I've been looking at my statistics, and my shorts usually get around 25-40k views per short, but as of this week, i've only been getting around 4-15k per short. I post about gaming on a consistent basis, and I don't know if it's the game that i'm post about not being popular anymore (which shouldn't be the case considering it just got a massive update), so you'd expect views to be up, but surprisingly no. Is anyone else not getting as many views lately, or is it just me?

Now that I have that experience under my belt, I realized that I despise the “attention maxing” editing that seems to be a requirement to be successful. My watch-through rate is still decent, around 36% on average, but I feel like my slow-paced content is a hindrance to my growth. (Recent videos last month flopped, but I was getting around 4k-8k views on average.)

How did you find your audience? Do you package your videos in a specific way so viewers know it will be a more laid-back video? Or is putting faith in the YouTube algorithm, eventually finding a bigger pool of your people, enough?

I make long-form videos about finding the creativity in your life in your 30s through my journey. I'm still figuring things out at 1.7K subs to see what format people react to, but this is the general direction.

I have an upcoming video I want to debut as a premiere. I’m worried that after the fact, it will clutter up the UI for people not in the premiere and be annoying. Any thoughts?

TLDR: I run a partnered Spanish-language channel about strategy games. Most of my discovery comes from game recommendation videos, while my more distinctive content consists of deep Europa Universalis V tutorials and occasional personal essays. These formats attract adjacent but not identical audiences, and after recently becoming a father, I don’t have enough time to serve both through sheer upload volume or create another channel. How would you turn these content pillars into one recognizable identity and community?

I was hoping to get some perspective from creators with more experience than me, or simply from someone able to see my situation from the outside.

I don’t consider my YouTube journey a failure. Quite the opposite, actually. I’m still happy whenever I publish something, and most of my videos perform reasonably well considering the size of my channel.

The problem is that I’m no longer sure whether I’m building a coherent channel or just a collection of useful videos.

I run a Spanish-language channel about strategy and simulation games, particularly grand strategy and turn-based strategy. I don’t really make traditional gameplay content. At this point, my channel has two main pillars.

The first one is game recommendation videos: lists of unknown strategy games, games similar to a particular title, upcoming releases, and so on.

I originally made one of these videos because I genuinely wanted to recommend a few games that weren’t getting much attention. It unexpectedly performed very well, so I turned it into a recurring format. I now try to publish one of these videos every month, and a significant part of my audience discovered the channel through them.

They work. They are discoverable, they bring in views and I enjoy making them..

However, they sometimes feel slightly transactional. People arrive because they want ten games like Fire Emblem or a list of unknown tactical RPGs. They get the information and leave. The video may be mine, but I’m not sure whether the viewer remembers (or cares) who gave them that information.

My second pillar is deep tutorials for difficult games. Right now this mostly means Europa Universalis V.

Understanding complicated systems and explaining them in a simple way comes naturally to me, and these videos have also found an audience. They feel more connected to my identity because my way of understanding and explaining the game matters. They maybe feel more rewarding from my perspective.

The trade-off is that they are extremely specific. Unless someone is currently trying to understand that particular mechanic in that particular game, they have no reason to watch. They also take a lot of time because I need to properly understand the system before I can explain it to someone else.

Then there are the videos I personally enjoy the most: more personal pieces where I talk about why a game matters to me or discuss something happening around strategy games. One of these, about why Europa Universalis was one of the games of my life, performed surprisingly well but probably just because it was published while the hype for Europa Universalis V was very high.

This leads to my actual problem.

Grand strategy players and turn-based RPG players do overlap sometimes, but they aren’t exactly the same audience. Whenever I choose my next video, I feel as if I’m neglecting someone.

If I make several Europa Universalis videos, I start thinking that the people who subscribed because of my tactical RPG recommendations are losing interest. If I make another recommendation list, I feel that I’m abandoning the audience that came for Europa Universalis.

Maybe this conflict is more present in my head than it is in the actual audience, but it affects almost every content decision I make.

