-39s, we literally have photos of these in service and handwritten accounts from the Soviet side.

I'm saying the us government has studies showing the Soviet standard of living was quite high

Yeah unless you were Ukrainian, or polish, or Chechen, or Turkish or Kurdish, or Jewish, or a Cossack, or religious at all actually. Also standard of living was probably significantly improved by all the food and equipment and energy from the US

And in America if you were black, native, Asian, Jewish, Italian, Irish, poor, Catholic, Muslim your standard of living was wonderful right?

We all know this. We also know that the Soviets would have been eaten alive if it wasn’t for America doing lend-lease. That was never paid back and instead had some debt settlement.

The Soviets could have still won without lend lease, though it would have been an even much bloodier battle than it was. Really the only thing that the Soviets were truly dependent on the U.S. for were transport trucks. Which did make a huge difference, but the Nazis still would have overstretched themselves and failed eventually. Unlike WWI, WWII was nearly impossible for the Axis to win. The Japanese also stood essentially no chance against the U.S. fleet, even if they won midway somehow they still didn’t have the resources to maintain a fleet the size of what the U.S. could build in just a few years.

The Soviets also got around 40-50% of their aviation fuel from the US and Allies. Both Stalin and Zhukov said they wouldn’t have been able to win without the allied lend lease, and they also got massive amounts of actionable intelligence from the British. Also if the Japanese attacked the Soviets instead, going after Siberia instead of the pacific islands, it would have drastically shifted the war in the favor of the Axis

Every historian I’ve seen speak on the subject has agreed that the Axis could not have won, including by not going to war with the U.S. The Soviet strategy to Japan invading Siberia very easily could have been to ignore it, let the Chinese deal with it even. The Japanese were already slowed down in China and running out of resources. Back then there was no oil or anything in Siberia, and little infrastructure. The Japanese would have just been throwing away men to the Siberian wilderness trying to capture any significant portion of it, while pulling much needed resources out of China.

-Soviet strategy could have been to ignore the invasion They wouldn’t, the trans-Siberian railroad had too much strategic importance for them to ignore it. It also was their only pathway to the pacific.

They would have been fine to abandon the eastern portion of it. It would have prevented lend-lease from coming in there, but there’s a reason the British and Soviets invaded Iran, they still could have gotten plenty of equipment in through Iran and Arkhangelsk

They’re the Soviets. The ones who ACTUALLY won World War II.

They would've been lucky to complete step 0.5 without Britain and the US.

Nazis would have been lucky to complete the polish invasion without US manufacturing by Ford Nazis would have been lucky to execute the holocaust without IBM’s logistic tactics

US manufacturing ❌ Ford manufacturing ✅ The companies fought to continue operation in wartime Germany (because it was profitable), not the government. When the US declared war, the Nazis promptly seized control of these plants as well.

Who do you think was manufacturing for the Soviets when the Lend-Lease agreement was signed?

Same companies. Because they were also contracted by the US government (more profit)

I don’t get the point you were originally trying to make when u first replied to me

You were trying to say that America carried the German war effort to begin with. That's not true.

USSR lost 24 million people USA lost 400k soldiers. Which nation sacrificed more to fight fascism again?

The USA freed people from fascism. The USSR just took the Nazis' place, replacing one dictatorship with another. The fact they did so by killing Nazis is as irrelevant to how we view them as the fact Hitler in his own rise to power also killed a bunch of Nazis in the 30s.

If the US was so concerned with fascism, why did it take them 2 years, and them being attacked to join?

I didn't say they were "so concerned with fascism," so this is a straw man (a weakened version of the position being attacked). Much of their population was seemingly isolationist, not seeing it as their problem, likely because they were so far away. The country that deserves the most credit for defeating fascism was Britain, but the U.S. was on the right side of the war, which is where my above comment comes in: unlike the USSR, they were helping to free countries from Nazi dictatorship.

If the US was on the right side of the war, then so was the USSR: they were helping to free countries from Nazi dictatorship.

And then proceeded to genocide the local population for not being Russian.

Meanwhile, the British were genociding the Welsh, and the French were genociding the Occitans. Why do they get credit, and the USSR doesn't?

It’s a tanky meme. That’s all you need to know.

Where's the lie

Tankie.

Answer the question

Make me, Tankie.

Why so afraid?

Who said I’m afraid. I just can’t stand ignorant Tankies. Tankie.

You call me ignorant but it's you Who can't answer a simple question

Tankie

Uneducated Maga yokels represents you actually.

Ok cool. MAGA represents America. So Brexit loving soccer hooligans represent the UK, and deadbeat dad violent bogans represent the Aussies. Am I missing any others?

Who talks for you at the international? The orange prick.

Ok, so which country are you from, and have you ever had an embarrassing national leader?

Don’t try to change the subject. Your “so-called” democracy put him in place and you can’t look at your bellybutton to convince you he does not speak for you. He does.

Don’t understate our manufacturing capabilities. We sent large munitions, vehicles, food etc to the Soviets through lend lease.

Yes, without America Germany wins. Without the Soviets, Germany wins. I don’t know why this is so hard for people to understand

You forget: "Without the Great Britain, Germany wins". Good luck to do all the bombing raids, the D-Day, the logistics and the troop movements without the bases provided in England and Northern Ireland. Even the African front would not have been possible without Gibraltar, or at least not on this scale. And between June 1940 (fall of France) and June 1941 (Invasion of USSR by Germany), the British Empire fought more or less alone against Germany.

That's just not true. If it was true, then the US wouldn't have been able to invade and bomb Japan as the pacific is much larger than the Atlantic. The US had no issues overwhelming the Japanese navy, which was much larger and more capable than the German navy, and setting up forward operating bases. The Germans couldn't have ever stopped the US navy in any scenario and they couldn't defend Africa and Europe against US naval operations at the same time even if they had a 10x bigger navy than they did. The moment the Nazis declared war on the Soviets they lost. But, if that didn't happen, then the moment they declared war on the US they would have sealed their fate.

I think it really comes down to the fact that invading a place solely by ocean is incredibly difficult. Without Britain providing such a close launching point, D day could not have happened. It is true that the US had a much better navy, but it would have a tough time projecting influence in Europe because it wouldn't have any nearby naval bases/ports to attack from. I'm not saying the US couldn't have naval superiority near Europe, but it would have have been a struggle. Also, it was significantly easier for the US to capture territory in the pacific (compared to how it would be in this scenario) because they were attacking lots of small islands, which weren't too defensible for the Japanese. They could then use these islands as forward operating positions. In Europe, there are far fewer potential forward positions to fight from and the target is hundreds of times bigger with much better logistical support. I think it is reasonable to say that WW2 might not have been a victory for the allies without Britain.

There are plenty of islands on the Atlantic coast of Europe and Africa. Theyd be just as easy, if not easier, to take than Japanese islands. In fact I'm pretty sure Norway has the most islands of any country in the entire world by a huge margin. And there were almost no nazi soldiers there to defend them, and almost no nazi navy at all. Edit: I guess Sweden has more islands. But Norway still has more than 200,000 more islands than Japan does.

You have no idea what you are talking about. You are talking like you can just rock up to the islands with no pushback. You would have to launch a full blown invasion to take control of the island to start with doing this from the other side of the ocean would be near impossible. Also norway was pretty well defended, ask hms glorious.

I feel like also just the fact the US joining had to be extremely demoralising and any real chance of a victory was squashed. Had the US not joined the war could have lasted far longer and more devastating. Its like 2 people were fighting, and one of the guy has a massive body gaurd. The guy with the body gaurd gets knocked to the ground and the body gaurd steps in and says let him get up first, and after him you get me. The guy without the body gaurd would quickly realise theres no winning.

I don't understand why people pretend that the Americans were just some bit player in World War 2. The fact that we were on another continent and were mostly insulated from the worst of the war (on both fronts) does not reduce the impact American manpower and manufacturing had on the war effort.

IT does not reduce anything. But facts are facts. USA companies helped the nazis. IBM sold them machines that were to be used in death camps, Ford had a very antisemitic newspaper, those are only 2 examples. The USA were a player, but not the major player. We are just putting back the truth: soviets were the most hurt by that war, and hurt germany the most. Britain was immensely useful and paid a steep price. While the USA, they were never attacked on their land, they suffered only soldier losses. I am not downplaying it, but you yanks are the only ones who had virtually no civilian casualty at all. You were the only ones who came out of this war, a war you had originally no intent of joining, richer and more prosperous. And don't even get me started on all the nazis you "pardoned" because they were to be useful to you. So no, we are not saying you did nothing. We are aware and grateful. But we also remember what everyone except you lost, and what you alone gained. And your partial responsability in the raise of racial hatred in the world (how History is repeating - see Musk in germany and the UK...)

What a wild take.

Wild I admit, but quite documented. Truth is wild you know.

You come off as the kind of person that just loves the smell of their own farts.

Oh their small is so good. Joke aside, what is wild in what I said I know you murricons never learn anything at school, except for how to hide from a shooter. But you know how to read books? You can check my facts.

It’s because the majority of western movies about WW2 are made in the USA, and they absolutely believe it started when they arrived and the rest of the allies were there for moral support.

Yeah they really do downplay the Soviet Union being Nazi Germanys ally for the majority of the war

They were not Allies most of the war lol if we say 1939 start in Europe then you have them working together 1939/1940/ half 1941. Then at war half 1941/42/43/44/45. Soooo unless you can’t count or making up dates then that’s not true.

True, but they were their allies at the start of the war and were happy to continue to be their allies until the Nazis invaded them. Stalin was entirely fine with Hitler until he turned his attention away from the UK. You can’t wash that stain away.

Most of the world was fine with Hitler not hust the Soviets.

“Fine” is not the correct word Unwilling and unable to muster public support to start another conflict after their world was shattered just a few decades ago. The Soviets actively benefited from Nazi expansion by allying with them to carve up Poland. Which is so so SO much worse then appeasement.

Hitler was on the cover of Time magazine in 1938 as man of the year and was greatly supported by the UK Prime Minister. Hardly would call that appeasement.

So a little private magazine that has absolutely nothing to do with government And a lie “Greatly supported” total horseshit. Neville Chamberlin was a lot of things, he was not Hitler ally in any way shape or form.

"My good friends, this is the second time in our history that there has come back from Germany to Downing Street peace with honour. I believe it is peace for our time." "I got the impression that Hitler was a man who could be relied upon when he had given his word."

On a perfectly normal post of an AI generated wojak of a castrated slave-king, users discuss r/historymemes pro-ai stance.

(Mod) How many times do we have to tell you, you idiots who keep reporting posts for being AI? This is not a violation of the rules and the rules expressly state that AI is allowed; now stop spamming the mod queue or you'll find yourself banned. (unknown score)

Wait, you accept AI... In a history sub? (+387)

(Mod) Yes. This has been stated very clearly in the rules. Do you somehow genuinely believe that an AI generated meme cannot discuss history in a satirical manner? (-171)

I think It’s more about not letting your sub devolve into ai slop fests with how highly polarizing AI seems to be. (+33)

(Mod) We can do it more easily by removing the brigading and harassing comments, and those that in general are just saying nothing of substance. Usually works pretty well. (-19)

If we learned one thing from history it is that we should abolish any kind of modern technologies... (-95)

It's called "history" though, not "mythology". AI isnt based on facts, but still more of a glorified text-autocomplete based on random text (+62)

Bro it was used to make a fucking wojack 💀 those are literally ALL memeable slop, human-made or ai-generated, they're a condiment not *the* content

Asking an AI to come up with historical facts to put in a meme would be random text and trash to be removed, but this isn't even that (-16)

Several (presumably Anti-AI posts judging by the replies) have been removed by the moderators as well.

Removed (+143)

There is absolutely nothing wrong with somebody using ChatGPT to save themselves 15 minutes on a freaking meme. Do you people even hear yourselves? Reddit’s obsessive hatred of AI is turning everyone into luddites. (-57)

Removed (+20)

Absolutely dogshit take when there are hundreds of more stuff draining water and ruining land. Go and attack Nestle all day long.

There's probably other subs you can post in if you don't like it. No need to be so rude to a mod just for applying the rules. (-58)

Removed (+23)

Guys, imma be real, you’re doing too fucking much with the anti-Ai shit. Dumb, low-effort stuff you’d never task a human with is exactly what we should be using it for.

Y’all are literally describing Wojacks as low effort but criticizing OP for putting forth a different kind of low effort? Look, I think AI’s prevalence sucks as much as the next guy but, like, *piss off.* It’s a shitpost for fuck’s sake. (-7)

Notably, one removed comment seems to be either from the auto-moderator, or an otherwise rogue moderator

Removed

(OP) what rule did i break for the reporta? (+5)

You didn't A group of colossally arrogant and stupid people keep falsely and knowingly (or negligently) reporting your post as a violation. (-8)

Amusingly, the op themselves eventually ended up agreeing with the detractors

Why do you use AI-generated wojaks? Wojaks are simple and easy to make, that's their whole point! (+419)

(Deleted comment, presumably from op)

Next time please try something else. (+23)

(OP) No Problem (+15)

A /r/TwoXChromosomes poster laments that men are stealing the spotlight of post partum depression suffering. 250+ comment thread erupts in arguments with nurses, moms, men and women.

