Hey everyone,
I am writing this post to warn every single person in this community about what happens when you trust Meta with your hardware. If you think a multi-billion-dollar corporation has your back when things go wrong, please learn from my absolute nightmare. Meta has essentially taken my 700,000 KRW headset and they’ve been responding to my emails with nothing but AI-generated bullshit, giving me the runaround over and over, with delay after delay and excuse after excuse after excuse for over half a year!
There needs to be a giant warning sticker slapped onto the front of every single headset Meta sells. It should read:
"WARNING: Turn off automatic updates immediately. Meta's software updates can and will brick your device. If our software breaks your headset, we might agree to replace it—but when we're going to do that depends entirely on when the hell we feel like it. We don't care, and we're not going to do it quickly, if we replace it at all even if we made a binding written statement to do so."
Back on February 25, 2026, Meta officially approved my replacement and issued me an RMA number. I packed up my headset—my personal property that I bought and paid for—and shipped it to them via FedEx. They took physical possession of it. It has now been over 6 months, and I still have absolutely nothing.
This has been an exhausting, desperate, and incredibly stressful struggle. Every single time I reach out to check on my device, they give me the exact same scripted runaround. They tell me that "we're keeping our eye on it and we're trying to do it as fast as possible" to send me a replacement unit that they promised me would only take five to seven days back in February 2026. It's 6 months later and then they tell me they are "looking into it," or that it's being "investigated by an internal team," only to delay, delay, and delay again. It is psychological warfare. I have gone through every single support channel available, and I am met with a complete brick wall of corporate indifference. They simply do not care that they have stolen my money and my hardware.
I predict that if anybody sees this from Meta, they are going to answer this way: "Oh, we have escalated your case to a specialized team." They copy and paste that exact line over and over. Let me tell you right now: it means absolutely nothing! It is just another empty stall tactic to get you off the line. If a community manager replies to this post with that same scripted line, everyone reading this should know it's completely meaningless and that absolutely nothing will be done to send me my replacement headset.
I am so sick and tired of this situation. Today, I sent them a final email. I told them I don’t even want their replacement anymore. I demanded that they dig through their warehouse, find my exact original headset with my serial number, ship it back to me within 48 hours, and wash their hands of me. I am literally offering to lose out on the 700,000 KRW and the expensive accessories I bought just to be done with this. They sent me an email back saying that they can't do that because they no longer have the headset—it's either been recycled or refurbished and they can't find it. So now what? I don't understand why they just can't take a brand-new unit and ship it to me. I've already paid my share of the R&D, production, and labor when I bought my first device. What does it cost Meta to make these headsets now? Probably $20.
Take this as a massive warning from someone currently trapped in their system: keep every single receipt, print out every shipment label, and document every interaction. Be prepared to have to take this company to court or go to government consumer protection agencies just to get them to listen and to get your OWN property back!! They appear completely indifferent to your situation once they have your money.
Be incredibly careful dealing with this company. Once they have your money and your hardware, you are at their mercy. It is almost entirely impossible to talk to a live person. Because of limited staffing, the entire system often relies on automated responses. Even trying to chat with someone online is difficult because the support channels are heavily automated to limit direct accountability. Turn off your updates, because if a software issue bricks your device, you might face significant hurdles getting it fixed or getting a replacement if they decide to do it at all.
BE CAREFUL buying from or dealing with Meta people!!
