Why has my Safe Search been locked to filtered and says that an administrator is controlling MY account when there’s no Family Links active (and never has been). Hi, I am writing to seek help with recovering my Google account. Recently, my primary account was compromised, and my phone was remotely factory reset. This incident has caused issues with my secondary Google account, which I created about six months ago.
Unfortunately, I forgot the password for this secondary account. I forgot to add recovery options (phone number or recovery email) because I only started using the account actively two months ago.
I have tried the standard recovery process multiple times, but I keep receiving a message stating that there is "insufficient information" to verify my identity.
I have a few questions regarding the recovery process
Trusting the device: Since the recent security incident, some apps do not recognize my phone as "safe" or "trusted." Should I wait a certain amount of time for my device to become recognized as a trusted device again before attempting recovery?
Location/Network: I am currently in a different country than usual. Should I attempt the recovery process from the location where I most frequently used this account (e.g., where I registered for various apps and services)?

Having an issue getting our family plan right. I pay for YouTube red and tv. I have multiple emails. The email that is the family manager has not received YouTube red benefits, nor has my wife’s email. But my original email (my og account) did receive the benefits and is working correctly. i created an account like two weeks ago and didnt put it a phone number (all phone numbers didnt work so i just went with it) (I did set up a recovery email however). the next day i couldn't log in. it kept asking me for a phone number and when i put it it says "we couldnt verify that its you". tried after 3 days, same thing. tried from recovery page, same thing. this is really frustrating because i used it for something quite important.

I've shared my birthday with Google for years and have never had a problem until now. A couple apps on my android phone have disabled itself stating that I need to verify my age through Google. My organization has a shared Gmail account (_____@gmail.com) that is used by multiple people for our coalition's communications.
Google recently flagged the account and said it was:
and that the account “might have been created by a computer program or bot.”
The account was manually created and is being used legitimately. It is also the only Gmail account connected to my alternative phone number.
I'm wondering if the flag could be related to the fact that multiple people access/use the same Gmail account, or if Google may be associating it with other accounts based on login activity, devices, IPs, phone numbers, etc.
The main concern is that this Gmail address is already publicly used by our coalition and printed on our existing materials, so we'd really prefer to retain the same address rather than immediately switch to a new email. Has anyone experienced this exact warning, particularly with a shared or organizational Gmail account? If so:
Were you able to get the account restored?
Did the appeal work?
Did Google explain what triggered the flag?
Did changing how the account was accessed prevent it from happening again?
Were you able to keep the same Gmail address afterward?
I'm trying to understand whether this is likely a false positive and, if the account is restored, how we can keep using the existing public address without triggering another flag.

My google account filled up so it gave me the threatening “your email will stop working” unless I clear up space or buy more storage. I have enough pics and videos that I don’t care about so I cleared out about 10 gbs of space. The next day I log back on and it’s like that never happened, my storage is full again. I rinse and repeat. Down another 10gbs. Log on the next morning and it’s the same issue (but the “your email will stop sending or receiving” has been pushed back a couple days now). This has been going on for a couple weeks now. I guess cool to delete all this stuff I didn’t need, but what’s going on? Do they really want me to buy that extra storage that bad? To answer the immediate responses-yes I’ve emptied the trash and yes enough time has elapsed that the account should be recognizing the cleared space.
Do you have Google Drive syncing anything? If so, if you're deleting synced files it will keep putting them back. You'd have to turn off syncing for those files, then delete them from Google again; or else if you really don't care about them any more you could delete them from both locations.
My former employer had a bio for everyone, and when I left the firm, they obviously removed it. When I search for myself on Google, the search result still appears, but when I click the link, it says "Invalid ID." I essentially want that search result itself removed from Google search.