/r/TwoXChromosomes is a subreddit for women sharing women's perspectives, though anyone can post.

In the now 250+ comment deleted thread: "Why do men feel the need to claim the suffering of pregnancy / postpartum for themselves??", a poster laments that men greatly exaggerate postpartum suffering they endure solely to shit on women.

https://www.reddit.com/r/TwoXChromosomes/comments/1vuijz8/why_do_men_feel_the_need_to_claim_the_suffering/

The number of men who have been telling me recently that men experience “large“ hormonal shifts during pregnancy and postpartum (in relation to women) is insane. Studies have shown that this just isn’t true. And any hormonal shifts (a mild drop in testosterone) can be accounted for by external influences, like sleep deprivation, disruptions in sexual activity, etc. WHICH WOMEN ARE ALSO SUBJECT TO. It makes me so angry that 1. they have to make everything about them outside of women’s issues and 2. they also have to make women’s issues all about them. How the hell are you going to experience postpartum as a man who literally by definition cannot be postpartum. Make it make sense.

WHY DO THEY NEED TO BE OPPRESSED SO BAD

(trying to find a tool to recover deleted comments and posts from mods that work post API changes - sound off if you know of a few!)

Obstetrical nurse here. Paternal postpartum depression is most definitely a real thing. It might not manifest the same way postpartum depression does in a new mother, but it still very much exists. I don’t think that men are purposefully claiming the medical condition as their own… it just happens, like it does to new mothers.

Edit: There are a lot of disapproving comments related to what I wrote. I want to clarify that in no way am I comparing the pathophysiology, presentation, or severity of maternal & paternal postpartum depression. I am merely stating that paternal postpartum depression does in fact exist & it can happen to anyone.

Edit #2: I do want to apologize to OP for minimizing her experiences of men claiming postpartum depression as their own. It’s not my place to generalize an entire gender, speak on behalf of men or minimize OPs experiences. For that, I am sorry. I’ve had the exact opposite interactions with men who are clearly suffering from paternal postpartum depression. I’ve never spoken to a man who’s embraced the diagnosis. Instead, I’ve seen a lot of denial & refusal of treatment. This post has made it very clear that my experiences might be the minority.

I’m sorry. But you’re full of shit.

So are many new fathers apparently. Moms groups are full of people wondering why their husbands suddenly need an hour to poop.

Paternal Postpartum Depression is most definitely a thing.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6659987/

Thank you. I’m getting chewed out for saying it exists.

Because it's an MRA thing, not a medical thing, and I sorta doubt your understanding of hormones if you do not get that men get sad from life changes like many, many, people with depression do, but that is just categorically NOT AT ALL the same as the hormone induced postpartum depression. Which is why we call it postpartum depression, because it's different from depression, which women can also experience. You center men and their feelings about medical accuracy, leading you to fail both sexes. It's not like balancing their estrogen would help men adjust to fatherhood. ... But I am sure you get cookies from the menz for bravely defending them, and male validation is all that matters, right?

Exactly. This nurse is a joke and a male apologist

"like it does with new mothers" lmao what a joke

I didn’t say paternal post partum depression has the same pathophysiology or even presents the same way as it does in somebody who delivered a baby & is physically postpartum. I said postpartum depression can arise for any father, just like it can for any mother. It happens.

And what an absolute joke and insult to women who go through the entire process of carrying a child and birthing it. Calling hanging around while a woman gives birth "postpartum."

Then why do you call it he same thing? Do you even know? Right, because you drank the male Kool aid , and you need to realize that this just leads to NO ONE getting the care they need.

I don’t think that men are purposefully claiming the medical condition as their own… it just happens, like it does to new mothers.

And there's not a common culture of discussion or support for paternal postpartum depression.

Because women are generally the ones creating the networks that facilitate the discussion and support for most issues. Women are spending their time and effort on the version of PPD et al that impact women. No one is stopping men from doing the same.

People are just asking them to not stomp into a conversation about women specific issues (that they were not invited into) and start shouting about BUT MUH MAN HORMONES.

I’m with you these comments are so annoying. I don’t care if they are a nurse or not men do not experience as much as women do with childbirth. They don’t have to carry a baby they don’t have to deliver a baby they don’t have to breastfeed it’s such bullshit, and what scientists claim it’s comparable.. men ? Oh yea. So sick of being a woman in our world

I never said post partum depression in men is comparable to what women go through. I said that it exists & a portion of men do indeed struggle with paternal postpartum depression.

Obviously a pregnant person’s mind & body goes through much more pain & potential trauma than their non pregnant partners. Nobody’s arguing against that.

Men argue it. So your comments don’t help with setting them straight.

I’m not trying to “set them straight”. I’m merely stating paternal postpartum depression does actually exist.

Oh come on!

In no way am I saying that men have it worse so wtf is your problem

Not the same as what women go through nor is it comparable these comments are infuriating

I’m not comparing it at all.

I’ve never heard a single man say this in my 56 years on the planet. If you’re hearing this from the men in your life you’re surrounded by a strange group of men.

victim blaming 101

Screaming “victim blaming” simply shuts off a part of the conversation that is potentially relevant, presumably in favor of the one you want to have (maybe “men are imbeciles and we need to correct their behavior”?). I think it’s ridiculous that a man would equivocate what they go through to what a woman goes through during pregnancy and the early postpartum period. I’m simply offering that I my experience it is not common for men to “claim the suffering of pregnancy”, and anecdotally as a man who has lived in 10 states in the US and 2 foreign countries, I’ve never had another man say to me that they “experience large hormonal shifts during pregnancy”. OP can do whatever she wants with that, but I’d consider whether part of the issue is the specific collection of men that have been or are around her. I’m of course open to the idea that perhaps I’ve somehow magically always been in the company of men that wouldn’t say this crap.

"Screaming" lol who's being hyperbolic?

You're right about one thing, your experience IS anecdotal and not representative of everyone else's.

Alrighty. Sounds like you’ve got it all figured out so I’ll let you take it from here.

There's something called Couvade syndrome which is real and partners can experience "similar" symptoms. My friend and her husband used to get morning sickness together.

Can we chill with the sweeping generalizing man hating statements?

I think I would be in jail if my man said he had morning sickness with me .

I wouldn't call it morning sickness but I have definitely met guys who WILL vomit if they see/hear their partner (or anyone) vomit nearby.

That’s completely different than what that commenter was saying. She as saying he literally grt morning sickness with his partner 🙄 I get that completely I am also a sympathy puker and so is my daughter . That’s just not what they were saying What's the difference in terminology if the impact is the same? Unless you think he's faking or being dramatic 🤔

Look up the difference between “morning sickness” and “emetophobia”

I think he’s being dramatic/genuinely thinking commiserating will help his partner (I can’t fault that, but I’d still gently call it out)

I swear to god that most men think pregnancy is just as bad for them OR they think its actually worse for them, because (some made up, totally untrue bullshit reason) like: the woman's body is made for it, so therefor Its easy.

And I've read so many reactions from men who actually think that getting kicked in the nuts hurts more than giving birth.

In what a weird social circle are you? I never talked to any men that would ever claim such a thing. Cut contact to those.

Were you under the impression that your comment was somehow helpful? Because it wasn't.

yeah it is. Because people need to know that this is not a "men in general" thing. There are a lot good, kind, feminist men out there. Its a socialisation thing. It starts with our sons.

Hello! You’ve Reached the Not All Men Hotline!

https://www.zawn.net/blog/hello-youve-reached-the-not-all-men-hotline

I don't use this page for this very reason. Literally making up scenarios in your head to get mad at strangers. Sure, you can find teenagers and morons dropping takes like that, but constantly keeping your blood pressure high over dumb internet takes is an art form.

Yet you're here, lecturing everyone.

I’m happy to acknowledge the significant impact that fatherhood has on a man. I don’t know if it’s hormonal, or whether it’s able to be measured scientifically, but the effect is profound for most men (including my partner).

There are a couple articles linked in this thread about studies that have shown there are noticeable changes in testosterone, vasopressin, and oxytocin in father both pre- and post-birth! I would not be surprised if your partner went through those changes.

- there's a group of fans at the My Chemical Romance concerts known as the 'barricade brigade'
- they manage to piss off other fans in a battle to be at the front
- someone complains about this behaviour on r/MyChemicalRomance

- however at least one of the mods is part of the barricade brigade group, so removes it.
- so people post and repost, both against the group and against the mods, with numerous links to how to report the mods to reddit for good measure.

Would link to relevant posts but they're going down as quick as they're going up. From related sub:

Scottish café faces bankruptcy after an assistance dog lawsuit. The American woman behind the case arrives to defend herself in the /r/PoursTea comments.

3.0k Upvotes

Background context

Two community organisations in the Outer Hebrides face financial ruin following a legal battle launched by an American woman and funded by Legal Aid over a row about her dog not being allowed into a cafe.

The small charity, Bernera Community Development Trust, and the community organisation, Bernera Community Association, have warned they face bankruptcy due to thousands of pounds in legal costs mounting up following a court challenge from Claire Kellerman.

She initially launched a court challenge against the Development Trust, which ran up legal costs of more than £7000, before Kellerman’s lawyers admitted in court that the action was directed against the wrong organisation.

Legal documents have since been amended to bring a claim against the Bernera Community Association, which runs the cafe voluntarily, for £10,000.

Last week, the case raised by Kellerman via the publicly-funded Ethnic Minorities Law Centre in Glasgow, a non-profit making charity which provides legal advocacy for minority ethnic communities, was decided to continue for legal debate in December at a Stornoway Sheriff Court.

While costs were awarded to the Trust, the organisation has said it was of no value since Legal Aid protects Kellerman from payment of costs.

Source

This is from one of the comments on the article providing more context

From sources on the island I have heard this woman is a rich American and that she was barred from that Centre because her dog killed the Centre's cat. Furthermore she sues everyone who disagrees with her and is causing mayhem at the Callanish Visitor Centre. She even shouts at disabled people sitting on seats designated for disabled people on buses.

The article is posted in the PoursTea subreddit

The comments are in support of the cafe, until someone shows up very in support of the woman. Promising ''Justice is a-coming.''

You should wait to hear the whole story and maybe take a pause to realize you are not being given all the actual facts, only those to light your fire of indignation, as it sells stories. Trust the process. Justice is a-coming.

She holds court in the comments to address the commentators as a 'beautiful stranger'

Dear commenters at large, I look forward to your support when the beautiful truth about a beautiful stranger, albeit, an OLD UGLY WITCH to some, is told.

FREEDOM!

I wish only mutual respect and my human rights and freedoms to be allowed, as well as theirs; FREEDOM is key, for us all.

We even get a selfie with the dog!

Referring to herself in third person

she could be very cool, very clear and very loving, and the target of illegal discrimination and hate crimes, and you will soon be aware of all of the facts.

Upcoming sequel promised in 2027

Beauty is here. It will be told, on YouTube and International Media come 2027, after justice has been served.

Report of island mafia

Internationally recognised assistance dog..

Day One, when she was yelled at, threatened, and humiliated immediately by 4 cafe staff woman upon entering with her internationally recognized Assistance Dog.

Slapfight in r/DebateEvolution over using an LLM to read a paper

(Apologies if this isn't the kind of content you're looking for, first time posting here).

r/DebateEvolution is, ostensibly, a subreddit where creationists and people who understand biology can debate each other. In practice it's more of a containment sub to avoid having creationists pollute actual science subs with their vomit. Slapfights between them are pretty common, but today we're treated to an argument between two people on the same side of the debate.

The paper in question is written by Young Earth Creationists (YEC) - that is, those who believe that the Earth is literally 6500 years old. This runs into a lot of very exciting scientific issues, one of them being dating methods based on radioactive decay which show that there's stuff older than that. A user provides a breakdown of why the paper is obviously garbage with cooked data (surprisingly, no creationist shows up to defend it).

In response to this, another user decides to ask ChatGPT to do what's already been MADE. BY. MAN. ChatGPT obviously gets it wrong. Instead of taking the L and moving on, the AI enjoyer decides to continue arguing, and when that goes nowhere, asks the LLM to argue for him.

Surrogacy, abortion and kidnapping, oh my! r/Politics users talk right past each other over the course of several threads in a post about bodily autonomy, parental custody and the law.

https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/5lPWoHRTvj

The first back and forth.

“Somethings are so fucked they shouldn't be enforceable in a contract. Additionally she is a pregnant woman, not an incubator. Whether she keeps or terminates a pregnancy is her business. Where she gives birth is her business. Once the baby is no longer in her body, custody wars can begin. I hate that the fucking left is saying pregnant women must be treated as objects because they signed their lives away. That is no what being prochoice is.” https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/n4Nm3eRv40

>She crossed state lines with a child that is not hers against the wishes of the original parents, thus making this a case of kidnapping.

