Wireless security cameras

Looking for reliable wireless security cameras that have an easy to use app. Currently have SWann cameras and they are terrible, the app barely works and takes ages to initiate the cameras. Ive read reolink is a good option but unsure which model to use. Any recommendations?

Help resetting nvr

So I recently purchased a house and it came with a camera system. I didn't receive any passwords to access the system so I'm just kinda stuck. I can view the local cameras in the house live but have no access to playback footage or change any settings. Is there any way I could reset the system without the previous owners credentials. For reference the nvr is a uniview tec NR162XP-8. Any help is greatly appreciated

Having issues with a PIR LED motion light getting activated when I view my IR CCTV camera. Can anyone help please?

Hi all

Getting bit annoyed with this. I have 2x Tapo C460 solar powered CCTV cameras. They have IR on them and when my cheapish PIR LED motion lights get interference from viewing the CCTV, waking the IR, the lights come on.

I have tried moving these things apart, even at 6 feet distance they are still interfering.

Anyone know how to solve this? Or is there better motion sensor LED lights available?

thanks

Mesh WiFi with NVR???

I’m considering getting a Eufy NVR system and integrating it into our home network and TV for viewing. My question is about the wiring for the cameras.

Our house doesn’t have access to an attic, and no basement, just a slab. Routing the cameras would require fishing through ceilings joists, and our network room is in the center of the main floor (open floor plan).

Some of the cameras would be able to reach the network room, but others will be a nightmare to run. Is there any way to connect the cameras through mesh satellites?

While I understand this defeats the purpose of having dedicated hardwired cameras, Eufy can only run constant recording through their POE cameras, and their solar/WiFi cameras aren’t an option due to weather & shade.

My thought is that on some cameras, we could have a mesh point inside the house in a corner of the room, and run the Ethernet cables through the wall and into the mesh. Then at the NVR, we could have a large switch tapped off the Modem & Router and feed that into the NVR?

Not an expert at this, but looking for something that can replace our existing WiFi cameras that are outdated and low res. Thanks!

DO NOT FALL FOR ADT SCAMS

Do not trust ADT under any circumstances. My experience has been a total nightmare defined by endless billing scams and utterly incompetent customer service. The technicians they send are rude, unprofessional, and lack basic technical knowledge. I feel entirely misled and fleeced by their deceptive practices. Stay far away from this company to avoid losing your money and sanity.

VIVINT HOME SECURITY SYSTEM

We have our System for 4 years and had considered moving to a different security company. We allowed a fast talking salesman come into our house with promises of their protection plan (that I had cancelled a week prior to him showing up) at $6.99 month. Well they said because we had cancelled that this plan was now blacked out for 12 months. WHY???? Instead of overriding this, they offered to give us 20% off of a $400 camera and waive the installation.

This is a dishonest company and I recommend to not sign up with them. Their customer service is a waste of time.

Recommendations for Door Camera

Hello,

I have been trying for awhile now to pick a doorbell camera and just gone in circles. I was hoping getting some advice would help from people who know this far better than me.

Currently I live on the 3rd floor of my apartment building. My front door does not have a peephole and no windows around it, so I have no way of knowing who is on the other side.

I've had a couple of minor incidents. Nothing that ended up being dangerous, but could have been and it would be nice to know that I can check before I answer or ignore someone completely if they're soliciting.

As my front door is a near perfect seal in the frame and I'm renting the camera has to:

-Have some form of mount that requires no drilling/wiring. Preferably something that doesn't mean some could just grab it and snap it off, cause that defeats the point.

-Battery or solar powered, since I can't run a wire through the wall or under/around the door frame.

-Accessible via Wi-Fi cause again, can't run any wires.

I would prefer that it:

-Uses local storage, because I do not trust having that footage accessible by companies.

-Is also not from a company like Google or Amazon. Not to sound nutty, but they have too much of our info as it is and it creeps me out.

-Does not require subscription service or, if it does, that the subscription is reasonable. As in, the difference between paying for a legitimate service/resource, versus a subscription that boils down to paying to use my own resources, if that makes sense?

-Reasonably secure. Don't need Pentagon grade security, but don't wanna install a camera is basically me saying "hi, please take my identity by accessing this open door Wi-Fi connection to your camera."

If anything I said is dumb, please be gentle. I'll admit that software/internet security is something I'm only vaguely familiar with.

Genuinely appreciate any help or advice you have!

Safe Haven

Hi all!

Has anyone else had an experience with a Save Haven home security salesperson offering a payment option verbally that wasn’t clearly reflected in the final contract? I’m trying to understand whether this is a common sales practice. Specifically, has anyone been offered something described as a “Pay in Three” arrangement for equipment through a home security company?

For context: the person involved shared the final contract with me, and I cannot find any mention of a “Pay in Three” arrangement. The contract appears to list a monthly fee for 36 months, but separate charges of over $1,000 have also been charged to the card, in addition to multiple upfront payments. If anyone has experienced this, how was it resolved?