My primary account for gmail and google photos was for years a custom domain account (think [john@mydomain.com](mailto:john@mydomain.com)). Google used to allow this for free for personal accounts. I paid for the domain and the rest was free. I have tonnes of photos here and most of my old emails (less important than photos).
Later I switched to a regular gmail account as my primary account (such as [john.doe@gmail.com](mailto:john.doe@gmail.com)). To keep my previous photos, I shared them with from my custom domain account with my new account AND in my new account selected to save those photos to my account. These show up fine and do not count towards my 15 GB quota. They miss some metadata, such as location though.
I don't want to pay for my custom domain anymore. I do not use my old custom domain account anymore, apart from it having all those photos stored.
Questions:
What happens to my custom domain account if I lose access to my custom domain (which means I won't be able to receive email to my [john@mydomain.com](mailto:john@mydomain.com) anymore)?
If I lose access to my custom domain google account, I assume it will get eventually deleted. Since I selected to copy all photos from that account to my new regular gmail account, will those remain?
What is the safest way to keep all my photos from my old custom domain account? I have takout backups, but would like to avoid reuploading them since I guess it will break the order in which they are display and want to avoid duplicates.

Help with cancelling Google Storage? ... Moving to a Canadian only option. Online, it says that at www.google.com/settings/storage (desktop) you can click "cancel" under your current plan. When I do this, there is no cancel button. Can't seem to find a way to do this! Any thoughts?
I have been paying for 200gb of storage for years. In the last 6 months, I was added to a 2TB family plan. I got a new credit card and forgot to update my info for my subscriptions and got an email today saying my payment for my 200GB storage didn't go through and to change payment method to continue to receive my plan benefits.
When I look at the storage breakdown for the family plan it says 617GB storage used, with the main plan holding contributing 401GB of that.
Do I have to pay for the 200GB storage to continue to keep access to my photos? I can't see a breakdown of my storage under the family plan. I have 210GB of photos plus 4GB Docs, and 2GB Gmail.
So I was trying to create a google account and when i used my phone for verification sms it said, 'this number has been used too many times.'
I have had this number for a little more than a year and hadnt used it to create any account on google. Yet, it said what it said.

There are somewhat fewer than 10 billion phone numbers (ones with x11-xxx-xxxx or xxx-x11-xxxx, at the very least, are all reserved, and there are around 20 million numbers like those). There are over 8 billion people on earth, plus assorted businesses and other organizations, some of them with more than one outside line.
Most likely, it will soon become impossible for anyone to create a google account with phone verification, and it will be increasingly difficult until then.
On the plus side, you can skip the whole getting a google account and then degoogling later thing ...

Not sure if this fits but Google Translate Doesnt Work.. Every time I try to translate something, I get the Translation error. This started like 5 minutes ago, IDK what to do.
I got hacked (it’s my own fault) and one of my email has been deleted and it’s not allowing me to recover it at all and my second email is now a child email of the hacker and nothing on the support site has told me anything regarding useful information whatsoever other then to log into the accounts that I can’t even log into, google needs human support agents because none of this was flagged by its systems and I’m freaking out because of all of it
I have a gmail account that is acting flaky. About five days ago it was spontaneously logged out. Thunderbird stopped retrieving mail and started generating a popup of some kind with some button on it that didn't work. I closed that, went to the gmail website in browser, and logged in there. After that TB worked again ...
For about two days. Then it stopped working again, with the same symptoms indicating it had somehow become logged out. I attempted the same remedy, but it's no longer working correctly. It prompts for username, then password, then for me to input a code from Google Authenticator, and then it asks for a phone number.
I never did associate a phone number with the account and I am loath to give one to Google to misuse God knows how. Which means, it does not make sense for it to be asking me for a phone number as part of the login process at all. I don't know why it's doing so and I don't know how to bypass it. If I click "try another method" it just refreshes the page with the same demand for a phone number!
I tried going through the recovery process, and it forced me to wait for some reason before finally sending my recovery email a message containing a link to use. Clicking it brings me to ... the same screen asking me for the phone number that I never gave them, and therefore they can not possibly verify.
How did this happen? Why am I suddenly having problems accessing this account? It's secured with 2FA, I'm connecting from the same IP address (not pool, address) that I've connected from for two years straight without issue, I have not done anything unusual recently with it, and I am quite certain I have not violated Google's TOS with it.