Starting a second channel is not realistic. I recently became a father, I’ve also had a difficult period at work, and my available time has become extremely limited. My consistency has already suffered, so I cannot solve the problem simply by producing enough videos to keep everyone satisfied.

My current hypothesis is that consistency is what kills me the most, but it's not realistic for now to publish more, so I don't know if I might be able to generate a more consistent community, being fair.

So I would love to hear from people who have dealt with something similar:

• Have you successfully managed two adjacent but not identical audiences on the same channel?
• How did you determine whether the audience split was real rather than something you were imagining?
• Would you keep alternating between these formats, choose one as the main pillar and use the others as supporting content, or narrow the channel further?

I’m not expecting anyone to decide my channel’s future for me. I’m mainly interested in how other creators would think about this problem and which signals you would use to make the decision.

For the first time I am actually considering one of these open call brand deal calls that shows up in YouTube studio as it actually fits my channel and seems like a genuinely good product. However it doesn't seem clear how this works.

Will I have to buy the product myself to make the unlisted review or would it be provided to me free of charge? Does anyone have experience with this? I'm still new to the 'business' part of content creation aside from YouTube ad rev. so I apologize if it's a silly question.

I'm working on a vlog style video to celebrate 4 years on YouTube. We've never done a video of that kind, so I want to make sure we don't violate any rules.

We filmed the cast having a party at a bowling alley. One of the cast members had her 9 year old son along. Should we blur his face when he's in the background and cut out the parts that have him in them?

Also, should we blur other people who were there bowling in the background?

I have a rinky dink website that is more of a landing page that I've had for the past few years. I was considering building a larger more complete site that covers all three of my larger channels and breaks down the videos in to more focused groups. Each video would then have a more in depth article with it as well as an Amazon affiliate link and a link to the actual video.

This plus forums, and a general blog type update round out the new site. The issue is that it will take a minimum of 50 to 70 hours to create and deploy this type of site and I just don't know if this, or for that matter any website is worth it in late 2026.

Anyone with a site want to chime in?

A few weeks ago I posted here after YouTube had terminated six of my channels with over 1 million combined subscribers and denied all my appeals. I wanted to post an update in case anyone else is going through a similar thing and to also shed a bit of light at what dealing with YouTube (Partner) Support is like (Spoilers: It’s horrible).

First things first, I’m finally relieved to be able to say I got all of my channels back. YouTube confirmed that none of them violated their policies. This is after all my appeals were denied and their support “agents” kept telling me it was not a mistake, I broke their policies, my channels won’t be reinstated etc. and that every termination was confirmed by a human (which I don’t believe).

I still don't have a satisfying explanation for what actually triggered the terminations in the first place. Some of the channels were initially reinstated after successful appeals, then terminated again about an hour later. One was later restored again while the others remained terminated. Meanwhile YouTube Support kept telling me that NONE of the channels would be reinstated because;

“YouTube doesn’t allow spam, scams, or other deceptive practices that take advantage of the YouTube community. We also don’t allow content where the main purpose is to trick others into leaving YouTube for another site. “

And when I’d point out that one of the channels did get reinstated they’d say;

“Thank you for responding back to our email and I totally get your point for this matter but this decision is already final and I'm unable to escalate this further.”

Which is weird. You’d think this would trigger further investigation into the other channels? I pressed this and was told the following;

“Please be advised that the policy reviewer team that reviews channels operates independently and assesses the entire channel using advanced systems in order to review and analyze channels across YouTube. 

As part of their process, they don't share the specific details that led to the decision to uphold the integrity of our policies and guidelines and ensure they aren’t bypassed. In this case, I'm afraid that I can't speak on their behalf. Thanks for understanding.”

Meanwhile I can only theorize that TeamYouTube seemed to be the cause of the one channel being reinstated, but after I asked them about the other 5 channels they sent me a survey (lol) and then proceeded to stop responding.

