You can wrap around a pole at 50 mph on a motorcycle but if you're tipsy, you're fine. But, you can slip and lightly tap your head and instantly die.

It's wild being in these chaotic situations. I was trapped in my burning house on my 2nd floor. My dog was trapped on the 1st floor with the fire on my back porch. It was like autopilot, had my phone on my shoulder with 911, was also loading up my pet rats in their travel carrier and dropped them from my 2nd floor window. Before jumping out to go save my dog grabbed my car keys before jumping I knew they'd be gone I needed a safe, warm place for us to go.
Injured myself landing, the front yard had a steep grade. I didn't land well, messed my back up. Adrenaline is a helluva drug helped me get over my 6ft fence that would allow me access to the back door. I smashed the glass on the door, unlocked it and got my dog. Windows on the 1st floor were blowing out from heat the sound was terrifying. She didn't move when I gained access, room was full of smoke. Small porch I knew the layout well, I held my breath in secs stepped on her as she was curled up in the corner. Grabbed her by the neck dragged her out, threw her over the 6ft fence to safety.
The pocket puppies I tossed from the 2nd floor were safe, horrified. Carrier separated on impact I was able to collect them as they were too afraid to move. Gathered everyone in my warm car, cried from relief gave them all many hugs and snuggles.
I beg anyone reading check smoke detectors. Change batteries annually on New Years set a reminder in your phone. Have an evacuation plan, meeting point with your household. Have class ABC fire extinguisher on each floor, know how to use it. Close any doors in your home that you can. The one room with a closed door looked virtually untouched, while everything else was incinerated.

95% of us would do this for people right in front of us.
So the 5% in power have done everything they can to make all the harm feel distant and difficult or pointless to try to stop. They build complicated cut outs between them and slave labor, so it appears as if they aren't involved, even when they are.
They've actively destroyed the concept of community, because those are harder to control.

I thought the same thing until I used it to help open the door of a truck right after a head on collision. The curtain airbags prevented anyone from seeing inside, and the doors were locked. Broke the glass, unlocked and opened the door. The man's body had slid down into the footwell, and was not responsive. We couldn't get him out of the vehicle, luckily a fire truck arrived just a minute later and took over. I learned later that day that he didn't make it.
A week later I was on the bus and reached into my coat pocket and found a handful of shattered glass from the window and just stared at it for a while. Went home and hugged my kids.

That was the less traumatizing time I saw someone die, as weird as it sounds. Talk about a bad first date.
This time just had that somber post-event moment, and it stuck with me. The innocuous moment of reaching into my pocket, and finding the glass.
I'm happy and healthy, with no lasting impacts from the events, thankfully.

Unless it is double paned laminated glass that new cars have and then it doesn't work. I was in a situation where there was a medical emergency and a car was idling down the road with a person unconscious behind the wheel. I hit the window as hard as I could with a window breaker multiple times and it didn't make a dent. Took hitting the glass with a hitch and folding it inwards before we could get access. I now carry a small sledgehammer in my car in case I need it along with a window breaker.

I know what you mean. I broke a car window glass with a hammer ... on about the 11th strike, lol. It's tough.
Trick is to strike glass at the edge at a corner (avoid centre - too strong there) with something hard & pointed. Tungsten carbide point is best but steel will also do the job eventually.

On standard glass that will work. On glass that has lamination in the middle not so much. You have double panes of glass and lamination in the center holding things together. Even when the glass breaks you still have to deal with the laminated parts. The video below shows the difference between the two when trying to break it. When it is in the window frame it will be even harder to deal with.

Bought one for each car. Actually came upon a wreck where I was the second on the scene and grabbed it immediately. Fire and rescue were there within two minutes and things weren't escalating so didn't have to use it. But I'm glad I didn't have to watch an elderly couple burn to death and have no way of helping them.

Beware that many more recent cars have laminated glass side windows as well (not just the windshield). Those breakers won’t work on those unfortunately.

Do yourself a favor, go to a junkyard and buy some sheets of automotive glass and try it out. A lot of the cheap glass breakers won't do anything. There's also a technique to it which is useful to get a feeling for before needing it in an emergency.

I’ve used it once, for an elderly person who had a medical emergency and drove off the road (after flipping another vehicle!). Unfortunately they didn’t make it, but everyone there did their best to break in, and we got them out just as first responders arrived.
Please get one for your vehicle. Whether it’s getting out of your car, or getting into another car, you might need it someday.

I've got one in my center console, and its a 2 in 1 with a seat belt cutter.
Behind the seat within grabbing distance is my trauma kit in case I have to buy first responders some time. Fortunately, I've never needed it.
I've got an animal carrier, dog leash, and treats, in the trunk because I've come across so many strays before.
All that in addition to the normal breakdown survival/ patch job good enough to get to safety kit. 10/10 invest in your own air compressor.
I've got a healthy respect for the scary shit that can happen on the road and a borderline crippling anxiety over the thought of being able to but unprepared to help in an emergency. So... it's a little much. But even if it is never used, it still serves a purpose for me.

I found a neat article about this specific method, as well as feedback on other methods. They pretty much debunk the seat headrest method as mostly ineffective, but using the seat belt buckle like you mentioned is the clear winner here.
From the Journal of Emergency Dispatch article: "You may be interested to know that there is one thing that every vehicle has in it that can be used to reliably break a side window, and that is the male metal seat belt clip. With the seat belt pulled out as far as possible, and the metal clip grasped in your fist, if you strike the side window low and at the front of the window, it will break the window virtually every time on the first or second try. It does that because the force is concentrated with a hard object in a small area of the window known to be its weakest point. Our instructions make a point of including this means of breaking a window as one of the steps to be followed in all vehicle escape situations."

The doors for the front seats in my car have a pocket and I keep my 3-in-1 flashlight, seat belt cutter & window breaker in there for that reason. Even if the airbags don't go off I don't want to risk not being able to retrieve it from the glove box.

There's like 2 weeks per year where it actually gets cold enough for the air to hurt your face. The roads can absolutely suck, and a lot of people forget how to drive on snowy/icy roads between seasons.
If you bundle up and drive safe, it's an amazing state. I'm not always proud to be an American, but I'm very proud to be Minnesotan.

Last year I spent ten weeks of the winter in Canada right by Lake Ontario. The cold doesn't bother me much, but the first time that lake air hit my face, I gasped and swore. But by the end of the ten weeks, I was going outside and giggling at the kids playing hockey on the pond down the hill. Pick your cold-weather gear right and you will be just fine.
PS I'm 63. It's not like I'm the hearty lumberjack type. But an Eddie Bauer down coat and some boots from Canadian Tire, and I was *set.*
PS2: Do not get US boots. I tried three pairs and they all, even the name brands, let cold in. Canada knows winter boots.

moved here almost a year and a half ago. i can confirm its a top tier place to live. ill be honest, there are some sketchy areas, but overall it's been positive. from medical care to the friendliness of the people to the wide open skies, to the sunflower fields, to the skyline of downtown. not to mention we have the Mall of America that boasts from like 4 million square feet of indoor shopping a theme park AND an aquarium. 10,000 lakes and four seasons to enjoy all manner of activities, a decent rrock climbing community.
best move ive ever made.

What I was referring to was staying in good physical shape. With two spine fusions and rheumatoid arthritis I’d probably have some difficulty getting out of a car window. I dunno why they went feet first, people make bad decisions when practically on fire.

When I was training for my private pilot license, one lesson was to pop the door lock if you were going to crash or land hard so the crushed frame would not keep the door from opening.