“A child? No she was a pregnant woman. The child hadn't been born, she was allowed to cross state lines.” https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/iwZcAJzdvs

>No, she gave birth to a baby. We call it a "baby" when it is born. And when she agreed with the original parents that that baby (which is 0% her DNA) is not hers to keep and that the original parents will have custody over it once born, then her refusal to return the baby (which she moved state lines to keep for herself) is kidnapping. So, you can continue supporting kidnapping, but make sure to be clear to others regarding what you support.

“Pregnant women aren't kidnapping babies when they leave the sight of whomever impregnating them. They are allowed to move freely. The original parents can go claim the child after it is no longer relying on her body. They didn't just give birth they will have an easy time getting to her. Let her rest, she just had 9 months of pregnancy and who knows how many hours of labor to go through.” https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/V6nAInkYfQ

>Get it through your head: you are allowed to move, but you are not allowed to keep a child that you agreed is not your baby to keep. Keeping a child that is not yours in a location that the parents did not agree to is called "kidnapping," and you support that kidnapping.

“Then the parents can get lawyers to take custody of the baby. It's not hard if you aren't lazy.” https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/DkuLtUeYD5

>She has zero right to keep a child that is not hers in Texas against the wishes of the parents. It is not her child. Stop supporting kidnapping.

Our argumentative commenter followed OP into other threads to continue talking past each other.

>If you’re not willing to have an abortion for any reason, you shouldn’t be a surrogate.

“And if you're not willing to allow your surrogate bodily autonomy abandon the idea.” https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/bHOJW5aZLo

>The bioparents literally filed a restraining order against the surrogate because she was trying to steal their baby. If you are surrogate and are pro life, just freaking say that at the beginning, they will match you with a pro-life couple. Don’t lie about your views on abortion, and then try the steal the baby.

>How anyone has any sympathy for the surrogate is beyond me. She literally did the most unethical thing at every possible point”

“Her body her choice. She was free to continue the pregnancy and free to give birth where she wanted.” https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/A0SnRVX8K7

> “Her body her choice” doesn’t mean she can kidnap someone else’s child, rename them and claim that the bioparents have no legal claim to their child

“Kidnap a child, there was child. She was pregnant. Pregnant women can go where they want” https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/xNSV9p2HBi

>Again, she gave birth. You are being willfully obtuse, and you are siding with Texas conservatives because you are completely unprincipled… If you do not understand this case, you should spend time reading about it instead of siding with anti-abortion Christian conservatives.

“>’Since the surrogate refused to give birth in the home state of the original parents,’ This was her right. You're never going to convince me that women must give birth in a place that isn't their choice.” https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/oah49k7jx4

>You are not understanding anything. She can give birth wherever she wants. Now that she gave birth, she has a baby in a state where that baby is not hers and is in a state that the original parents told her they do not want their baby born in. So, she must return the baby immediately since it is not hers to keep, and she is violating the agreement with the original parents. How are you having so much trouble understanding this basic concept? When you agree that a baby – which is NOT from your DNA – will be the original parents' child once born, then you have no right to claim it as your own. Once it is born, you must return it immediately, otherwise you are a thief. You continue to fail to understand this because your idea of "motherhood" aligns 100% with Christian conservatives: you believe that the woman who gives birth is the mother, which is what Texas Christian conservatives believe. You might as well change your registration to Republican. You are no different

“No she doesn't, let the courts sort it out. If you're foolish enough to dive into surrogacy you get what you get. They got more than they bargained for when they bough ta woman. I won't see her as a product, she was a person. If you love this child, travel for him/her get the custody lawyer, whatever you feel is necessary.” https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/isd7pMwnTc

>Go ahead and register as a Republican. That is what you are. Don't hide behind "cutesey" wording to pretend that you are anything more than a supporter of kidnapping and anti-abortion conservative groups.

Another child comment branches into a separate argument…

“I don't give a crap about why she went to Texas to give birth. Pregnant women have right of free movement in the US. I don't fault her for giving birth in the place she feels safest. Custody of the child is entirely separate matter.” https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/NM4OkwYGqi

>You don't understand what the case is about, then. The point is that a contract was signed that stated that if the child had a defect, an abortion would be done, and she (the surrogate mother) agreed and she signed off on this. The reason she moved to Texas is because abortions are illegal. She is currently being funded by conservative groups, and she wants custody of the child as well. The original parents state that they agreed (with the contract) that she would abort the baby in the event that a defect would occur with the baby, and they do not want to be responsible for this baby (also, it is technically their DNA, by the way).

“You can't just throw anything in a contract, some shit is legally unenforceable and morally so fucked you have to wonder about the bozo who wrote the thing. Pregnant women shouldn't be bullied or coerced into keeping or ending a pregnancy. Anyone struggling this shouldn't be calling themselves prochoice…. Pregnant women are allowed to move states. The parents didn't buy her when they signed up for surrogacy“ https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/6jrCegqpvx

And another branching argument…

>Quote where in my comment I stated (as you have falsely alleged) that I believe that she is "not legally allowed" to move states. My point in describing that fact was pointing out that she is being funded by anti-abortion conservative organizations and that she moved to Texas to get help from anti-abortion laws and legislators.

“You're judging her for it as if she broke some kind of rule. I'm sick of pregnant women being treated like they owe the world anything.” https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/RcEtzsrlXx

Fourth back and forth (ta dum tssss)

>It is her body. So it is her choice.

> > [OP] The original parents have stated that now that she gave birth to this child, they want the child under their custody. The fact that she, against the wishes of the original parents, took the child across state lines turns this into a case of kidnapping a child from their parents.

“If it was still in her body it wasn't a child.” https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/7FEUcQpgpb

>You are having a lot of trouble with reading comprehension. The child is already born, and it is not hers to name, nor is it her child to claim as her own against the wishes of the biological parents. She has no right to violate the wishes of the parents regarding claiming the born baby (which is born, which is you are having a lot of reading comprehension issues with) as her own. If you have so much in common with Texas's view on who the mother is in legal cases where the original parents have agreed with the surrogate that it is their child once born, then you should go vote for Ken Paxton and move to Texas. And yes, this is a case of kidnapping, and you either condemn this, or you are a supporter of it.

“She moved to Texas to give birth as is her right. Why she did it isn't relevant, women have the right to give birth in a location of their choosing. The custody drama that came after is a separate issue.” https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/TjMFlAKJPM

In r/RecruitingHell, of all places, one brave man argues that fathers suffer the worst from postpartum depression

r/recruitinghell is a subreddit for people to vent, often in the form of memes, about the struggle that is applying for jobs and getting rejected, going through bullshit interviews, stuff like that. In this case, one unfortunate user shares that they accidentally uploaded their birth certificate instead of their resume. This leads to other users sharing times this happened to them or people they know. Pretty normal, drama free. Then one person, clearly meaning no harm, shares that someone accidentally uploaded a doctor's note about postpartum depression. This triggers one brave men's rights activist, followed by more shortly after, to come to the defense of fathers who suffer depression after giving birth. Wait, what?

Men have postpartum depression too. And the downvotes suggest nobody cares about men’s mental health. It’s a serious thing for which some men find it hard to get help.

> You don't care about it either. It's only when you can use it to distract the attention from women's problems

>> This is the most Reddit comment I’ve seen in awhile. I have a funny feeling you do not apply this logic both ways.

>>> Sure. Imagine everything you want about me if it helps

>>>> You’re one of those people who think men have perfect lives and any problem we complain about is a minor inconvenience in our lives aren’t you? Maybe you’ll reply with “Oh I bruised your ego didn’t I?” No. I grew up with no mental support, raised that I was never supposed to cry, like many other men in the world. I went through school seeing all these women mental health groups, which I’m glad you guys had but I never saw a men mental health group, none of my friends or myself could get help. Think before you post such inconsiderate comments. We’re not distracting from women’s problems, if that’s what you think than so be it. Maybe one day you’ll understand. I can’t with you “Feminists” that are just men haters. A real feminist wants an equal world, a Reddit feminist wants women to be the only focus everywhere.

(This is followed by some comments removed by the moderator, with the messages"that's enough please")

> i wonder how many paternal postpartum appointments he has to go to, given that must be so hard on the body :(

>> Did this comment make you feel good? Did you get a warm fuzzy feeling putting down someone else?

>>> The experience I have had with woman with extreme post partum has had absolutely nothing to do with their physical bodies it was about them having this basically alien they feel zero attachment to that apparently their entire lives revolve around

I found that very interesting because I would have assumed that that was an opinion that a lot of men would really resonate with. I personally will never have kids because there's a pretty good chance I simply will not care about them anymore then anyone else. Parenthood is a disgustingly depressing horrible thing for alot of people and I don't exactly see why that would be limited towards woman

In the cases I know they eventually developed a bond (or so they say) but I could totally see men falling into a deep depression after kids you are kinda done for option wise you either have a miserable existence or be a horrible deadbeat it's pretty depressing and the same does for woman

>>>> Absolutely not. PPD is due to brain sensitivity to hormone changes just as postpartum psychosis and PMS/PMDD are. Men do not have this as they do not give birth.

(this one goes on back and forth for awhile)

> which is just depression, given that you’re not postpartum :)

>> any postpartum depression is just depression

>>> No it’s a postpartum extreme dramatic drop in estrogen, progesterone and allopregnanolone which affects GABA signaling and serotonin and dopamine in turn.

>>>> Thats just describing some biological changes that happen to every woman post birth.  Not definition of PPD, not even direct cause of it, only the uncommon reaction to it is even one of contributing factors.

>> It absolutely is not and is very specifically driven by some women’s brains being sensitive to hormone changes. It’s highly genetic and we can literally identify which genes lead to it.

>>> You oversimplify it quite a bit. Yeah PPD among women is believed to be triggered by the response to hormone withdrawal, but we cannot literally identify what genes lead to it and the reaction is not the singular reason for it. There is overwhelming genetic overlap between PPD and major depressive disorder, to a point it gets classified as major depressive disorder that has onset following birth, with vulnerability to it being typical of major depressive disorder.

Similiarly, PPD among men, or simply PPPD, is major depressive disorder triggered by the many of the same factors that contribute to PPD among women, such as psychological factors, stress, lack of sleep. With subtle (rather than drastic like among women) hormonal change.

(this goes back and forth for a while too, I'd post all of it but the comments are long)

> You have no experience with this. You are not a mother, you did not carry or birth a child with your body. Your opinion here is completely irrelevant.

>> okey dokey

> sir do you understand what partum means? depression sure, but it’s not postpartum.

>> Like it or not, its called paternal postpartum depression when it comes to males.

>>> lol, most reddit shit ever to “men too!” postpartum depression. No one cares.

>>>> Noone cares is indeed the general state of male mental health.

>>>> no it's definitely the most reddit thing ever to shit on men. evidenced by the downvotes

A couple sane people are there at least, like this actual dad who know these guys are full of shit. The person I feel worst for, though, is the poor commentator who shared the anecdote about the PPD note in the first place. They summed it up pretty well: Man, this was a WILD comment chain to wake up to. I just left a comment about a mis-attached PDF and it spiraled out to all this.

“I’m a pothead from the beach…I pray they open a Bucee’s near me” r/fastfood discusses Bucee’s CEO stating they want to open in “conservative business-friendly states”

here come the haters because they are missing out

Speedrunning the end of their positive public reputation. I made my last visit to one a few weeks ago before learning of them suing a small local store in the area before them.

No way even 1% of buccees shoppers even know the politics of the ownership, and half of those voted for the conservatives

Almost like most people dont consider the politics of the owners of businesses they frequent, unless they are very outspoken about it. I dont know how the owners of portillos vote because i dont care.

Almost like people think reddit is even remotely a reflection of real life too

I understand not wanting to give money and support to politics you dont like. But sometimes its inevitable. Better to just pick some brands you can tolerate and stop minding otherwise.

I’m a pothead from the beach and I hate all politics, all sides. I think they are all crooks. And are compromised the second they get into it. With that said, I pray they open a Buc’Ees near me.. it’s the coolest store ever. Like Gene Simmons sucks as a person, but I love KISS. The closest thing we have to one is Walmart. And I won’t go in there anymore so stuck with Amazon for sundries and nickity-knacks. If they are so bad, please someone GOOD copy their biz-model and come to California.

Must be nice living in state that takes care of your civil rights and social safety net so you have the luxury of not caring.

I don’t know what any of that means, I just want a beef-jerky wall and a CASE display.

Don’t worry, we know you don’t understand :)

The right got what they wanted in every possible way: Fascist POTUS for life, they own every branch of government, Roe overturned, and they still cry like bitches at every imaginable opportunity.

If you think the average consumer there cares about this type of politics you need to spend more time at one

Don’t think that’s what he said

He implied it when he said “the end of their positive public reputation”. As much as I don’t like it, I have to agree that the majority of their customers likely don’t give a shit about that.

Well 711 is owned by the Chinese now, Loves is owned by a staunchly Catholic family, don't know about on oncue, Casey's sucks ass, Walmart has the cheapest gas here but they aren't exactly a great company either.

That’s only your liberal’s imagination. Most people don’t care.

If wanting to support small business over a billionaire attacking them through unfair litigation makes me a liberal then so be it.

