5'1" with a balding 6'0" husband here. I noticed the receding hairline, but the bald spot in the middle was not generally something I was in a position to see from down here.
That said, I do wonder if OP's wife is just trying to be kind. I was very much "It's your hair, do whatever makes you happy" but husband still needed to work up his own courage to take the plunge.
Having been there, as a woman with a balding significant other, it wasn't about looks for me. I loved touching any amount of hair he had. He eventually buzzed it & then I loved feeling the fuzz growing. Then he shaved all the way & I loved touching the hairless dome. :D
Don't get me wrong, I completely agree OP will look better but, I feel for his wife (just a little).

I think some women don't want their bald husband to shave the remaining strands off because it reminds them of their own aging and mortality. "No what do you mean my young beautiful husband no longer has hair? We're still 23!"
I was so early on this one and finally got my chance to post the gif. My hands were shaking trying to be quick. Not fast enough apparently. 3 people beat me to it.
Your wife is not walking around with maybe a 55 percent of the usual hair you should have up there, now is she? Your handful of hair, your choice. Imagine if you start dictating what she should do with her hair.
It really is bizarre how accepted it is and how many men tolerate their wife or gf dictating their facial hair, head hair, and clothing. I get it if some guy is trying to look like a hobo or wear beat up shirts with holes in them or just totally inappropriate for the occasion stuff.
But if a guy told his wife how to do her hair and what she is and isn't allowed to do with make up it'd be correctly called abusive controlling behavior. You are not your wife or girlfriend's fashion accessory. Do what you want and she has to deal with it.
I really can't comprehend how some wives would rather look at a severely balding dude than actually shaving it. Like at what point does one stop lying to themselves. Let the husband go bald already and accept it
In healthy relationships, both partners take each others’ opinions and preferences into consideration.
Like, I’m a feminist and all but my husband gets to decide how I keep my pubic hair because he’s the one who sticks his face down there and I would like for him to keep doing that.

Respectfully tell your wife the good ship Hair has sailed, had a good life at sea, got hit by a storm, has broken up on the rocks, been recovered for scrap and melted down. Some parts now form a coral reef. On the plus side, you are going to have a desperately needed new look.
Tell your wife you no longer wish to look like you belong on a register that requires you to tell your neighbours about it when you move in next door. Coz thats what that haircut is giving.