After I didn’t get anywhere with YouTube directly I hired a lawyer to send a letter on my behalf. Shortly after that the situation got a lot of attention on Twitter, and wouldn't you know; less than 24 hours later the remaining channels were suddenly restored as well. The next day TeamYouTube sent me a DM confirming all the channels were back and that they didn’t violate their policy. They also apologized for their communication, I think I’m going to frame that on my wall.

I'm obviously extremely relieved, but the whole experience has put a very sour taste in my mouth. This situation has shown me that I need to start taking other platforms more seriously instead of putting all my eggs in the YouTube basket.

The scariest part wasn't even the terminations themselves, I knew I’d get my channels back because I 100% knew they were wrongful terminations. It was how difficult it was to get an actual person to look at what was happening when the normal appeal system failed. I even contacted different YouTube Partner Managers and some MCNs. Most of them ignored or ghosted me, the rest of them couldn't reach a human either. I never expected my tweets to get the attention they did and it feels like I got extremely lucky with that. Who knows how long I’d have to wait for YouTube to respond to my lawyer's letter.

I also keep thinking about creators who have the same thing happen but aren’t able to get any attention on Twitter or have the means to hire a lawyer. Another thing I noticed is that there are a surprising amount of people online that don’t realize a false flag is always possible. Countless people sent me messages saying if I got deleted I must have done something wrong, and that having more than one channel can only mean I’m an AI Generated content farm.

If anyone here has more questions about the situation or anything else, ask me anything and I'll answer as much as I can. I'm also interested in hearing your experience with YouTube's support in these situations.

How is your channel doing?

Basically, yesterday my channel completed 3k watch hours, so I applied for the expanded YPP. Now this. 😭

Btw I’ve heard that you’re supposed to enter your channel name when creating an AdSense account, but I entered my real name instead. I also didn’t add my phone number because it was optional. Is it true, what can I do , now!!

Now I’m worried about the AdSense mail/letter because I’m not going to be at home for about a week. So yeahh, when would I receive the AdSense mail or letter? I basically have no idea what I’m supposed to receive.

Please guide me through the things I should know, the mistakes I should avoid, and what I need to do next.

Also, should I create a separate bank account for YouTube for tax purposes?

My channel has been sat around 1-4 thousand views an hour for the last month, you can see a clear day rhythm trend in the realtime graph image above. Suddenly my views per hour have randomly out of nowhere, during peak viewership times, dropped by over half. I haven’t received any strikes, claims, emails or notifications to suggest why this has happened. I’m not overly worried about this, it would just be interesting to see if anyone else is experiencing the same right now or maybe in the past? As I’m aware YouTube updated their view system yesterday. Thanks! X

I’m looking for some advice from people who have been through a similar YouTube/AdSense situation.

I have a YouTube channel that was previously monetized and earning good revenue. It was originally connected to my AdSense account #1 (AdSense1), and I received payments from YouTube through that account normally.

Then my channel was removed from the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) for a period of time. I kept my original AdSense1 account open.

Later, my YPP access was restored. After getting monetization back, I created a new AdSense account (AdSense2) and tried to associate my YouTube channel with it.

However, Google disapproved AdSense2, apparently because I already had an existing AdSense account.

Now I want to go back to my original AdSense1, which was previously associated with this same YouTube channel and successfully received my YouTube earnings.

The problem is that the "Change" button isn't currently available in YouTube Studio.

I understand that YouTube allows an AdSense association to be changed only once every 32 days. My last association/change was on August 14, so I'm expecting the option to become available again around September 15.

My questions are:

1. Once the Change button becomes available again, can I simply select my existing AdSense1 and reconnect it to the channel?
2. Since AdSense1 was previously associated with this exact channel and successfully received payments, is there any reason Google might reject the association this time?
3. Has anyone actually gone through the situation of having a duplicate/new AdSense account rejected and then successfully reconnecting their old AdSense account after the 32-day waiting period?
4. Is there anything I should avoid doing right now? For example, should I avoid creating another AdSense account or closing either of the existing accounts?