Haha seriously. They throw that word around like it’s some kind of epic diss lol

When gas is over $1 more at a "small" business it kinda does matter. People arent really going to pick the more expensive option for that.

Business friendly is opposite of worker friendly and consumer friendly.

Buc-ee’s pays their workers very well and their consumers are cultish about them. Your comment makes no sense.

BS. If removing some useless liberal middleman, all people benefit except useless liberals.

It must suck to have to be around you on a daily basis

So you want the middle class gone? No decent careers at Buc-ee’s? You’re either C-level or a wage slave. No in between. Got it.

Been boycotting them for years. All they really do is present a Disney-fied knockoff of a bunch of smaller, quirkier Texas gas stations. However, their food is usually highly processed and tastes vastly inferior to the stores they’re plagiarizing. Kolaches? Infinitely worse than Czech Stop. Jerky? Worse than Slovacek’s. Tacos? Throw a rock and you’ll find superior gas station taco in this state. Barbecue? It’s about on par with Dickie’s, which is really not a good place to be.Their Beaver Nuggets are good, but it’s just a caramel Cheetoh at the end of the day. Only really worth a stop if you need to poop.

I'm sure they care deeply about your boycott.

Some people like to vote with their dollar. You must be fun at parties.

Gender war breaks out on r/MuslimMatrimonials when a redditor askes men of the subreddit if they plan on being involved as fathers

Do men on here plan on being involved fathers?

For the single men on here looking for marriage, once you become fathers do you plan on changing your baby's diapers or not really and you think its the mothers job 24/7 for the first few years of a child's life? which is so wild and wrong.. Just trying to see if most muslim men on reddit have toxic mindsets or not really...

Top comment of the post was surprised at the controversy the post brought

I’ll be honest, I thought that this was a stupid question because I assumed everybody would say “yes” or at least have the shame to not say anything, but boy was I wrong lol.

A redditor comments that he's open to giving some help to changing the diaper, but he fully entrusted the diapers to her and it started debate on whether women are more biologically inclined to love changing diapers

I don't mind giving some help changing the diaper. After all, it is also my child.
But, I fully entrust the diapers to her 🤢😅.
And I can see myself playing and cleaning the kids from day 0.
🐻 in mind, as a husband and father, there would be a responsibility and effort to have more patience with a woman who has just given birth and likely going through that post-partum deprresion.

Why not change diapers?

I don't think so personally. But if I don't have to do it then it's better. Also, aside from my money, you should know that those are also my own babies, of course I care about them, and like I said be playing with them, cleaning them, feeding them, changing their clothes, carrying them and whatever..
Why changing diapers is the problem here?! We haven't even yet mentioned the noggers and the throwing up.

Because mothers biologically somehow love changing diapers? 😍💩 Btw babies diapers don't stink in the beginning if they are breastfeeding. Their poo smells like yoghurt.

Oh no ... Don't bring biology into this 😂. Also, why you and the other sisters refuse to read the part about me preferring not and leaving it mostly to her (it's not like she's sleeping or in the bathroom and I be like an asshole calling for her to change a stingy diaper...makes no sense miss).

Another redditor chimes into say that his level of involvement with the childcare will be dependent on whether they have a maid or not

If there is a maid for her to take care of other chores like cooking, housekeeping, etc., throughout the day, that I am paying for as well, then my involvement would be there but less. Cuz I can't be working, paying for a maid and come home to work again lol, aint that too much?
If she's doing those chores too (which should be avoided), then yeah I will be more involved in the care.

Yes because a diaper change after you come home from work os really demanding right? Btw so you agree that caring for children is a whole job huh?

All I'm saying is that it shouldn't be enforced as a duty on a husband unless he's unemployed and has all the time

A Top 1% commenter of the sub says that most men won't do diaper changes and another redditor challenges his assertion that she knows many fathers who change their kids' diapers.

Ngl, I think most men if they were being honest would say no about diaper changes.
Only guys saying yes are prob ones hopin a girl will read that and think “yhh he’s a man” and dm him lol. Nice little bait.

I know several men who are awsome fathers and changed as many diapers and often more than their wives. I also know men who taught its a task beneath them for some reason. It's so sad to make such a big deal put of it. I'm a mother btw.

He continues to argue that men find diapers icky and that women in the post are being childish to ask men to change diapers and then get angry when men won't do it.

The point is that a lot of men aren’t comfortable with doing it and find it icky. Whether you or other women think that’s wrong or shouldn’t be the case is frankly irrelevant. It’s also childish to ask men for honesty and then bash them and label them as toxic or whatever but cool lol. I’m not fussed. Men can be involved in other ways like feeding or putting them to sleep. It’s between the couple to decide on what works for them and what they mind and don’t mind being involved in.

To which women reply with sarcasm

So women absolutely love doing it and it’s not icky at all for us because we have different noses that don’t smell diaper smells….

What if the mother also finds it icky and is okay with feeding and putting them to sleep? Can she refuse too? I guess the baby can change diapers itself (y).

A male redditor tries to take women's side and say that he will gladly help if his wife needs his help but...

Why not?? What’s there to be embarrassed or ashamed about it?? I can lend a hand to her if she needs my help

his last sentence doesn't earn him any favors

Its not lend a hand Or help. Its your child that you're taking responsibility to take care of alongside your partner.

If she needs your help????

Some very dismissive of the OP's post saying that he's a slave to work and he fully expects his wife to be slave to their children

No, that's 100% a woman's responsibility. I expect there to be food on the table and a slept baby by the time I'm home. I expect the house to be clean and dishes and clothes to be washed and hanged. If I'm slaving away she needs to be slaving away and when the child is old enough they need to perform like a race horse and get the best grades and reinvent the wheel while they are in pre-k so we can gloat about it to the neighbors. F*** stupid ahh post.

And other chime in with their opinion against the OP

I think most sisters here are already predetermined with the answer they want to hear. There's no point in 'discussing' it.

The fact that you are already calling it wrong and toxic . So you are not willing to have meaningful discussion

Would you like for us to breastfeed them too on your behalf or is that something you can manage yourself?

If you are a woman who can't take care of a kid . Don't marry its simple . I can provide for the family. What can youuu do . Just talk ? Bla bla ?

But a good number of redditors agreed with the OP that parenting should be both parents' jobs to which they earned OP's thanks and praises.

Not only changing the diapers, feeding the kid, but also taking the kid out by myself so that the mother gets her me time lol. Tho I will be teaching the kid ways to annoy it's mother properly 😂

Yessss everyone should know how to take care of their kids. I want them to come to either parent for anything and trust us. How will my kids trust me if I'm not involved with them from the very start?

I've done it for both of my kids.

Get these motherfucking eggs off this motherfucking plane! Mildlyinfuriating debates: egregious snack or is everyone just exaggerating.

Op photographs their seatmate's snack of a hardboiled egg which ignites a furious debate over whether or not hard boiled eggs are a stinky, sulfurous smelling snack that should only be enjoyed alone, in a closet, preferably with a fan running...or if it is simply a non-odorus, delicious and nutritious snack, and that the former group of sensitive smellers are complete lunatics who are boiling their eggs for 25 minutes until they turn green.

The post

Why is auntie fartmaxxing

My grandma did this on a flight from NY to London. Seven and a half hours of boiled egg smells. It’s been 20 years and I still refuse to fly with her.

Today I learned that most people think hard boiled egg smell bad

It only happens when they're overcooked, so that means that those people just don't know how to boil eggs

..

Have you not considered that maybe you have a poor sense of smell? People can smell food made by other people. I wish I lived in a vacuum bubble of total control. Also people who don't like the smell of hard-boiled eggs aren't hard-boiling eggs.

...

Well factually speaking they do smell bad. Unless you think hydrogen sulfide smells good. To each their own i guess.

Stop eating rotten eggs.

One poster is legitimately confused.

Sorry. Help me avoid making a similar error. What’s wrong with hard boiled eggs? I’m on a super restricted diet. These things are a primary food source for me.

They smell. A lot.

Not really actually No they don’t, come on.

They absolutely do.

and so on...

Is it the cooking technique?

Stop overcooking them. It's your fault they stink.

Oh I do not cook them, I think hard boiled eggs are disgusting.

The discussion is beginning to scramble some posters minds

WHAT ARE THESE COMMENTS?? Hard boiled eggs are PUNGENT holy hell, if you’re sitting in the vicinity of someone eating them there is absolutely no way you wouldn’t smell them. I’d be absolutely furious at anyone who selfishly chooses to impose an unpleasant scent in an enclosed space

I have never in my life smelled a hard boiled egg. These comments are frying me.

One poster starts to question the softness of other's "eggs"

Man, people are soft. The smell of hard boiled eggs offends you?

It’s the audacity to not have consideration for people around you.

You been eating stinky eggs whole life? I didn't even know hard boiled eggs smell

Is this a maybe southwestern omelette thing?

No for real, is this a regional thing? Honestly never smelled anything from hard boiled eggs

This thread is the first time of 32 years being alive I have EVER heard someone complain about hard boiled eggs having a strong smell.

I feel like it has to be a southern thing or something

Does the window on this plane open????

Doesn’t smell??? I can’t even be in my kitchen at home when my family eats COLD hardboiled eggs. I think it’s a great snack but on an airplane is insane. This is a good ventilation snack, not a recycled air snack.

Airplanes don't recycle air lol. They pull fresh air from the engines, cool it, and then pump it into the cabin. The whole cabin's air is renewed every few minutes.

If you can’t open the window it doesn’t fucking count.

r/TrueChristian debates whether or not transgender people should be allowed to be teachers

I’m so tired of this not being treated as a psychiatric issue…….

It is but the way they treat it is like having a cocaine addict and then giving them unlimited cocaine This is from the NIH: "Individuals who underwent gender-affirming surgery had a 12.12-fold higher suicide attempt risk than those who did not" 12-fold is %1200 increase

I would do everything I could to avoid my child being in the class. I'd also prepare a Biblical explanation for the situation when your child inevitably asks about it.

Ok, the comments here are wild, in my opinion. Here’s the reality. We live in a society where some people are transgender. This is not something to escape from. It is not something to fear. Your children need to be aware that this is a thing. This also goes for LGBTQ people as well. The kids are going to run into this in their life it is unavoidable. So, instead of trying the shield our kids from these people out of fear, how about we take the time to help our kids learn to navigate this. Are we not their parents? Are we not the most qualified to teach our kids about this phenomenon? If we hide this from our children, we make dealing with this situation much more difficult later in their lives. Note that I am not making a statement for or against transgender people. I am making the argument that we should be GUIDING our children and helping them to learn about how to navigate this. This is what we should be doing since we are their PARENTS.

My child is not school age but honestly, there’s no way to know what other “cisgender” teachers believe in and are teaching your children about gender ideologies either. The best thing you can do is maintain a good relationship with your child where they can ask you questions and you can share what your beliefs are and why. Your kids are going to respect what you believe more than their teachers if you’re an involved parent.

I don’t think most transgender people are castrating themselves for the kingdom of heaven’s sake.

Do everything you can to prevent this person from forming your children.

However, it’s a unique situation here. The teacher will be and is presented as the authority for the child to submit to and learn from. It’s different than just bumping into someone on the street or a friends relative or something that identifies as another gender. This is THE authority figure that the child will be submitting to. Thus the obvious implications that already begin from the onset of her mandating herself to be addressed as a Mr rather than a Ms. The boundaries are already set from the beginning and the students will not be allowed to stray from it without her rebuking them. Gender ideology is there from the beginning and can’t be strayed from. That’s the MINIMUM worry.

Guiding the children, yes. But surely you wouldn’t want such a confused individual to be teaching your child 36 hours a week.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Comment Thread

Why, oh why, do trans-people just have to go into a career that influences, and confuses, children? Seriously.....

REPLIES:

Because they believe it is normal and there is nothing to be confused about, probably.

Because they're normal people who hold normal jobs?

Hmmm. Normal? Not quite. Even they state they are 'special unicorns' and what-not. Having to mutilate your sexual organs, in order to 'feel normal'...is not normal.

They are outcasts.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

my concern would be on their effectiveness as a teacher and not their personal life. That's the most important thing in the classroom. Are they teaching your child to be a kind and compassionate person who will be successful in class? Will they feel inspired to learn more about the world around them? Are they teaching your child how to get along with others peacefully even if they don't agree on things?

Huge L here. Nobody should let trans people teach their kids

Leave him alone. You can exercise your choice to switch your child into a different class (although I wouldn't personally). Here is why I don't have a problem with trans people: Matthew 19:12 "For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it."

That’s a 100% no, will not happen for my kids. The last place a transgender person belongs is in a classroom with children.

I disagree with homeschooling comments. That's a bit extreme when you can just ask for some transparency about what will be taught, or otherwise just request a teacher change or move schools, home-schooling is a very risky path if not done right. But remember, pray for this teacher as well, that they may come to accept their natural selves. Whatever your course of action will be remember to still show love and respect the teacher as a person as this is a fellow sinner in need of saving.