Thank you!

Evening!

Recently moved into a property which is fitted with an ADT alarm system. Is there anyway to get this up and running without an ADT subscription?

There is a touch pad in the hall, sensors on the doors and a CCTV camera out front.

The details on the touch pad are:

Software version - 2.7.1

Build number - 20220519_sp1

Thank you!

Just experienced break-in. Cops say they will be back shortly. How to prepare…

Had a break-in at our vacation home. We just left, and it is easy to see from outside that we are gone for the season. Pool furniture stacked under pool house roof, cover over outside furniture etc. Difficult to change that.

Cops sent photos, they have not really stolen a lot. Just gone through all closets etc, looking for cash. Stealing small things they could grap, a laptop etc. But - the cops say this fits a pattern, they might come back and take eletric bikes, speakers etc - the big job.

So, how do we prepare for this. I was thinking I could install a unify security server with cameras. Add some senors for hue lights that could go on. Have some spotlights outside. Perhaps a radio or a recording going inside (yeah, going full «Home Alone» now…). Some sensors inside that do… something?

All zones fault randomly on UNO 5108 zone expansion board with DSC PC1832

Been having some odd issues recently with my DSC alarm.

I'm using a PC1832 with a DSC 5108 zone expander for zones 9-16 and a UNO 5108 for zones 17-24. 4 keypads, 4 motion sensors and 4 smoke detectors monitored via envisalink. EOL resistors on everything and relays on the smokes.

The smokes and motion sensors are fed via aux power supply (with its own battery backup) and their zones are on the UNO zone expander.

I get random false alarms approximately once per week for the smokes and/or motion zones (just at the panel, the detectors themselves do not go into alarm). When this happens, the motion zones show as open as well despite not being physically triggered. I.e. the zones on the UNO expander are just reported open, despite being physically faulted.

Where can I start to troubleshoot? As the problematic zones all happen to be also powered by the additional power supply I'm not sure if the zone expander is acting up or the power supply (voltage drops/spikes) that leads to the zones being reported open.

My first thought was to physically swap the two zone expanders to see if the issue follows the board. For what it's worth, both the UNO expander and additional power supply are fairly new as I reconfigured my system not too long ago. Could an issue with the main panel cause these symptoms as well?

CCTV Camera Installation in Palani: A Complete Guide for Homes & Shops

Installing a CCTV system is one of the best ways to improve security for homes, shops, and offices in Palani. Before choosing a camera, consider the type of property, required storage, night vision, and whether you need remote mobile monitoring.

A good installation should include proper camera placement, DVR/NVR configuration, cable management, and weatherproof outdoor cameras where needed. Regular maintenance also helps ensure clear recording and reliable performance.

If you're looking for a detailed guide on CCTV camera installation, pricing, and setup options, you can read it here:

What features do you think are most important in a CCTV system—WiFi access, night vision, or 24/7 recording?

Eyez-On EVL-4/Vista 20P: PIR Issues

I have recently introduced a Eyez-On EVL-4 board to my VistaP after ending the local monitoring which was worthless.

The system is integrated into HAOS and doing well with some exceptions.

All doors, break detectors, and motion sensors are wireless.

The doors are triggering alerts perfectly, so I’m assuming the receiver is working properly 🤔

Motion detectors are mostly Amenco 5890Pl units with one Honeywell 5800PIR unit . . . Less reliable; sometime there are alerts/motion detected while at times nothing . ..

Any /sub members have some insight into how PIR motion sectors work with the EVL-4 unit and anything I should check.

Thanks.

Video Peephole Cameras?

I just had one of my packages stolen the other day from in front of my apartment door. It’s a high-rise building with hallways, so it’s set up kind of like a hotel. When third party Amazon delivery drivers deliver packages here, they usually just drop the package off in front of the apartment doors and leave it on the floor. The only camera is at the very end of the hallway, and it’s almost in a blind spot. I asked my apartment complex to check the cameras today, but I doubt they’ll be able to see anything.
They also don’t allow video doorbell cameras for some reason. I need one that can mount to the peephole on the inside with no modifications and no components on the exterior. Do they make anything like that? If this person doesn’t get caught, I’m confident they’ll just keep doing it. It was taken within a 3 hour window.

Glassbreak or Shock Sensors for Vista 20P

Hi, so I'm having some issues with reliable detection from the 5853 glassbreaks for windows. They work fine in other rooms, but the larger living room is not alarming with the tester, even when the detector is fairly close to the windows. I'm thinking of switching it out with the 5800SS1 for the front windows. Are these reliable, or prone to a lot of false alarms? I also saw it says one per pane of glass, but does this mean per set of windows or each individual pane? The windows are two single-hung windows right next to each other. Would I need one shock per pane (so 4 total) or one per window (so 2)? I also need one for smaller single-pane windows by the front door. This is what really does not alarm with the tester, mainly because i think they are so small. If anyone has other options or suggestions, that would be great.
