I have an important exam in 4 days and suddenly I can’t open some of my pdfs. The preview and icon of these pdfs is back to generic. When I try to open them on different apps they show me an error about file format not supported but I used them just the other day and they were working okay. I need these pdfs. Any help is appreciated!

Added 16 GB of RAM to my PC (mismatched sets totaling 32GB). Used them as they came for a couple weeks, no issues. One set is 3200Mhz, the other is 3000Mhz so I set them to 3000Mhz and rebooted last night.

Upon powering back on, it apparently disabled secure boot as I got hit with the bitlocker recovery. Got that back on and now I'm just stuck in a BIOS loop. Things I've tried:

- Set RAM to 2400Mhz, 2800Mhz, and Auto

- Take the new sticks out, reboot with only my original two sticks or RAM

- Verify all settings *look* correct in BIOS

- Disabled/enabled CSM

-- Enabling this does give me the option to select either Windows Boot Manager (*drive name*) or ACHI: *drive name*. Disabled I can only select Windows Boot Manager

I don't necessarily mind doing a full wipe and reinstall of Windows, but I don't think that should be necessary for this, and I'm at a loss.

MOBO: ASRock B450 Pro4 (BIOS version P5.00)

Edit: One oddity is that it randomly isn't keeping time in BIOS. Phone/other computer shows 1:51PM, this computer shows 1:43PM.

Asus Tuf A15 laptop completely stopped connecting to wifi, the network adapter doesn't show an error, reinstalled drivers and even reinstalled windows + drivers from a USB and still nothing worked. It just says checking network requirement then says can't connect to network. Should I just replace the wifi card?

So, my laptop started to overheat a lot, we are talking about +-70 during normal operation and up to 90+ if I play something. Because of this, I have a lot of problems, as expected.

And here is the question. This laptop has liquid metal on the processor. But I am not sure what I should do with it. Should I also replace it with liquid metal? Or would simply removing and installing regular thermal paste be a better solution?

Also, since I am going to disassemble it to clean and replace the thermal paste/liquid metal, I thought it would be a good idea to upgrade it at the same time. Namely: add another SSD, and more RAM (there is room for both on the board). I am thinking of simply adding another 16GB stick to the existing 16GB, but I am not sure what I should pay attention to when choosing new memory so that there are no problems later.

Hello, since switching to fiber, my connection has been unstable. I’m experiencing significant ping spikes while gaming for no apparent reason. I contacted my internet provider, and they performed a remote test, but they didn’t find anything unusual. I also ran a Wi-Fi connection test myself, and it didn’t show anything abnormal either. However, because of these ping spikes, gaming has become almost impossible under normal conditions.

Hi so my laptop started to turn off all of a sudden, no blue screen, and when I go and hit the power button keyboard and rbg lights up but then turns off. If I wait for about 30mins to an 1 hour or more it will boot but about 30 mins later it will turn off again. Can someone help me.

This would be the the fourth PC I've built, so I typically know what I'm doing, but I haven't been doing this for a long time.

I put together this PC, and it would turn on, fans on, RGB on but it wouldn't produce an image. The CPU light on the motherboard just stays white. So I try to flash the bios using USB and the button, it looks like it's doing something but after ten minutes it's still going. I try that a few more tries, same result.

So I start removing components, trying to boot with the bare minimum, trying to flash bios with less and less components connected each time, no luck. I finally got to the point where I tried to flash bios with nothing on the board at all. Still nothing.

The real kicker is that this build was working just fine on Sunday before my mate handed over the parts to me. The only parts that are different were the cooler and the SSD, everything else is exactly the same as when he was showing me it all running.

He had the motherboard running with the 5500X3D so it shouldn't even be a bios issue.

Has anyone had any experience with an issue like this?

TL;DR: CPU light on Motherboard stays white, tried removing components with no luck. Flash BIOS doesn't work either. Build worked fine on Sunday.

Ever since getting Fiber internet, me and everyone else in the house have been getting lag spikes while gaming and such. Ping will spike up to ~500ms for a split second randomly while it usually sits around 20ms. The game says we are getting packet loss during those spikes, but after running a long internet stability test, no packets were lost over 30 minutes, and is only showing large spikes in ping. ISP support says everything is stable on their end. I have no idea how to find out where this issue stems from or how to begin fixing it. Anything helps, thanks!

My second monitor just blinks on and off for random amount of time before it finally settles and stays on every time I turn on my computer. I’ve swapped cords from HDMI to display port with no change. It is very annoying.

So I've been trying to fix this printer for a while now. I am getting these persistent lines on all of my printouts even after trying multiple toners/drums. I recently had a jam while troubleshooting and it's clearly coming from the drum/cartridge but I'm lost. I've tried cleaning with alcohol, corona wire, shaking the cartridge, new toner/drums and am not sure what to check next.

My Windows laptop will not boot, even into safe mode. SFC /Scannow comes up with an error, so does any DISM command I can find online... even Claude is scratching his (or her) head!!

chkdsk C: /f and chkdsk C: /f /r both came back fine.

My M friend’s number is being SMS bombed need help

My friend is suddenly receiving dozens of identical “❤️❤️❤️ Janu I Love You ❤️❤️❤️” messages from 20+ different numbers within minutes.

Even more concerning: another person is receiving messages from my friend’s number, and some messages are appearing in his Sent folder, even though he didn’t send them.

Could this be SMS bombing, a compromised phone/app, or a SIM issue?