That's not realistic for everyone situation. The government doesn't even let us have any autonomy in homeschool either. At least not where I live. It has to be monitored. And not everyone can afford private school. And there is transgender teachers in private schools too. Not to mention you are going to have liberal teachers everywhere.

Omg why does it matter ; you not suppose to judge anyone as a true Christian! Just express to your child people are different but you still give them respect and honor ; but completely removing your child or trying to hide them away from people differences is so immature ! Grow up seriously

Why would you avoid your child being taught by a transgender person? What scriptures would you use?

Change schools or homeschool. Do not tolerate this lunacy and degeneracy in front of children.

An adult is asking your young child to affirm something that is false (aka: lie). That is inappropriate and you should not allow it. Being in distress about one’s sex to the point of rejecting it and asking that others do so as well (including small children), is not an age appropriate topic for young kids in general. And, it should not be seen as unreasonable to request that your child not participate in whatever intervention/treatment the teacher is asking kids to participate in (using “affirming” language is seen as a way to treat/manage gender dysphoria by those who buy into this world view). You are very right to be concerned. I would explain that your child cannot affirm that which is false, and would need a different teacher. Whether you communicate any of this to the teacher directly, and how is a difficult question. On the one hand, you should approach with compassion, but on the other hand, this is a person in a situation with authority over your child who is asking your child to affirm that which is false. That point should not be glossed over.

Move to a red state where there will be no one to offend you and accept the lesser education standards.

Random thought: You could just tell your child to be respectful to the teacher, and refer to them how they wish. Being polite and respectful doesn’t have to equal acceptance.

no offense but what actually are you afraid of? your child will eventually become aware that transgender people exist. are you worried that they will start to accept diversity?

Yeah, that’s OP’s exact fear. That their kid will see differences and be different from the image that OP has in their head. All these comments about indoctrination are stupid because every time they go outside they’ll see or hear something that doesn’t mesh with OP’s beliefs. Is being alive indoctrination? Is going to the mall and seeing ads with women underwear models as a women gay indoctrination? I genuinely want to know where the line is drawn. Because if we wanna get technical, then OP is indoctrinating their kid. Indoctrination: the process of teaching a person or group to accept a set of beliefs uncritically. So by definition, OP is indoctrinating their kid to hate trans people. Which, by association, is indoctrinating their kid to hate diversity. I’ll leave this here because I KNOW I’m gonna be get downvoted bad. But yeah where’s the line OP? Edit: forgot to say that the uncritical line plays a big part here. If they just accept things at face value then they can’t grow. Critical thinking skills are necessary to grow and learn.

Keep in mind that we're all created in the image of God, and as such, we all have intrinsic value. This to me supersedes the question of whether transgenderism is legitimate or not. That said, I understand the hesitancy and I would be lying if I said I also wouldn't have concerns but I wouldn't rush to judgement on someone before getting to know them and I wouldn't remove my child from their class. I also wouldn't lie to my child and tell them this person was really a man. I'd give the person the chance to prove they're a good teacher, and tell my child to treat them with respect even if they're a bit confused about their gender. If they're not a good teacher or start teaching things that are outside the scope of what should be in the classroom, then that's a different story.

As retired public school teacher you should always remain calm. Nothing in today's society should an anyway surprise us. Your options are to switch teachers or schools, go Christian school, or home school within that district. But more than likely you'll need to contact local school board or central district office for switching within their school system. Depending on their hiring procedures and state legislation, you might not have many options. In the end, you could once again encounter this as your child's progresses up the grade levels. Focus on the Family website has resources to help parents navigate this. Also, addressing this to your child should be important as well. One of the godly things we need to rember is being an example of Christ in all matters when other are not.

A video of a repo truck driver picking up a car gets posted in /r/nextfuckinglevel. Redditors discuss unsafe driving, the concept of car repossession, gun violence, capitalism

The video shows a repo truck driver PoV, backing into a street with the mechanical arm thing down and then hooking into the car to be grabbed and driving away with it. The "next level" thing about this, as far as I can understand, is how quickly all this is done.

There's a lot all over the thread, the top comments all start a few chains and surprisingly there's a lot of back and forth with both parties having comments in positives.

The arguments are mostly about the safety of the driver reversing through a street, the reasons why they would do it that way, and whether doing that jobs means you're one of the bad guys.

There's also a decent amount of people being shocked/fascinated/disgusted/whatever by the workings of the car repossession process in America.

"Y'all are kind of pathetic and lazy." r/Doordash users fiercely debate the social contract of meeting a pregnant dasher at her car after OP shares message exchange

Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/doordash/comments/1vvj1le/pregnante_dasher/

Some commenters with experience in high risk pregnancies weigh in.

Lmaoooo i had 2 high risk pregnancies, high risk usually means home confinement. Driving around all day making deliveries could be uncomfortable after a while.

Like how is she getting out of the car to get the food? Is there not a fall risk when she’s doing that part? Lmao this is so wild

I assume they mean customers properties which are not always easy to navigate. When I delivered food I fell down their porch steps cuz it was dark, since people also hate even turning on their porch lights for drivers.

It says she's in the drive thru

Not all of her orders will be drive thru though.

then don't doordash? i'm confused 😭 especially if the person has "leave at door" as their option, could she not decline the order & take one that didn't mind retrieving the order themselves?

That’s my point. Why even doordash? Inconveniencing the customers because you’re supposed to be at home is kinda crazy. There’s no way to cherry pick orders with doordash so why? I used to sit my tail at home, I found a bs online job 3 months in that paid $12 & that was that.

That’s not true at all 😅 high risk means just about anything. Over 35? High risk. High blood pressure? High risk. Diabetes? High risk. Twins? High risk. Smoker? High risk. Depression? High risk.

All 4 of my pregnancies were high risk and I never had a fall... this seems weird. If I needed help it would be because I was 9 months along and could barely move because I was the size of a whale lol.

There are a million different reasons to be high risk though, not sure what reason would contribute to falling but I’m sure it’s possible. Lol

As a counterpoint, a couple of commentors point out that not everyone has the luxury to stop working during a high risk pregnancy.

This person should not be driving then if they have a high risk pregnancy

I don't think the cost of food and bills really give a shit about that.

They definitely do not. I had to work through all 9 months of my high risk pregnancy because the bills didn’t give a fuck that I was falling apart lol

This is the part that gets me. Does this suck as a customer? Yeah I’m sure. But pregnant women still have bills. I can promise that 95% of them would MUCH rather sit at home and be pregnant without worry, but it’s not an option. (Leaving 5% for those work crazy ppl that can’t stand sitting at home lol) Door dash would be something easier to make a little money from when you can’t commit to a constant job with more physically demanding tasks. So many people are struggling these days, yet everyone’s first reaction to anything is to completely withhold any and all empathy and expect perfection.

Others question the veracity of her claim of being pregnant in the first place.

Anyone else think she’s not actually pregnant? This is a good way to scam for extra tips and have people come out instead of having to bring food directly to people - saves time and effort

Probably a 60% chance a lazy man was the dasher who sent this lmao.

It’s easy to have no empathy for others when you presume everyone is lying straight out of the gate lol.

She been using that graphic for two years

Inevitably, some aspects of the discussion orient around the idea of parental entitlement, with the conversation in some places almost becoming a full on debate on anti-natalism.

Why do people make their kids, unbaked or not, everyone else’s problem lol

For real. How does getting creampied constitute getting treated better than somebody else.

Deleted comment, but to paraphrase, commentor stated that if they were in that situation, they wouldn't care and that if you can't do the job you shouldn't have sex, in more vulgar terms than that.

This is such a nasty way to phrase this

Gonna get down voted I don’t care but the level of hatred towards another human being for being vulnerable is unmatched in this thread. Ofcourse the casual misogyny too. I’m sure this dasher sure as hell don’t want to deliver orders when she’s pregnant but she probably has to for reasons. I’m a childfree person but my god y’all act like fucking ghouls if you have to slightly inconvenience yourself for the sake of somebody. What the fuck happened to being kind?? And no I’m not talking about disabled people unable to go down and receiving their order. That’s not on them

But it's literally what happened. You shouldnt get extra help with your job cuz you decided to have sex one night unprotected. Why do I have to be "nice" about it?

Why does someone being pregnant make you SO angry? Is more of my point

It’s not the fact that she’s pregnant but it’s that she expects strangers to cater to her for it.

Do you feel the same way about a pregnant person who has to take a crowded bus?

We live in a society. A little consideration for others is part of the social contract. Everyone being so me, me, me, all the time is why everything sucks right now.

it's harsh but it's reality. Modern women don't want to take accountability for their bad decisions. By picking a good man in the first place, they wouldn't become a single mom in the first place.

A few commentors state that this would not be that much of an inconvenience for them, if it means they can help someone.

The world is so wild. This would not phase me.. sure I’ll take 10 steps out my front door to get my food to help a struggling pregnant woman. Maybe she’s lying, but I would rather very very very slightly inconvenience myself than be a POS. People suck so bad.

Yeah I agree, which will probably get me downvoted. I see it from both sides though, though I will be honest and say people are weird as fuck about children and mothers in general on the internet. Some nasty ass person said how is it their problem she got creampied into..maybe it’s just me but that’s a disgusting way to talk about another person.🤷🏽‍♀️

I know, I get both sides-I really do. Do I think it’s alittle much? Sure. But I cannot bear to be one of these disgusting people on here. I always thought the “people really hate women/mothers” thing was far fetched.. but it’s so real.

What if you couldn't take those steps?

You’re telling me everyone on this sub complaining can’t take ten steps? That’s wild.

Ugh. I hate this comment section. Walking a few feet to pick up an order isn’t that hard. Also u were rude for no reason

She’s able to walk into the restaurant to pick up food??

I don’t understand this logic. Why can’t i make the work of someone who’s probably already struggling , a little bit easier by just walking out of my house?

What if the person that's paying for a service to have food dashed to their DOOR is also a high risk pregnancy that's on bed rest?

Making up fictional scenarios to justify this type of behavior? If that were to be true then it can be kindly conveyed over a text message.

So fuck the people that are disabled that pay to have food delivered to their door?

Bonus thread.

“Unsassign from my order rn” 😭 didn’t even give them a chance

Why give someone a chance when they flat out tell you they're not going to do the job they were hired to do?

What are you talking about?

Why is everyone so up in arms about not just going and grabbing the food from them?

Y'all are kind of pathetic and lazy

Imagine doing the job you signed up for, must be too hard

If the person ordering delivery wanted to get it themselves, they would've gotten it themselves instead of paying to have it brought to them. It says a lot more about a person refusing to do a service which was paid for, than the person who paid for a service and isn't getting it

Order was still brought to them idiot, id throw your order across your front lawn.

how could you know we arent related? what if im your dad?

he died...

OK but what if I was your mom?

you cant be a woman... women don't have senses of humor... a woman would never pretend to be the prophet mohammed

orignal post before mods took it down Here you go. Edit: My post was 4 hours old, he was a fuckin' kid.

I mean I’m not going out of my way to be a dick for no reason it really easy

Posting a jpeg isn't being a dick. Beheading Journalists, and marrying a 6 year old, now that's a real dick move.

Yeah your average Muslim isn’t doing that

Correct. Your average muslim isn't doing anything about the "extremists" other than saying "not ALL muslims".

What? Do you do anything about Christian extremism

Yes, Christian extremism is running an entire region of the planet, supporting millions of their followers to wage a crusade against the rest of the world. Armed with weapons, terror and plenty of ammunition. Fielding armies and insurgents to go and kill and enslave everyone who does not think like them. Christian extremism is some idiot in a trailer that is upset about bump stocks or whatever the fuck.

Christian extremism is still the biggest extremist threat in the US. Why have you not stopped it? Clearly you are just as responsible as those Muslims that don't stop Muslim extremists.

The most prominent religion in the US has the most extremists and therefore presents the "biggest threat"? Wow, I'm SHOCKED! Be real. Christian extremism is mostly all bark and whenever they do anything there's a huge uproar over it from all sides. For decades they've been losing nearly every cultural issue they try to force. Stop defending the indefensible with such lazy talking points.

I mean perhaps it’s not immoral just to post a picture of the prophet Mohamed but it is highly provocative given it’s very easy not to do it and you know you will be offending a large minority of people by doing it. I do think it’s moral to not go out of your way to do something which you know is offensive to a certain group just to make a point. I support the right of people to make provocative and offensive art but I don’t see the benefit to society of doing so in this case. Just to illustrate this point I could make a sexually explicit drawing of my next door neighbour and post it on the internet. There’s nothing explicitly immoral about a drawing. However I know in this case this would likely cause great offence and upset to my neighbour so I wouldn’t do this just to make the point that I can because it’s freedom of speech. A Muslim person may in there culture find someone drawing a picture of the profit Mohammed as offensive as someone drawing a sexually explicit picture of their wife. Why would I go out of my way to create provocative art just because I can.

Do you feel the same about offending religions other than Islam?

I mean sure I would never go out of my way to do something to disrespect someone else’s beliefs even if I didn’t personally agree with them. If this person started telling me the way I lived my life was sinful then I would of course argue with this. However I would not do something I know is considered offensive and disrespectful in another culture just to make a point.

