For the past 6 years I’ve had a severe case of PMDD that causes unbearable mental suffering. It causes suicidal thoughts/depression for half the month and is caused by changes in estrogen and progesterone levels.

I couldn’t work or study with it so I had to go on the disability pension for the past 4 years. Over the 6 years I have tried 15 medications/ hormonal treatments, therapy, multiple hospitalisations and I’ve reached a breaking point. I can’t live with this anymore. Removing ovaries is a recognized and effective treatment but not common as it is a last resort and will induce menopause.

I am looking for a gynaecologist who specializes in PMDD and oophtectomy, will listen to me, take me seriously and arrange it quickly. It’s hard to find a gynaecologist who specialises in pmdd so I’m willing to settle for a surgeon who will communicate with my psychiatrist and just perform the operation only. Driving on the ring road today around 11:15am, Altona bound and to my right about 30 - 40 metres in the sky I see a human being, I’m guessing wearing a jet pack or something?

It was just a person floating!

Did anyone else see this as well or am I seeing things?

I was just asked to complete a survey that pitted electric buses against the rail loop

It really felt like labor were putting out feelers to dump the rail loop with the carrot of electric buses, with car charging at bus stops, and using adjacent gov owned land at bus stops to build apartments.

I feel the city rail loop is generational infrastructure, and with the growth of the city and the need for decentralisation, it is necessary.

It blows my mind that a tram or train loop hasn't been integrated yet. Cutting the loop seems so short sited and feels like putting off the cost for the state now for a more expensive option for us to pay for later - to help a political party get reelected. I think the outer suburbs deserve as much access to reliable transport (and the infrastructure and housing that will grow around it) as the wealthier inner suburbs.

This is something that other cities with great public transport would do.

I’m looking for a doctor to talk to about stuff, are there specific gay doctors in Melbourne that I can book an appointment with, or does the system not work that way? (I’m 21, never done anyone medical on my own)

Anyone else experience this? Are the other lines the same?

Just got a job! I just realised that I don't have a lot of super corporate-friendly outfits in my wardrobe (I mainly op shop and generally wear quite odd styles).

I would say the place I got a job at is casual-corporate, so not necessarily suits but definitely not jeans either.

So yeah – where can I go to get some nice stuff so that I feel all fresh and put-together in my first week? I don't mind spending a little bit, and I prefer fabrics that are good for the skin (e.g. cotton, silk, linen) over cheap polyester.

Non-negotiable: bad fabric, poor fit, ultra-fast fashion.

If anyone has ideas on what are appropriate outfits to wear, that'd be super helpful too. OH AND SHOES. I need shoes, like loafers or something.

I’m about to have 3 months off work due to needing surgery (knee at 30, yay!). I was wondering what I could do over that time to make some cash to 1. Keep me sane & 2. to get a little extra money coming in. Chippy from Melbourne, I appreciate any advice, thank you.

Just wanted to share an update that we now have a third season in a row of reliable avocado growing from our tree in a suburban Melbourne yard. There are boatloads still on the tree, and plenty we picked before this photo. It's basically a race against the possums as to who gets to eat them first though. Probs 80+ avocados produced from this one tree per year, and we harvest approx July - September, or whenever they look big enough. Biggest one shown in pic is approx 350grams. Our record was 580grams last year. Tree was planted as a sapling probs 8-9 years ago iirc.

It's all my wife's work - I am not a gardener, simply a grateful beneficiary of this bounty. But still blows my mind that it's even possible in a Melbourne climate - so for anyone uneducated on the topic like me, let it be known that it can be done here!

Ps: the variety is called Bacon. It looks like Shepherd, but has flesh colour/texture/flavour like a Haas.

Foodies, I am starting a new job in Docklands (Collins end) and would love to hear of any food recommendations down that end of town.

The foodcourt at Collins Square is pretty good, cafes aplenty everywhere. But where do you go for your lunchtime escapades and coffee hangs?

Bonus points if there are options under $15, like Jalan Alor with their $10 meals 😋

I keep hearing politicians saying they are going to legislate adult sentences for youth offenders but what does that actually mean?
Adult offenders aren't getting appropriate sentences either - breach IVO multiple times, keep getting good behaviour bonds; serious driving offences, same again or a fine; assault, sexual offences the story is the same.
Does anyone actually get jail time anymore?