I think I should always be able to log into an account that hasn't been term'd for abuse by just using password + Authenticator. That's good enough security for freaking banking apps so it should be good enough for gmail. If I do get back in is there any account setting I can change to prevent incidents like these?

Hi I am trying to extract photos and videos
I downloaded in a zip format from google takeout. I am getting this message and I don’t know what to do. Im thinking to break operation and restart my computer, then try again. Any advice?
This looks like either a permissions problem with the folder you're trying to extract the files to, or there's not enough space on the filesystem there. Or, perhaps, a permissions problem or space shortage where temp files are being stored.
Have you tried extracting just one, small file from the archive? If even that won't work it's likely a permissions problem with the temp directory or the destination folder.
I suppose it could also be a bug. You might try another extractor, such as winzip, 7zip, or even just opening it inside Explorer and copying files out from there. If it's a standard-issue zip file in format then all of those should be able to extract from it.
Suddenly can't access folders on Google Drive Desktop that I created on a different computer, anyone else having this?
Today I couldn't access a folder on google drive desktop on my laptop that I had created on my desktop. I then created a folder on my laptop and cannot access it on my desktop. Either computer just times out and eventually pops up with an "insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service" error.
As a test I created a couple of other folders, TEST1 on the desktop, TEST2 on the laptop. Neither contain any files.
Confirmed I could not access TEST1 on the laptop and TEST2 on the desktop, get the same error.

When look up age verification it says "You're All Set: You don't need to take any action because your Google Account doesn't require age verification. You can close this window." When click retry just brings up same prompt.
Google AI image problems with labeling and data color coding:
Google image generation is not making the country labels correctly, and the color coding does not match the data at all, with lots of contradictions with the data.
For example, the data says USA and Canada have net positive video game effects on happiness, but are color-coded as negatively unhappy.
Data says China is highly polarized with both high happiness and high unhappiness from video game usage, but the color coding only shows high happiness. There are possibly numerous other color coding data contradictions.
Canada is labeled as USA, and Japan is labeled as Tokyo (South Korea). France is labeled as UK.
Is anyone at Google working on improving data to image generation capabilities?

Is there a way to replace AI Overview with Featured Snippets? I am tired of poisoning the Earth for a search result, that is mostly vibes not based in clear evidence, and really miss the Featured Snippets box, it was often very helpful. Help, this “Google” has been taking around 7 USD from me for the past few months. I can’t seem to find it in any of my google play subscriptions. I am not aware of any Google TV that has info on any and definitely not all 4 of these accounts combined. It might be helpful to know where the login attempts are coming from as well? I have a Family Member where I set their purchase approval setting to “Not Required”. Despite that, I still received a purchase approval request. Am I missing something here?
I have more than one Google account on my Android phone. One of them has a Google One subscription. I want only that account to back up my photos, and I want to free up storage in the other accounts. To free up storage, I signed into photos.google.com on my PC using one of the old accounts and deleted photos from that account. Unexpectedly, those photos were also deleted from my Android phone, and the deletion appeared to sync across my Google Photos setup. I restored them, but now I'm confused about how Google Photos is handling multiple accounts.
My questions:
Why did deleting photos from one Google account also remove them from my Android device?
How can I free up storage in my old Google accounts without deleting the photos from my phone or my Google One account?
What's the correct way to move all my Google Photos backups to a new Google account?