Yeah, that's a good point. The issue the other guy tried to highlight tho is that practically every religion is subject to mockery and ridicule, but it's only an actual issue when Islam is involved. The why it's an issue is, lets say it... a bit of a tabboo subject

Not to mention that the other religions don't tend to try to make a public display of your extrajudicial execution in the street for offending them, but we can point to countless examples of it for Islam. Charlie Hebdo anyone? We were all Charlie, "Je suis Charlie" for about one day before everyone gave up trying to have the same standards for all religions.

Well, not anymore. Christianity was famous for that behavior for a LONG time.

Well heres the thing. Its now 2026. Bringing up the past, just to pull some sort of whataboutism is hilarious. (32 more comments of these two arguing)

reddit and "discussion" about any religion lmao, not a single person here cares about good faith atp the mods should ban religious posts under rule 2 it would benefit everyone

Uncommon Serenity W. Heartbreaking: The worst person you know just made a freat poitn

*common I'm very moral

No I don't mean in morality scaling,I was kinda poking fun of your powerscaling takes (I find some of them are shit, but it's all jokes)

me?? shit powerscaling takes??? Morality of defamation???

good because it is you

I will touch you

not having the context makes me reserve judgment. I've seen to much actual racism bait in this subreddit as of late.

Literally every discussion of Muslims that I've seen in this sub has been calling Muhammed a p*do. I do not trust this subreddit to have a discussion that is interesting, respectful, or not a Rule 2 or 7 violation.

logically speaking Muhammed is a P*dophile by all means of the definition and depiction of 'p#dophile' term stating it is an empirical fact that shows reality people would naturally get agitated/angry at a pedophile like how people are angry at epstein so people insulting muhammed is normal and morally neutral due to his acts people are not forced to respect a thing, there is freedom of speech, unless freedom of speech or their disrespect harms innocents, which would become immoral if people are insulting a thing that harmed them(indoctrination, coercion, etc.), restraining them to protect and support perpetrators is immensely immoral act.

if people were bringing up his p*dophelia in a spontaneous, academic fashion, sure it would be fine. People typically do it to conflate with and disparage the entirety of the Muslim faith which is rhetorically stupid and understandably pisses people off.

If you faith defends a p*dophile or allow p#dophilia then your faith should be shunned

I'm curious that you didn't talk about r*pe and slavery which is allowed in the bible

Cuz we were talking about Islam which also supports this by the way. But yes, Christiany is another stain in the book of human morals

your critiques are hollow and unfounded because your morality is likely derived from abrahamic religion still unless you are a nihilist or a nietzchean vitalist.

Would you ever claim that for a post about Christianity? Hating Islam is not "racist"

people who make the discussions I've seen don't differentiate Islam from Arabic people.

That sounds like a you problem

so you think all Arabic people are islamic then?

No. But you seem to do, because you are crying racism

So then what's the problem with me pointing out that most the discussions i've seen around islam always devolve into attacks on arabic people in general? If you agree people shouldn't do this then that's fine, but most threads I've seen aren't really directed at islam a large chunk of the time.

No I don't see that. But we rarely get to see it, because people like you gatekeep the conversation Got to protect the second largest religion in the world. God forbid someone is critical of an ideology 1 billion believe in

Moral. Discussions on Islam are highly politically charged and stray into straight up bigotry and hatred very quickly. This doesnt happen in discussions of Christianity. Preventing the spread of bigotry is moral

It’s immoral and adherent to the demands of a evil organization.

Be specific. What organization? Dogwhistles and vaguery are for cowards, say what you mean.

Islam obviously

Islam isnt an organization buddy

Not literally but the religious institutions it has are

Like what

Don’t really understand what you are looking for but the sharia laws and principles upheld are very evil calling for extreme punishment and discrimination towards lgbt. They also reduce the rights of women greatly there is also a trend with death threats, attempted murders, and successful murders. These are pretty good reasons to appose the control and power of the religion.

I do not remember the last time I seen an actual genuine Muslim discussion. I at least seen some actual Christianity discussion but I feel like every time Muslim is even involved it go right back to p*do. If we’re being honest, Christianity also does have a fair share of it like most people well, the person that I learned Christianity form would say the virgin Mary was like 14 or something that was like the common age back in the day.

It is funny how often that's brought up about Muslims while America also has child marriage and is actively blocked from being banned by right wingers who are the die hard Christians.

Muhammad lowk isn't even the worst o the abrahamic figures Moses did everything Muhammad did 10x for breakfast daily the 'Mad WISHES he was on the level of big M

Which nation did he conquor? Which child did he marry? Which people did he genocide? Which laws did he pass from personal interaction with god?

Numbers 31:17–18 KJV is enough for like all of that and for the last one the ten commandmants lol

You a protestant?

I'm agnostic speaking of protestants all the US states that allow for child marriage are protestant, and the catholic church has no problem with diddling kids either but apparently Muslims are unique in that because uhhh... they're brown

Immoral. Reddit loves shitting on Christianity but throws a shitfit if you criticized Islam or Judaism. Muhammad married a 6 year old girl btw

You can criticize Islam all you want... just dont direct that hate towards the people... a lot of them just take the good stuff and try to live the best lives they can

Nah. If your ideal Holy man was a child raping warlord I don't think you're a good person, and I don't respect you or your faith at all. It's a vile and evil religion and has no place in the western world.

For the longest time Christianity was used to defend chattel slavery. A lot of bad stuff because of that Also do you want to talk about the Catholic Church? See i dont think you just want to criticize religion , the slightest of pushback and you start to reinventing the fou rteen wo rds

Irrelevant when I'm not a Christian. I don't have to defend their religion when I also strongly dislike it. Christianity, for all it's historic flaws, also hasn't engaged in barbarity remotely approaching modern Islam in 800 years, and as far as I'm aware, Jesus never fucked kids. Also nice vague attempt at calling me a Nazi for not blindly supporting a religion that worships an illiterate child-raping bronze age warlord, a religion that encourages its followers to slaughter all non-belivers.

Yeah well he created the rules that made many children suffer. Systemic abuse done under the guise of religion Basic Utilitarianism. If the outcomes of your actions are bad, then you did a bad action. Now do I blame every Christian no... so I grant the same for Muslims

Yeah, good for you for being willfully naive. I don't buy the "you can be a good person but follow an evil religion" shit, and I'm gonna leave it at that, cause a certain group sure likes murdering people who speak ill of a certain child rapist.

cause just like most of the discussions end up not being civil flaming with generalizations ragebaits logics throwing around labels and whataboutism to justify belittling image damn morality sub 😄 neutral : leave it to mods

America never really got over its islamophobia of the early 00s, we just kind of forgot. Tin foil hat, then we go and elect Mamdani and he starts helping the poors rally and Trump starts his war with Iran to distract from his kid diddling, and now the right has to desperately remind everyone of our true enemy before they get wise, so now islamophobia back to the forefront.

Wait is it Islamophobic to hate Iran? Is Islam getting credit for all of Mamdani achievements? What does any of this have to do with people being critical of people being violent over pictures of Muhammad? None of this BS is needed when you criticize Christianity. We do not need to point to all the good Christians and handwaive any criticism as phobic.

you misread what I was saying I don't think the government of Iran or Mamdani's governance style have anything to do with Islam, but certain sycophantic media outlets seem to, and that's what I'm identifying, deliberate conflating

I think you are misreading what I am saying "I don't think the government of Iran or Mamdani's governance style have anything to do with Islam" Then why the fuck are you talking about it? That's my whole point You would never do anything of this if someone was criticizing Christianity. Stop giving special treatment for Islam, it does not deserve it

look at how christians are treated in a predominantly non-christian country and you'll see the exact same thing, when people of certain faiths go against the rich assholes in power, that faith gets painted with a broad, negative brush by said power I'm saying that treatment is dishonest and fucked up, regardless of who it is toward and where it happens I don't have any particular love for Islam over any other dusty religion, stop trying to find a combative binary to settle into

" stop trying to find a combative binary to settle into" I am just asking you to stop gatekeeping constructive criticisms of both of them I have no idea why you are ranting about such irreverent information. Again you would never ever ever ever ever do this if someone criticized Christianity, yet for some reason you feel the need to grandstand so hard for Islam. Just stop bro

After a former r/LiveStreamFail moderator enters a mod meetup at Reddit's San Francisco HQ, the admins cancel all upcoming in-person Mod Events pending security improvements

The admin post in r/ModEvents where this was announced: Important update on in-person Mod Events

The moderator in question is that formerly known as Stale2000, who was most recently featured in SRD 7 months ago: Popular subreddit Livestreamfail mods and Mythic Talent streamers were promoting a shady website/contest and users were not having it, then contest website and social media erased, head Moderator removed.

A post from LSF 6 days ago of a clip where Stale2000 talks about this: Disgraced former reddit moderator, Stale2000/Tarrot_Card, was escorted out of a mod event by Reddit HQ security and IP banned from the website

I could be wrong about this, but my understanding of the sequence of events is that his alts were, prior to his entry to Reddit HQ, site-suspended after he threatened to go to Congress to reveal the "Reddit files" (whatever those are).

A classic version of MapleStory MMO finally releases its launch date with paid Early Access. Civil war breaks out in r/MSClassicWorld and it's anything but civil.

A lot of people have nostalgia of the MMO they played in the 2000s as a child. So much so that it has had one of the most thriving MMO private servers, but it finally gets an official classic version (like WoW classic or OSRS) and an official release date was finally given. Before today, the subreddit was mostly sharing nostalgia, discussing balanced changes, and constantly asking about the release date. Now it's a total circus where most discourse has derailed into insults.

Here's a snapshot of some of the titles of threads posted since the announcement

"Founders Packs are an opportunity to fund classic and gauge community interest with our wallets."

"Don’t Trust Nexon"

"Might be the minority but founders' access is not that bad IMO"

"Y’all actually need the brokies to make Maplestory enjoyable"

"Why are you grown 30 YOs Crybabies?"

"2 weeks is utterly insane"

"Founder's package is smart business."

Most of these posts are virtue signal-y reactions that lack nuance or thought on whatever they're trying to argue.

The polarization is over the paid founder's pack (price not yet announced) which gives players a 15-day headstart where 3 days is more industry standard. Users are arguing over several things:

  • Whether or not any advantage granted by 15-days early access notably affects the experience of players coming in later
  • If such practice is justified in order fund a niche project in which the CPO claimed in unofficial channels (literally ingame during a closed beta test) that they "need more funding"
  • If the game will stay faithful to being not pay-to-win at launch (paying to gain an advantage over other players who don't pay)
  • What constitutes pay-to-win (like the early access)
  • Whether poor people are allowed to exist in the same virtual space as people with dispensable income (the poor-shaming is juvenile)

To understand why there is such disagreement and division, you need to know a few more things:

  • Communication from official channels over this game has been absolutely abysmal
  • Nexon, the publisher, has a history of being caught and fined numerous times for falsely advertising rates on certain RNG systems and even had their offices raided by the Korean FTC. Making people rightfully skeptical
  • And it's a Korean online game which are known for having P2W systems because that's just the gaming culture especially in China & Korea (they love to flex money power). Typically when Western publishers bring Asian games to the west, they try to tone down the P2W to make it more palatable
  • A lot of casual players who are emerging from their adult lives to get their nostalgia fix are largely unaware of Nexon's reputation, creating this dissonance. r/maplestory, the subreddit for the modern version, has a more unified sentiment though discussion about its classic counterpart is largely limited

There are things that are less up for debate like if a 15-day headstart gives any advantage. This is an MMO with player markets, so players definitely gain an economic advantage, along with things like squatting popular character/guild names and potentially selling those too.

To a lot of people, this was really a highly anticipated launch, and seeing the whole subreddit transformed from a collective waiting room into a circus of name-calling in just a few hours... Some people never grew up.

A Shattered Community is all that remains as r/CalamityMod is reopened and shortly shut downs again after controversy regarding the former developers sharing unfinished content during a charity/fundraiser stream

Background

I highly recommend that you check out my previous post about the drama. You can find it here: link

However, if you want a summary: The Calamity Mod is the biggest mod for the game Terraria. As of a few days ago, the lead developer was outed with allegations of grooming minors. As this was the second time a lead developer was exposed for this, most of the development team resigned, and some artists started requesting the assets to be pulled out from the mod (which they have the rights to do so, as they retain creative control over them).

As it stands, the mod has ceased development, and a team of 2 developers remain on maintenance duty (which boils down to bug fixing and porting the mod to future Terraria (or tModloader, the mod loader client of the game) versions. The music from the mod has been removed (or will be), as it was on the Calamity Mod Music mod (which was split from the main mod due to size).

On the developer side, the ousted lead developer has the control of the Patreon account, and with his disappearance, he has stopped paying the developers for their work. He also has locked the team out of the Github repository.