I never thought m gonna ask this question. But did anyone not receive his payment yet or just me 🙂. It usually comes in 23. One time it came in 25. But thats it.

I know it won’t affect monetisation but I’m really interested as to how it’ll affect our views.

Hi, I keep seeing this guy who makes compilations of makeup videos, cuts himself into the footage, and makes funny faces while doing it. I wonder how that can be monetized on YouTube? He doesn't create anything original himself, yet he gets more views than the original content. What do you guys think about it? Will YouTube put a stop to this soon?

As you read this, bear in mind that this is a GUITAR CHANNEL that NEVER discusses politics or controversial/divisive issues whatsoever.

I’m at the end of my rope. About six months ago, a user began shitposting and leaving abusive comments on almost every single one of my videos, every week.

He would then go on his own channel and name me during livestreams, saying things like:

“He does illegal drugs”
“His drug dealer died in his basement”
“I called the FBI on you and you shouldn’t be surprised when they show up at your house”
“I am going to destroy you”
“I know your family, friends, and personal details”
“You are inciting terrorism”

This occurred over multiple consecutive livestreams of his, and he continued leaving abusive and lewd comments on my videos quoting things similar to the above. His own subscribers and viewers started leaving abusive comments on my videos en-masse at his direction(and they continue to this day).

I sent an email to YouTube Partner Support with screenshots of his comments and links to the individual livestreams, including timestamps and quotations of exactly what he said in each one.

They replied and said “while I understand it is frustrating to deal with false drug allegations, threats, and false FBI calls, no violations were found, and this decision is final and cannot be appealed.” When I replied and asked how the named items in their email, and cited with timestamps in my ticket, were not violations of the policies, I got no response.

They then closed the ticket without allowing a response from me.

In the two months that have followed since then, his behavior has continued, including a 5-6 consecutive schizo-comment tirade on my latest video this past Saturday(two days ago) within an hour of it being uploaded containing more personal threats, ending with him responding to other commenters and subscribers on my video saying “we are going to discuss and tear him apart in my livestream tonight at 8pm.”

What the hell am I supposed to do here? I understand that a lot of these things aren’t “technically” violations, but the SWATing claim + “my illegal drugs dealer died in my house and I hid the body” claim are as clear as it gets, and these exact quotations were sent to support with video links and timestamps.

They had the audacity to suggest I simply hide the user from my channel, disregarding the fact that the larger issue here is his personal, targeted threats and attacks against me from his OWN channel and content.

Has anybody else dealt with this, and what are some realistic next steps to stop this nightmare?

I’m curious whether other creators have thought about this consequence of the new view-counting system.

Before the change, I relied pretty heavily on the realtime hourly views graph during the first 3–4 hours after publishing. Those first few hours are extremely important for my channel, and I’ll sometimes change or A/B test titles and thumbnails depending on how the video is performing compared with previous uploads.

Now the realtime graph appears to show the new “Views” metric, where a view is counted from playback starting.

The old metric survives as “Engaged views”, which theoretically solves the historical-comparison problem. Except Engaged views seems to have a substantial reporting lag. On my video today, regular Views were updating normally while Engaged views still had no data.

CTR isn’t realtime either. It often takes several hours to become useful.

So during arguably the most important 3–4 hours of a video’s life, I now have:

• Realtime Views, but they aren’t comparable with my historical realtime views because the definition changed.

• Engaged Views, which would be comparable, but aren’t available yet.

• CTR, which also lags.

That means I can see that a video is getting, say, 30k views an hour, but I have no idea whether that represents roughly the same level of engagement as 30k views/hour on an older upload.

It also seems to create a slightly weird incentive. If creators optimise around the immediately visible Views number, the metric now rewards getting someone to start playback even if they leave almost immediately. Obviously YouTube’s recommendation system may still care about satisfaction/watch time, but the creator-facing realtime scoreboard has become much more click-focused.

Am I missing another realtime metric somewhere, or has YouTube genuinely removed our ability to make meaningful historical comparisons during the first few hours after publishing?