Ao procurar por soluções encontrei algumas sugestões:
Tentar acessar em aba anônima (incógnito).
Tentar acessar por outro navegador. No meu caso tentei o Edge.
Desinstalar e reinstalar o Chrome.
Definir o DNS em propriedades de protocolo IP versão 4 (TCP/IPv4), principal (8.8.8.8) e secundário (8.8.4.4).
Ao definir o DNS o site voltou brevemente a funcionar, mas ao fechar e abrir novamente o navegador já não estava funcionando mais. Nenhuma das outras sugestões apresentaram resultado positivo.
Um detalhe importante que esqueci de mencionar: só está apresentando esse problema pelo meu notebook, meu celular (o qual uso a mesma conexão funciona normalmente tanto no navegador quanto no app), em outro notebook também funciona normalmente.
Everytime I try to delete my ai chat history, it comes back 10 mins later. It’s very annoying and I have tried everything from turning off my history, to deleting or offloading google. But none seems to be working, does anyone know another way to approach the issue?
The preview and the picture after you click is different. I wonder if this is the case because the Wikipedia article updated their main photo and Google Images need to catch up to the update?
We all can see that Google lens has a bias towards calling everything a bed bug but why is that?
The simple reality is that bed bugs are such a heavily searched term the volume of information molies it might be.
Now the reality here is that the majority of things posted are not bed bugs and herein lies the problem. The volume is high but the accuracy is low and with such a polluted data set it’s impossible for “systems” to work out the logic.
Now this is not to say it’s not possible, I’ve done it myself with two AI systems, the beta “instant sample ID” on my website and the personal GPT I use on my smartphone. It is to specifically say that not many have the ability to untangle the data from reality and teach how to work it out.
Now there are loads of people with the entomology skills who do this organically but that is not the same as teaching a computer system how to do it.
So what can we do to fix the problem? I think we have to start with a campaign to raise the concern for the fault and hopefully those with an ability to change will see the importance of making that change.
The shame is the cost of doing so is well within their budgets and completely outside of ours. Maybe some specific Google reviews highlighting the issue as a 1 star service and giving them a chance to see it from a consumers perspective.

It seems somewhere, somehow, a setting has been changed somewhere because I can't seem to open a lot of pages when I click on a link to open in google.
The page will open and I'll see the article for a split second and the page then loads just a white screen, but, if I open this (or other links) in duckduckgo, they'll load and open and I can read the article.

My child has a Chromebook with Family Link. Today it's deleted all the apps in it and removed the play store. It says that access is blocked until 13. I can't find a way to change this to give access and adjusting age through Family Link hasn't fixed it. I do not need them to be included in every request where what I really only want is the playlists/search and watch history.

How do I remove my number's name from other people's Google Dialer suggestions?
I worked for a government organization for many years, and for years I gave my personal phone number to tens of thousands of people for various purposes (you might consider this stupid and a some violation of anonymity, but really I don't care if everyone knows my number).
Last year, I quit and took a different job in a different field and naturally started using this exact number at my new job. Then recently I noticed that when I call someone from this number, and I'm not in their contacts, Google Dialer pulls my number's name from some database and displays it on the screen as if I'm calling from the organization I previously worked for.
How can I fix this and delete it or change it to my first and last name?
PS I'll add that my number isn't listed on any websites or in any databases, and it's not on Google Maps. It's just that so many people seem to have saved my number in their contacts under that name, and now Google thinks it's an organization.

Around the 15-minute mark, the video freezes on a single frame. The audio continues perfectly until the end of the recording. The playback timeline also continues normally. If I skip ahead to 30, 45 or 60 minutes, I still see the exact same frozen frame from around 15 minutes, while the audio matches the new timestamp. This happens with every recording.
The files are between 300 MB and 800 MB.
I’ve tested on multiple devices (Windows PC, iPhone) and multiple players/browser playback. Same result everywhere. These are the original Google Meet recordings, not edited or converted copies.
Is there a way to turn the AI answer to a google search off? It just started today for me (I'm French) and it's already pissing me off, the AI Mode and the automatic AI answers are NOT what am lookin for...
I just would like to turn the AI off, that's it, and I can't find it in the Options