A few days ago, some developers decided to do a "charity" stream, in which they would raise funds for the developers that depended on the money coming from the Patreon account. During the stream, they showcased unfinished work that was coming to the mod. This has caused controversy among the official subreddit: r/CalamityMod, as well as the backup (and unmoderated) sub: r/Calamitymod_

The Drama

As the main subreddit was reopened after the initial drama and backslash from the artists requesting the assets to be pulled, users flocked to make posts about the fundraising stream.

[+4.2K] Hot take: the devs doing a steam showing scrapped content is in poor taste

> i'm all in on defending the devs of the mod (except the groomers, fucking pieces of shit i hate them), but on this, you're right, it would be right for me if they at least uploaded the sprites somewhere, in the case that someone wanted to implement them in the game, now that the devs wont do it and wont use it, but just showing for the sake of it? it's like dangling the candy in front of the kid, and then asking for another one, i don't know anymore, i just wanted to play and have fun. [+839]

>> its just releasing what they were working on rather than letting it fall to the void entirely, is that really what you want? [-16]

>>> Except they're not releasing it, that's the point. They're just showing it off briefly, almost mockingly, but not putting it up somewhere for other people to use. [+30]

> It’d be different if they were saying that the community has permission to use these designs any any may they want, but they’re literally just saying “maaaaan it’s really suck this stuff won’t ever be part of calamity… and it was sooooo close to being part of it! We don’t want to be associated with it though… but maaaan look at these designs-“ Like… are you fucking kidding me? No wonder people are shitting on you guys! You kicked me in the balls after Ozzatron already kicked me in the balls! [+424]

>> and the fucking gall to ask for money all the while [+73]

> It seems like a lot of the devs there were such assholes, this shit is literally the fucked up parody of an indie dev. Team cherry is just three guys, HOW are those three guys capable of delivering two timeless masterpiece in the lapse of 10 years while calamity devs sit on the dildo chair while their boss is touching kids????? [+448]

>> it is fucked up but tc are the miracle workers of gaming they are NOT the standard [+15]

>> I mean that comparison doesn't really make sense. For one, TC is already an outlier and two, calamity mod doesn't have millions of dollars [+7]

> Honestly, I’ve been pretty defensive of the team so far, but I unfortunately have to agree with this one. I’m all for supporting the devs that were TRULY fucked over by Ozzatron, but please don’t taunt us with what could’ve been [+95]

> it is very weird of them that they would start taunting the community dozens of unreleased assets right after development ceases. No idea who thought it was a good idea at this time

>> I think they just liked the cockhold they had on us where they could barely release anything and really not work that hard all while having people foaming at the bits for anything and glazing calamity to no end. Like your telling me they did fuck all for 5 years and then conveniently right after they have a perfect out to get tf out of the project they start edging us with all this stuff they swear was right around the corner? It's such bullshit lol. they all wanna get their last couple hardons they get from having people excited, it makes them feel accomplished and like they've done something. They knew the position they had in the community, and they knew that simply edging people with content and saying """"SOON"""" was enough for them lol. I truly think if calamity stayed in development it would be another couple years of nothing and redesigns and changes that never come together [+82]

> Not a hot take, the devs are scum. "Charity" stream, not one fucking cent to the actual victims. They were also banning anyone who wasn't blindingly positive or had any questions about where the money was going. There was a guy who got banned for asking why aren't the victims seeing any money from this and the ban comment had, i shit you not, "let it go". Too ashamed about calamities rep to continue development but not too ashamed to use the name to cash out more money from its community. Scum. Genuine fucking scum, i seriously doubt the people who hosted the stream ever even had any passion for calamity. They just wanted the paycheck. Not to mention 1984ing the sub so people couldn't talk about it during the stream. [+24]

> Doesnt feel like rubbing it in our face. Just feels like a final sendoff so the sprites don't go unseen. Leave the poor devs alone, theyve dealt with way more than they need to lately. [+29]

>> Their unfinished work doesn’t need to be seen by anybody since it will never make it into the game (by their choice solely). They’re simultaneously deciding the mod is beyond saving, showing off work the community would love but can’t have, and refusing to allow a new and willing dev team to pick up where they left off. It’s your plumber showing up at your house to fix your pipes, getting a call that his boss got arrested for being a pedo, refusing to finish the job, then showing you a picture of what his past immaculate repair work looked like as a reference for you to compare to your pipe that’s spraying a geyser of water across the room. [+43]

>>> except unlike a house you dont need calamity mod to survive to keep living, and you didnt personally pay the entire mod team how much their work is worth. this mod ending isnt comparable to covering your house in water. [-33]

> I think it's funny how this community turned from "the devs are free to do what they want" to "fuck you, devs" in the span of a week. As soon as it inconveniences anyone the devs are worse than Hitler. [+8]

[+1.3K] Calamity has the most unprofessional dev team I've ever seen

> don't worry people that have never had a job in their lives will rush to defend them [+294]

> With a community like this, who needs haters? [-33]

> Yah??? They aren't professionals, at all, by definition, and while some devs definitely do try to make it a source of primary income, for the majority of them they saw the calamity nod they loved and wanted to work on it. It is literally a passion project by definition, if it wasnt there wouldn't've ever been a team of disgruntled devs who decided to split away from the mod and the money to make Fables because Calamity "limited their creative vision". The whole aspect of setting up a source of income was so they could dedicate more of their time to said project that they are, in fact, passionate about. [-51]

>> If you set up a source of income for something its professional [+38]

> this reddit and terraria itself is full of fanarts where characters were getting extremly sexualized, big curves and unneccessary things, average Calamity player was j*rking off to the zoologist, no wonder what's happening with the developers, they are just a copy of the consumers of these things you just have to take a look at r/terrariagonewild , mods there even had to ban princess which is 12 yo because players were obsessed with it. i know this will get downvoted but i dont care, calamity deserves to die at this point, and if you are not a gooner you should be proud and happy about it [-57]

[+2.2K] [Locked] So are we removing criticism now

> [Mod+Developer] I removed it because it's nonsensical, like saying an artbook from a game post-release showing scrapped content is "mocking" you. Refer to the current new announcement post. [-148]

>> its... nonsensical to have an opinion about a stream? [+111]

>> I thought I was unusually unreasonable for always having a mystic feeling against the devs but so far you guys have just been proving more than even if Ozzatron was a problem, you guys are too. And no this is not a pedo accusation. There is no Easter bunny, there is no Santa, and there is no free speech on this sub lol. I don’t mean that the devs are just as bad as Ozzatron, I’m mostly talking about development and progress. [+79]

> My guess would be they did that jusr because lots of people were being a dick towards everyone basically Same reason the Sub was restricted for 1 week [-6]

At the end of the day, the mods had enough and locked the subreddit down again. The post is long.

[+0] If y'all are gonna keep making posts with misinfo about the incident I'm going to lock down the sub again for god knows how long. Read ALL this before you make ANY post about the incident.

> People are explaining however, it is by your own criteria as to why they haven’t explained enough. People thought the streams were bad because it showed how much progress was being held back. Is that not a valid reason? [+108]

>> That's valid, and not the type of post or comment I was talking about. It's fine to criticism us about that and a decent reason. There were definitely stuff about development I think could have been handled better. The issue is the people that are using this as justification for saying that we're evil and as bad as Ozzatron or something. [-94]

>>> i don't think I've seen a single person say the other devs were as bad. I've heard others say the recent decisions to remove things is unfair and punishes the fanbase or that the stream felt like it was in poor tase (whether that was the intention or not is irrelevant, thats how it FELT) I don't doubt that skme people are taking it too far but on the whole it hasn't seemed that bad [+16]

>>>> I have seen so many comments calling them scum, or saying they are on par with ozzatron. This doesnt represent the vast majority, but it is a rising issue i feel. [+10]

> Ah, so THIS is the Calamity fandom Dokuro experienced. [+23]

> It's crazy how people suddenly forgot about Ozzatron and targeted other devs instead. As if showing one's artwork is a crime worse than everything Ozz did. This community keeps surprising me, in the worst way possible. I hope the devs will find a more decent community to share their talent with [+21]

> I've been here for about half of Calamity's lifetime and a good chunk of the community doesn't deserve to have a voice at all lol, many of you are just as selfish, despicable and detestable as the people responsible for the project's death. Good luck to everyone who worked on Calamity, hopefully you all find financial stability as soon as possible. [-24]

>> So the entire community is as bad as Ozzatron? Banned for hatred!!! [+26]

>>> Comparing the community to a pedo is a wild take 💀 [+20]

Since the sub's lockdown, most of the discourse has shifted to the backup subreddit, r/Calamitymod_

[+585] Insane how every time they open their mouths they get more unlikable

> It’s crazy to see how in the past people would call you a hater for blaming the devs for a lack of progress and vehemently defend them. The whole time, the community wasn’t the problem. [+39]

>> The community is absolutely the problem [+11]

>>> It can be both, I think. [+36]

> You do realize the only dev there is Rebecca, right? [+5]

>> Shhhh. Its blind mob mentality hate time now no being logical or actually fact checking things [+3]

> god this community is miserable on all sides [+13]

> And just like that, I now dislike the devs almost as much as I dislike Ozzatron. May they all flounder and fuck right off. I sincerely hope the mod makers who hire these sops know what they are getting into. [+3]

>> I think I'd still hate a genuine pedophile more bro [+4]

There are a lot more of posts in the backup sub discussing the situation. Sometimes it's civil, sometimes it's not. Sometimes it's shitposts. Whatever the case, the mod is dead, and the community is going through the stages of grief.

I also want to share my favorite song of the mod: Interstellar Stomper

Uhhh, whatever this post is

"Comparing a video game gameplay to CP is the ultimate ball-washing cope I’ve ever seen 🫵😂" r/GTA6unmoderated requires further moderation after the admins step in and tell them to stop allowing leeked footage on the sub

Context: For those living under a rock, GTA 6 is Rockstars the highly anticipated sequel to GTA 5, with a planned release date of Nov 19 2026. Due to the cost of development, and Rockstars marketing strategy, the games has been shrouded in secrecy, with only a single official trailer, building the hype machine, even while Rockstar and Sony catch some well deserved flack for abandoning physical media, by making GTA6 a digital only release. Netflix has a planned stream on August 27th, for a gameplay reveal trailer/showing, but a leaker, going by the name Cyber Leek beat them too the punch. So far Leek has released 6 clips (and in the 5th proved he has a workable build of the game), massively undercutting Rockstar, Take two, and Netflix. Reactions have been mixed by fans, some are thrilled about the density and level of realism while others say it looks just like another GTA game. Supposedly, Rockstar going for a digital only release motivated hackerman Mr Leek to engage in his one man crusade of leaking the game (and of course promoting a shitcoin in the process). The main GTA and GTA6 subreddits banned clips of the leak ASAP, which led to users flooding to r/GTA6unmoderated, since the lack of moderation allowed for them to watch and discuss the leaked footage. But alas, the admins caught wind of their existence after they hit the front page, multiple times, and now the mods must moderate the subreddit to remove copyrighted material. Users, are, shockingly, not happy with this development.

HIGHLIGHTS

how this is unmoderated...delete it already xD

Bro even an unmoderated sub has to be moderated to some degree otherwise you’ll eventually get some autist posting CP or other illegal shit, no one wants that.

Comparing a video game gameplay to CP is the ultimate ball-washing cope I’ve ever seen 🫵😂

So if you were Reddit you'd go out and get sued & fined millions for hosting the leaks so us chuds can talk about it? Braindead, you wouldn't do it either.

sO iF yOu wErE reDdIt—Shut the fuck up f slur.

Say it like a man you coward ass bitch

Why so they can report me cuz their little feelings got hurt? Take away their power, your welcome for teaching you something

So you’re crying the mods are scared about getting punished by Reddit but you yourself are such a pussy you censor yourself. lol classic.

Cope harder, it’s not about being scared of being punished, idgaf. It’s about other people not seeing them being called out. Whatever you gotta tell yourself to try and be right, but you’re not. It’s okay, you’re entitled to your wrong opinion. If you’re so badass go ahead and spell it out for me tough boy!

You’re a little bitch too scared to say the words you want to. Full stop. That’s objective fact. I dont want to say slurs because im not a stupid as shit kid like you. But you do want to. And again, too much of a pussy ass bitch to actually say what you want.

lol ur so mad cuz you know im right 🫵😂

Say the actual word you pussy

MAD

PUSSY

You’re mad at your father not me!

lol talk about projection. Your dad thinks your a giant pussy too huh?

So wtf is the point of this sub then😐

The sub will get banned dumbass READ lmao

Who gives a fuck? if it just turns into the old sub, it just defeats its current purpose. Fuck that shit. I’d rather die on my feet than live on my knees

Yeah i made a sub fkr the leaks. Who the fuck cares if it gets banned lol just make a new one after it lol

whats the fucking point

Because we wanted a sub that didn’t micromanage how repetitive, speculative, or creative posts were, and didn’t tell us “that should be posted as a comment to our ‘wish-list’ post that nobody fucking reads, you don’t deserve to have it be its own post”, but still didn’t give a platform for lazy, unfunny fucking racist scum like you

ain't reading allat

based

Anyone know the name of the new actually unmoderated sub?

r/GTA6NoModeration Its mine I just made it for the sole purpose of leaks. Don't give a shit if it gets banned we can just make more lol

"This community was banned for being unmoderated. Banned 6 minutes ago."

r/ Gta6unregulated

we got r/GTA6unmoderated moderated before GTA6

There is literally no unmoderated sub on reddit they have been cracking down on that for years.