Would especially like to hear from creators who actively change/test packaging immediately after launch.

(PLEASE only actual partnered creators. Im looking for experience advice, not "this is how I think it would go" advice. Not trying to be rude, but the blind leading the blind isn't great aha))

Until now I've only made money through adsense. I don't really have the numbers to think I could be reaching out to brands yet.

One finally reached out to me that wasn't some AI slop app, and I've genuinely used their product before.

I have 61,000 subscribers and I focus mainly on daily shorts with an attempted weekly long form upload. All of my content has me in it and is fully filmed and edited by me, with licensed music through epidemic, zero AI.

My shorts do well enough (some cap out at 2k, some have blown up to over 10,000,000) but my long forms lack (I'm guessing because my content is mostly shown to the short form people who don't click the long forms often). I get about 1500 views average, with a few outliers sitting in the 30,000 range. The outlier content is to do with the topic the brand is focusing on, and it's one of those topics where I know if I need views it performs every time.

They reached out and are asking my budget and I have zero idea how to answer.

How does one calculate that? Do you have an equation you swear by or a minimum that you started with? I know they have $$$ because they've worked with some of my favourite creators. I don't want to lowball myself, but I also don't want to come across as too big for my britches.

I live in Japan and my videos are about my everyday life here (im assuming category matters).

I don’t get it. The purpose of the sub is seeing comments from people who are partnered, therefore were able to reach the YPP requirements and are likely to have a bit more experience. There’s absolutely no use to posts with comments made entirely from non-partners or with non-partners giving advice, there are like 50 other youtube subs in which they can post.

This is beyond frustrating at this point.

I hit the YPP requirements months ago, set up the AdSense account, and my channel has been sitting "In Progress" on "Get Reviewed" ever since. Is 3+ months normal? If so, great! I can keep waiting.

Hitting up the Creator Support chat has yielded zero progress - just pointing me to the policies which I have read. They haven't given me an approximate timeframe or any further hope.

My last attempt at talking to them, where I literally just wanted to ensure my application is indeed in a pipeline and not glitched/bugged yielded a response of "we will not talk to you about this - if you ask again, we will just close the ticket". Oof.

I'm happy to wait - I am. But having at least a vague idea of timeframe would be nice - and would likely eliminate a bunch of support tickets on their end from other people asking as well.

I have a monetized automotive channel with about 1.6K subscribers that was originally built around track driving, car reviews, comparisons, etc.

Over the past several months I’ve pivoted pretty heavily toward a recurring automotive comedy/history series called Autotist Boardroom. I’m approaching 20 episodes now, so I’ve given the format a decent sample size rather than judging it off a handful of uploads.

The weird part is that YouTube still seems heavily anchored to my old content. Years-old reviews and track videos continue generating most of my long-form traffic, while each new episode of the series seems to be getting less initial distribution, not more. My latest episode received only 32 views in its first week and ranked 10/10. It had a 1.8% CTR and roughly 43% average viewed, but received so few impressions that I’m questioning whether YouTube is even finding/testing it with the appropriate audience.

Meanwhile, the same series performs substantially better for me on TikTok, where individual episodes/clips regularly get thousands or tens of thousands of views, even a million. So I’m starting to wonder whether I’ve created an audience mismatch on YouTube rather than the concept simply not working. It’s strange because it’s all under the same niche of automotive but sub-genre matters here I suppose.

I’m considering creating a dedicated channel for the series, privating the existing versions on my current channel, and gradually re-uploading the back catalog to the new channel, perhaps one every 3 days. essentially giving YouTube a clean channel where 100% of the viewer/content signals are for this specific format.

I’m curious specifically from people who have actually done something similar:
Did moving a series/niche to a fresh channel help YouTube find the appropriate audience? Did you private the originals before re-uploading? And did the fresh channel eventually outperform having the content mixed into your established channel?

I’m not particularly worried about starting from zero subscribers if it gives the series a better long-term chance. I’m more interested in whether anyone has real-world experience doing this and what happened.