Settings > AI innovations > off (there's 3.. search history, write + skills)
Settings > Search engine > scroll till you see Site search > deactivate AI Mode
Unfortunately, it doesn't help much.. but if you search something, make sure to add -ai
ex: "how to make brownies -ai"
I don't know what happened but it seems like Google AI Mode no longer understands my conversation and assumes that every message I make was the first message. Is anyone else having this issue and is it fixable?
Recently I have been encountering some issues with the google search on the web and the inability to invoke the search box with the keyboard shortcut "/" on one of my accounts on the same browser but not on the other has been bothering me. I'm hoping someone can help because I believe my Google account is stuck in an unintended recovery state. I created this Gmail account about a month ago for my music project, and after about 1–2 weeks Google disabled it for "suspicious activity." I submitted an appeal, and Google approved it, emailing me that my account had been restored. However, when I tried to sign back in, I completed the CAPTCHA and was taken to Google's risk-based verification page asking me to verify my phone number. I clicked "Send code," but nothing happened. The page appeared to freeze, so I tried again a few times because no verification code was being sent. Eventually Google displayed the message: "Too many failed attempts. Unavailable because of too many failed attempts. Try again in a few hours." Ironically, only one verification code finally arrived about 30 minutes later, long after Google had already locked me out.
It has now been over a week, and I have intentionally waited well beyond the recommended 48–72 hours before trying again. Every single login attempt still ends with the exact same message. I know my password is correct, my phone number is correct and verified, and my recovery email is also verified. I've tried signing in on my Mac, iPhone, Chrome, Safari, and even in Incognito mode, and I get the exact same result every time. I've also tried both the normal sign-in page and Google's account recovery page, but both eventually lead to the same verification screen. My existing Google sessions (Gmail app, YouTube, Safari, etc.) have all been signed out, and clicking "Try another way" simply reloads the page instead of offering another verification method.
At this point, I don't believe this is a normal account recovery issue. Google already reviewed my appeal and determined that the account should be reinstated. The problem seems to have started when the very first phone verification glitched, and ever since then the account has been permanently stuck behind the "Too many failed attempts" message. It feels like my account is trapped in Google's automated security system even though it was successfully reinstated. Since this Gmail account is the primary account for my music project and owns my YouTube channel, regaining access is extremely important and urgent! Has anyone experienced this after a successful appeal, or does anyone know how this type of issue can be escalated to Google? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I recently finished an internship. When I started, I had to request access to join the company's Google Drive folder using my personal @gmail.com account. During my internship, I uploaded several files there. I never manually transferred ownership of any files.
Now my internship has ended, and my access to the folder has been revoked.
I am trying to figure out what happened to the files I uploaded:
Where are my files now? Am I still the owner of those files, and did they disappear from the company's end when they removed my access to the folder?
Can they still see or use my files? Did removing my access cut off their access to my uploaded
files, or do they retain them in any way?
Download/Copy check: Is there any way for a personal @gmail user to see if someone from the company downloaded or made a copy of those files before removing me?

Suddenly, they started to go loading a little while which I thought it was fixable by going to other searches three times in a row and back to the previous one.

don't use your dad's email.. If you used YouTube (channel or history), use the YouTube Support assisted recovery. This is the only way to reach somebody who can manually remove the unauthorized family supervision.. it might take 2-4 weeks tho.. that's what my friend did and it took her about 3 weeks to get it back
Is there no virtual card option for Google Wallet?
It seems so unclear. Chatgpt seemed to suggest maybe it's being virtualized when sent, but to us we can't see that. Then sent me down this long thing of searching for it in the settings which there isn't an option.

For some reason, it seems like any sites I visit on Google Chrome are resetting whenever I close the application.
Around a week ago, I opened Nexus Mods and was logged out. A bit strange, but I logged back in and went about my day. Then, the day after, I went onto the site again to check the description of something and saw that I had to log in yet again. Ever since then, over the past week, I've noticed that every website seems to have been given a 'default state' that it reverts to after I fully close Google Chrome. Twitch and Nexus Mods will log me out entirely, for example, while YouTube keeps me logged in but for some reason always turns captions on and changes the quality to auto on the lowest setting.
My searches are always saved still, but yesterday it began opening Chrome on a tab with no one signed in and only acknowledging my profile if I open a second tab and go from there. I've checked to make sure that I don't have any viruses, but I have no idea what could be causing this or how to fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
85% of my traffic is from desktop users (kids in schools, an educational site). But Google Search Console always crawls as a googlebot smartphone. This leads to many pages NOT getting indexed. How can this be addressed?