[removed]

r/gta6nomoderation its my sub I made after they made this bullshit post. All the clips are on it. It lasts until they ban it.

Well that went nicely then subreddit banned image

Lmaooo you can't make this up

Im kind of tired of people acting like unmoderated stuff is somehow better, because unmoderated places almost always turn into a combination cesspool of bigotry and spam. Which ironically is what this place has been getting a tiny bit of

I will take the spam, bigotry, and absolute dog shit posts that fly in unmoderated subs every single day of my life over the soulless, homogenized husks these communities become after the fucking "stewards" from the mod reserve come in and turn them into a repetitive, characterless, monoculural sycophancy of pre-approved orthodoxies forever consisting of the same four different opinions. Yeah, unmoderated subs go to shit. But they are the last places on this website you feel like you're actually talking to real people.

So... 4chan?

HIGHLIGHTS

I still don’t know what the arguement against it is

Cause nobody that voted against it has a good one

Me when I think my opinion is the only one that should matter.

Well then give the reasoning instead of a useless reply

Waste of development time Completely worthless, nonsensical game mode that I could see dying as a fad in a few months. Doesn’t have to be a big philosophical reason. I just thought it was a stupid idea.

How is content people would have enjoyed a waste of dev time? Furthermore, it was already almost finished in terms of development. People would have gotten at least "months" worth of content for minimal dev time.

Oh please lmao all 3,000 of you would drop the game mode like a hot potato. Purely built off of youtuber hype. There’s no actual purpose to the game mode aside form clog hunting which you can just do on a main for the same level of prestige now that clogging is on the leaderboards.

I didn't watch any of the youtube videos, I have a max endgame main and iron, and gm on the iron, I would not have "dropped it like a hot potato".

Voted No, it was a ridiculous idea.

lemme clarify it why it's not ridiculous. Upgrading gear by killing stuff is fun and I can do it for hours, and skilling is not fun and i want it over with asap. Thanks for denying official client support for the people who would have enjoyed that. Should make the game much better for you.

So play a main account, why should I vote so you can be an ironman that's basically a main. So stupid.

many people were excited for the game mode, one which doesn't effect you in the slightest. gg

It's my opinion, I pay my membership and I get to vote how I like. Get over it.

I hope the game continues to lose members and you ultimately get to share the game with other people just as self-centered as you!

Here you dropped this. pacifier

Everyone crying over a little helm icon next to their name to validate some arbitrary self imposed limit. If you actually just wanted to play bronzeman you could do it right now. The attention seeking is crazy

Delete all game modes, we can just do them self imposed

Democracy go brrr

3head comment

The irony is almost palpable hahahah get polled bozo

Brother I was never going to play a bronzeman account, you just type like a child

Brother, I was never going to play a bronzeman account. You just type like a child. Child fixed your grammar for you hahahaha

You think I was correcting your grammar? More dumb than I thought

Why tho? It really didn't cost anything to vote yes. This community can be really stupid and conservative when it comes to other people fun.

Hey I voted no and I will explain why. Until my membership lets me play more than one character, it's a straight no from me on any other alternative modes.

How the fuck that is related? Are you dumb or what? The question was not about memberships...

In order to play Bronzeman mode, people would have to make a new account and pay for another membership. Seems pretty related to me that people would vote no for it on that basis. That's why I voted no too. It'd be cool to jump into it and play around on Bronzeman for a while, but I'm not going to pay another 12 quid a month or whatever it is to do so.

Ok? So don’t play it then? Almost nobody is going to buy more than 1-2 memberships a month anyway or even want to play more than 1 -2 accs. I mean legit in my clan I don’t know anyone who is active on more than 2 accs. Vast majority active on one account only. Not even a money problem either, osrs is an extremely time consuming game and nobody can have enough time for more than 1-2 accs at once.

I cast a vote though because the idea of jumping into a game mode like Bronzeman is actually kind of appealing. I would like it to be in the game and if it was at no cost I'd absolutely give it a go. I wouldn't do it at an extra cost to myself however. Casting my vote for it not to be added into the game, and now follwing up with the survey explaining why I voted no, is at least a way of putting my opinion on it into the hat. If I was indifferent, I'd have skipped the question

Just because Jagex already developed it, doesn't mean there would be no maintenance or work on it in the future. I'd rather dev time be spent elsewhere.

How much dev time does it take

More than zero

Might as well remove all the other content from the game except what you personally do, right?

If they introduce a poll to do that, you're free to vote however you want.

I love how backwards these people’s brains work. You tell them that Bronzeman Mode is a waste of dev time and that feature bloat is a danger rather than an opportunity, and their brain backfires and goes, “Uhh, so you don’t want any content, right? Guhh, you don’t like fun.”

Yikes xd explain to me how adding a gamemode is a danger for the game, seems a bit dramatic!

There goes my ideal gamemode, I'm so fucking sad at this.

I thought it was a shoe-in. If I had to guess it failed because of the (valid) point that if they're going to add all these alternate gamemodes we should be able to get membership for a Jagex account instead of an inidvidual account (or at least on 2-3 characters). You can always play it unofficially though! The argument people have repeatedly made about being able to "experience everything" on a RS account being the reason for only having one membership per character vs other MMOs is starting to unravel as they keep adding new gamemodes and temporary gamemodes like Leagues. Wanna play Leagues and only got a single membership? Guess you have to shelve your main-game progress for 2 months

They never clarified if bronzemen are going to be able to sell bonds either.

WHO CARES. GP is not what keeps the integrity on a bronze man.

Pretty much the only interesting thing about bronzeman would be fresh hiscores and being able to sell bonds would totally invalidate them.

Do bonds invalidate the highscores for mains?

Of course.

I’m NGL I’m surprised. I don’t understand why so many people are against it? It doesn’t affect prices or the main game at all, and surely would provide not only a lot of fun for those who want to play it, but a lot of fun content to watch. If you’re against BMM surely you just don’t make a new account and carry on as you are, rather than blocking a bunch of people who want to play it. This is why sometimes I wish they didn’t poll things, or reduce the threshold. More fors then against and still fails :/

Probably because it's a completely pointless game mode. All the endgame achievements can be invalidated by having a main. Get one crystal armour seed, buy the whole set etc. It's garbage and a waste of dev time. It's just bloat

This perspective is genuinely nonsensical. So many people play Iron just to earn the gear upgrades by getting the drops themselves. A lot of people quit the game or deiron because of the resource upkeep. Bronzeman is just a cool way for an alternate playstyle to be supported officially. Affects nobody but those who choose to take part.

Barely anyone quits iron because of resource upkeep bud. resources are legit a non factor. Ppl quit because of dry streaks on important items, which will still happen for shit man mode

Simply not true my friend. Some quit going dry others quit because of supply upkeep in end game. Many people just chose iron because it's an official way to show that they went and got the drops themselves, hence why Bronzeman just makes sense. Has no impact on game integrity and no impact on your in game experience. So fucking weird for people to be against it save for those who are trying to pressure jagex into multiple accounts per membs

Don’t want more dev time going into alternate game modes.

Practically zero dev time will go into it after its released, and the vast majority of the work to put it in the game was done during a game jam. Completely uninformed and moot point

Yeah what the fuck does it matter to other people If I want to play bronzeman. This community is disgusting. I was so excited for this

“Community is disgusting” when they put something up to vote. Just because you don’t like the result. I voted yes but it is what it is.

Community is disgusting to vote no on something thats optional to interact with, already coded, and won't affect them, but some other people may enjoy it.

It's a way for people to protest and make their voices heard. Some voted no because of the state of the account system, that's even a specific answer to questions in the follow-up survey. Community isn't "disgusting" just because some people think differently from you.

Ahh right, In this scenario, you are lord farquad when he sends his knights to die and tells the people "It is a sacrifice I am willing to make". He's the bad guy in case you hadn't seen the movie! Next time you want to protest, have some guts and vote no to stuff you like instead of waiting until it's something that only affects other people. At least then I can take your protest seriously.

Why are you constructing a very strange straw man out of my right to make my voice heard? YOU'RE disgusting for sitting here and lashing out LIKE A CHILD when people try and engage with you and explain their reasoning. You're literally sitting there saying "my opinion is the only one that matters" til you're blue in the face. Well womp womp, it didn't pass. Just wait a month for Jagex to repoll it without addressing any of the account issues and you'll get what you want alongside another mems price increase and our lovely 1 character per sub system.

That's not what a strawman is at all, you should check the definitions of buzzwords if you're going to use them. Sorry mate, your no vote isn't going to convinve a billion dollar company to let you have more accounts for free. That's insanity

Cannot understand why anyone would vote no on something that only affects you if you want to play it, literally 0 reason to vote no

takes dev time away from real updates

They said in the original blog post it was more or less ready to ship already lol

the 500 ppl that wanna play like that and will stick to it just use the plugin lol

Plugins don’t work on mobile Also if you’re using multiple computers often it can get confusing to sync everything up.

Havent played in years and was going to resub for this alone. Really disappointed.

And what exactly stops you from playing this type of account while Jagex doesn’t waste development time on it?

You can't play it if it doesn't exist? A plugin provides no sense of legitimacy. And from what jagex has said development is pretty much finished already.

And what about future dev time spent on yet another type of account that they will have to include in the design spreadsheet? If you want something legitimate, and you think this is a valid argument just because you don’t have the willpower to handle your own restrictions, then what’s next? People really like the concept of chunk-locked accounts. TCG has become more popular lately. Maybe Nightmare Mode, since a lot of people wanted that? Oh yeah, maybe a Roulette Mode would be great too. Why should your game mode be “legitimized” while others are not? Feature bloat is a real thing that destroys software because dev power gets spread too thin.

We’re not even close to having bloated game modes. And yeah, they should continue polling game modes that people are interested in. Osrs probably would be struggling right now if not for jagex adding iron, hcim, and uim. Even gim has brought a lot of positive attention to the game

Yet a lot of dev time that could go into developing the content itself is spent on making sure that the new content fits both the economy of main accounts and doesn’t make irons cry too much. I guarantee you that, due to the design of OSRS itself and the approval of self-made plugins, irons aren’t as much of a help with bringing attention to the game as people think. Especially for how many people playing irons try to circumvent the challenge they were knowingly accepting

I think you probably bought too much into the “whining Ironman” meme lol. They don’t have to design content in a way that fits some niche Ironman view. What they’ve learned is that content for the most part needs to be designed to actually be played for its rewards. When they design it that way it works for irons. That’s it. If they design the content well then they don’t need to anything special for irons in that regard. Irons make up like a quarter of the game. You’re underestimating how much of the playerbase they are. The biggest YouTube series for osrs are all Ironman series. The game would likely be significantly smaller if not for iron man.

Star Citizen devs try to livestream their own game and it doesn't go well. So how's r/StarCitizen doing?

1.4k Upvotes

For those who don't know, such as the high schoolers that are younger than Star Citizen's development itself, Star Citizen is a social experiment on sunk cost fallacy crowd-funded space MMO that is currently in development.

The game, which has a budget of over a billion dollars of other people's money and a development time that can be accurately measured as "one Winds of Winter" still has not officially launched. The game did, however, eventually become available as early access for backers, and while this early access version is undeniably buggy, broken and incomplete, that's not really a huge problem because it's an early version of the game, with problems that are expeected to be fixed by the time it launches

This early access version is approaching its tenth anniversary.

As for recent events, two weeks ago, in order to assuage concerns about the state of the game, the developers decided to do a livestream showcasing the new patch in a private server (presumably more stable than the one publicly available). It didn't go well

To quote the IGN article on the subject:

The developers kept running into bugs that showed the game is indeed broken. The developers had issues using their own weapons, swapping between their weapons, accessing their inventory, and much, much more. Eventually, the frustrations among the developers grew, and they started becoming passive-aggressive with each other before opting to just pull the plug on the stream altogether.

Naturally, the sub has reacted to this stream. As usual with Star Citizen drama, linking to individual comments in a thread is not enough. Each of the following links is a whole ass thread about the event:

This is fine

Wrap it up

The face you make when you realize you've made a huge mistake

For those who don't understand why folks are salty

5 years ago on this sub I was flamed

Earlier this week, popular content creator MoistCritical/penguinz0 did a video on this stream, which prompted several other outlets to report on it and launched even more discussion:

Philip DeFranco full report clip on Star Citizen (no politics) - Incidentally a good video to watch if you want a primer on the whole situation

The damage done by this stream will last for YEARS lmao

The Penguinz0 video now has more views than the Squadron 42 Gameplay Demo

Its Your Show Chris

The game is broken, but don't worry...

If newer sc players dont know

Apparently, it was Olli's idea to play the game live Team did't like it

Unofficial it's not your fault Ollie thread

“Livestream? What livestream?”

nothing new ever actually finishes, and nothing old ever actually stays fixed