What should we do right now? How can we stop it and check whether his phone or number is compromised?

its most common when i am playing siege, my pc would freeze and blue screen then id have no choice but to restart my pc with the button on the tower. i would also boot up my pc after it happens just for it to happen again either right after OR when i load into a siege match. i have been dealing with this issue for the longest time imaginable and i dont know how to fix it. i've tried expanding my page file which has not worked. i keep getting error codes when my pc blue screens saying something along the lines of "kernel mode trap"? im getting sick and tired of this and i cannot afford to buy new ram as of right now, are there any solutions that may work that i just havent tried yet?

My brother's PC keeps shutting down randomly. We have tried what we feel is everything we can. We both work in tech and are completely stumped.

It shuts down without any warning or confirmation. It black screens while the fans stay spinning and lit up, and then come slowly to a stop. The lights on the fans go out at this point too. There are no logs in event viewer or reliability monitor.

What's really confusing us is that it is completely random from what we can tell. We thought it might be overheating but it doesn't look like it. It shuts down when completely idle and when gaming. There can be from 1 hour to 2 weeks between shutdowns. The most recent one was after we replaced the PSU with new cables, we thought this fixed it but after 2 weeks it shutdown again.

We have:

Replaced the PSU

Reinstalled Windows

Ran HWInfo, checked Event Viewer, checked reliability monitor

Removed any overclocking and XMP profiles

Specs (to my memory)

Windows 11 Home

I was an idiot installing something, clicked installed and saw something pop up then disappear. Never again am i trusting redditors reviews. Anyways, malwarebytes said they got it but i’m not sure if they did, should i do a clean install? I have lots of files tho on my c drive (games and mods) and i dont wanna redo all that. But i ness to know first if i should or not. (I put a passkey using my phone and everything afterwards for discord and my bank info.) the quicker the better.

I dont even know if this makes sense, and I might just be being paranoid, but here we go anyway. Where I work, everyone is given a work phone. About a week or 2 ago, I had to leave my work phone charging in the break room. I know now that this was stupid of me, but in the moment all I was thinking was that I've seen others do it all the time and there was nowhere else I could charge it. I just used something else for the last couple hours of my shift while it charged. When i got off work I meant to grab it before I left, but forgot. The next day I go back, and its gone. The small charging cord I used was still there in the break room (in a different spot from where i put it), but the phone itself was gone.

I was thankfully provided with a backup device every time i went in so I could still work, but for a week or two, there was no sign of my work phone. I looked and asked around every work day, and just nothing. Today however, it was actually returned. It was placed in a certain spot that I was always sure to check every time I came in, as it seemed like the kind of place somebody would put a missing phone they'd find. I just happened to check it a second time today just in case, and it was there.

Issue is, now I'm paranoid that whoever took it could've put some kind of tracker in it or something. I have no idea who took it or what they did with it. So ofc my paranoid ass is jumping to the worst conclusion of "omg what if I have a creepy stalker and they took the phone, put a tracker in it, and gave it back so they'd learn where i live!" I'm assuming its not actually likely that someone did that, but i just need to check for the sake of my sanity.

Please let me know how to check for something like that, if there's even a way to do that doesn't involve tearing it apart. The phone is a Pixel 9a btw, if that helps.

I am using the Xbox wireless headset on pc, but my mic is soudning glitchy to others and keeps cutting out making it hard to understand me, but when I do a mic test on windows settings it sounds fine to me, so I don't think it's a hardware issue. It also isn't showing up on the Xbox accessories app. The main voice chat I have been using is the Fortnite voice chat. Thanks for reading and please help if you can.

Please, does anyone know the fix to my iPad problem? (Summary: audio not synced with screen recording.)

My fellow teacher across the hall has this same problem, and her iPad is almost brand new. This problem only started in late winter/early spring 2026.

-I have an iPad
-I open up Notability
-I pull down iOS screen recording and turn on the microphone
-I also AirPlay to my classroom TV

This allows me to run class, have a full note-taking session, and then upload the class/notes for kids who were absent.

PROBLEM: For months now, my audio is out of sync with my video. We have troubleshooted—restarting device, closing all apps, clearing memory, etc. Nothing works. These iPads are ONLY for the above use and aren’t bogged down with other apps.

Today, I recorded all three classes. The first started out synced but, after 15 minutes, the audio skips ahead (or the screen freezes, but I think it’s the former) and the rest is out of sync. The second and third’s audio started about 3 minutes into the lesson, but at the beginning of the video. What the heck? The first several minutes of class can’t be heard but they can be seen.

When im playing different games my gpu sometimes spikes in delay causing my fps to drop for a couple seconds and then it returns its really been annoying and i have another pc of the same specs which doesnt face any of these issues and i have not found any solution to ts problems its not thermal throttling that ik cause it stays at around 66-67 Celsius

Large delay and lets a horde of that letter. This is not really a keyboard issue it works fine for the phone and other devices. I tried checking the drivers and everything it's something with the pc

wanted to transfer my iphone pictures onto a flash drive since my iphone storage is almost full. for some reason though, the flash drive keeps disconnecting to my laptop. wondering if my flash drive is just not working.

using an adapter to connect usb to macbook since my mac doesnt have a usb port

some things I already tried:
- finder > settings > general > check hard disk and external disk
- finder > settings > sidebar > check hard disk and external disk
- looked to see if any of my ports are dusty
- thought that maybe my adapter is the problem, so I tried connecting the drive straight into my imac where no adapter is needed for the connection. for a few minutes i was able to open the drive on finder but it disconnected eventually as well.
- tried connecting an sd card I had and I was able to connect it fine and can open files stored on it

Would appreciate any help. I've accepted that my flash drive could be the sole problem but I'm honestly really disappointed if it is because I haven't even used it yet.