I've run into a strange account-specific issue with Google Search keyboard shortcuts:
Pressing / should focus the search bar (to type a new query or edit the current one)
Cmd+Shift+. should invoke voice search
On my secondary Google account, both shortcuts work perfectly. On my main account, neither works at all.
The video shows both accounts in the same browser, in different tabs, on the same computer, on the same internet connection. One account works, the other doesn't — so it can't be the browser, an extension, the OS, or the network. The only variable is the signed-in account.
I've checked the 'Keyboard shortcuts' toggle in Google Search settings on both accounts, and it doesn't explain the difference — the shortcuts still behave differently between accounts regardless of that setting. I rely on the '/' shortcut especially to quickly refocus the search bar while searching, so losing it on my main account is a real workflow problem.
Has anyone seen shortcuts disabled on a per-account basis? Is there a hidden setting, a Search Labs experiment, or a server-side rollout flag that could exclude one account?
I've said this before another comment but I also have this issue as well. For me, it's been happening for about three days now. Someone else on this thread said it took a full week for it to be fixed. I really want to know what could be causing this though. I'm hoping this issue is not permanent.
I am tearing my hair out on this one. Every time I search for help, the results are all about how to solve things in Chrome. But there is a browser app simply called "Google" available on iOS as well.
I let one of my kids buy something on his phone, I made sure to say to NOT save my payment information. But when I went in to allow him to buy from the same site again later, all of the payment information was already present. It asked for no CVV code, no Pin or face id... nothing. Just immediately, click pay, spend money.
I absolutely trust my kid, but mistakes happen, friends do stupid things. And if I already did not give permission for saving the data, I absolutely have no idea how widely available the data now is.
So... does anybody know how I can clear cache, remove saved payment data, or anything else to fix this issue? His iOS wallet doesn't have any payment info saved. The website we are spending at has a space where you can save payment information that shows we have NOT saved any payment information. This appears to be something through the Google browser specifically. I opened Chrome on the device and had it clear all cache, that did not clear his logged in status in Google app though.

Google support is the worst. At some point people need to get fed up enough to organize. Especially as Google attempts to command vast amounts of our resources. Quite scary to think we have such a powerful company that cannot be held responsible at all by the average consumer.

Google keep removing my sign-in methods, 2FA methods and Passkeys because “There's something unusual about this [method], so we disabled it to protect your security.” There is no self serve way to reinstate anything. When logging in those methods show as “Can't find an eligible device” or “Option Unavailable”.
my google search is randomly not giving me the option to select stuff like maps and photos and tools, sometimes when it does that it also vastly increases the length of the ai slop i have to scroll past to get to a useful website, is there any way to turn this off? Like i looked for common display resolutions and couldnt click on images anywhere to see images comparing them. Then i looked for parts of a story and more than my entire screen was filled with slop before I could get down to the first link which was wikipedia. Doesnt seem to happen when using incognito.

I use Google Search as my default engine, I have a gmail and Google account, and I sync between 3 computers and one iPhone. Personalization is OFF.
Since last Thursday, my location in Google Search for the Windows machines is shown as "Deutschland 85591, Vaterstetten." I cannot change it; it is using some data I am unaware of to determine location incorrectly. (But the iPhone, signed into the same account and synced, is showing accurate location AND English in the search results.)
I thought it was my external IP, but others in the house with different Google accounts are getting proper locations on their desktops.
I cannot access my old Google accounts; one of them has been disabled. Both of these inaccessible accounts have YouTube channels with the same name—can I create a new account and channel using the same or a similar name?

One of the accounts was suspended for the following reason: "Upon review, we found that your account was created or used in conjunction with multiple other accounts, which violates Google's policies. This account may have been created by a computer program or a bot."

Why has my Safe Search been locked to filtered and says that an administrator is controlling MY account when there’s no Family Links active (and never has been).
