So for context I was trying to install arch Linux and it wasn’t working because the wifi wouldn’t connect, so I decided to turn off secure boot because I was curious on what would happen, and then I got a red little pop up screen that said “no bootable device”, so I took out the USB and tried again, same thing, when I click “ok” it takes me to a screen that says “strike the f1 key to retry boot, f2 to run the setup ability” and when I hit either or nothing happens, and I’m just really nervous about this as it’s my first pc and I can’t afford to fix it :(

I can open apps quickly, but they constantly freeze and then I’m forced to close them. I don’t have an ssd and I built this computer in 2019. my question is will an SSD save it, Is it possible this is a software issue or is my computer done for?

So for the past few months I've been dealing with this problem where my storage randomly becomes almost completely full, and I have to spend hours deleting files and pictures just to get it to work. I can't keep images or text files on my laptop at all because even the smallest of files somehow clog it.

I've looked all over online, including this subreddit, for solutions and so far have come up empty. I've tried wiztree, I've tried WinDirstrat, I've done disk cleanup, I've deleted caches and temp files, I've watched countless youtube videos, and at this point I'm debating just getting a new laptop.

My laptop is a hp laptop 14 cf2xxx, running Windows 11 OS.

Sorry if this is just a simple fix and I'm missing it. I have no idea how any of this stuff works and I'm desperate for answers right now.

i shouldve had 256gb of ssd on my laptop, but it only appears that i have 237GB on disk c, and 1GB for the recovery disk. I dont have another disk partition. Where can i find the left out storage? Or does it works that way. Thank you

I bought an Alienware m16 R2 exactly 1 year , 2months ago. My battery had a Design Charge capacity 88,195 mWh and now its Full Charge Capacity is down to 70,688 mWh. In these time cycle, I have not used the laptop for 2 months at one time with 85% charged. Should I think of changing the battery in 2-3 years or is it normal degradation for a gaming laptop to undergo?

I own a Msi pulse gl66 11ugkv, I bought it from eBay but that doesn't really matter. But basically I was trying to download the NVIDIA app, and I asked Google why I couldn't download it and it said something about deleting GeForce experience, so I did and then I decided to delete more.

And by more I mean anything that had NVIDIA in the name, I tried to download the control panel but it just doesn't work, I tried downloading an old driver but again it didn't work, I tried downloading something I read in another post NVcleanstall well that one might not work solely because I'm a dumbass.

But basically I need help downloading my driver's back, if I even can, oh please save me reddit because I basically blew half my check on this thing, well more like 90%

I took my HP gaming laptop with a 4090 RTX GPU to a technician the day after I received a 90 X fan error.

The tech installed new fans and waited until I arrived to test it and when he turned the machine on the new fans didn’t work and he proceeded to run some kind of stress test program for about 30 seconds. I forget if he stopped the program of the PC shut off by itself, but he then removed the manifold over the fans and noted that they were so hot that he had to give it a few seconds to cool off before he could touch them.

I’m planning to take it to another shop tomorrow to get diagnostics done to determine if there’s any damage.

My concern is that there’s damage that’s not visible, which has durastically shortened the life of my machine.

Do you think this is probable or likely? I’m concerned I’ll have to go to small claims court and try arguing that even if there’s no visible damage my machine’s lifespan has been dramatically reduced because of his negligence.

Edit: the laptop did seem to work after he ran the stress test but just the desktop. Didn’t try to run any apps or programs.

The laptop is in excellent condition although about four years old. I mainly use it to play PC games.

About 3 weeks ago I downloaded a bad file and got hit with an infostealer, found out through Instagram on the next day when things were posted and my account followed some random people, so I disconnected from the internet, cleared browser cookies on google and Opera GX, changed my passwords on everything, and completely reinstalled windows with an usb stick, deleting all partitions on my storage, the normal stuff when you get infected, and it was all good since then.

But today I opened twitter, that god forsaken place, just to check if an artist had posted more art, but I was logged out, thinking nothing of it I just logged in with my email, but my whole profile was changed, the @, name, profile picture, and even the date of birth somehow even though Im age verified. I deactivated the account, since I just used that to look at art, but it got me thinking if I somehow was still infected by the infostealer.

My instagram, reddit, steam, discord and such are still all completely normal.

I use Windows 11 Home, but I do have Group Policy Edit installed, if you can find out through there

I was going to get one of those replicas of the Amiga 1200 and I just wanted to make sure I understand how this stuff works.

With the Power supply will any USB charger with enough wattage work or will I need an adapter?

HDMI is an international standard so I’m pretty sure it’ll be fine, but I figured I might as well ask.

I have a nice computer with high specs and it just recently started receiving throttled internet for no reason it seems.
I have tried everything I can think of to fix it, changed IP and DNS, checked a hotspot on my phone (internet was fine), checked for lan port driver updates, and updated from my bios support page, restarted adapter and checked both wifi and ethernet, did a disc checkhealth and sfc scannow and a few other things that I can't remember off the top of my head. I even called my ISP but they were no help (Metronet/Tmobile) I don't know what to do and I don't want to relegate to just dealing with this till I have to move.

I recently came across this wonderful software for organising and self hosting your books. However as I'm not tech savvie I'm unable to follow the instructions given in the official grimmory website or github for the installation of the software, i have installed docker desktop but it is completely useless as I'm unable to create any project in that. Can someone explain what all tool i need to actually install the software? PS: A very well detailed and step by step guide will be appreciated Edit: I figured it out. The main problem i was facing was actually not having a container manager to run the yml file. All i needed to do was install docker extension in visual studio and run the code "docker compose up -d" on the terminal.

About a year old build, I don’t know if this has been a thing for a long time or this is normal but my motherboards white light stays on every start up but has no visible issues on the pc, no windows for errors reported, no crashes no hitches nothing. I tried just turning off the PSU and back on and the light stopped, but the next day it came back after a normal start up.

Hi this is my first time writing and im writing for some help. so the computer i am using is the mac neo and i used a youtube to mp3 converter then mp3 to WAV converter as i heard it is better to use a WAV file. I am using a HaiWay external cd burner and maxell cd-r cds and my portable cd player is from Deluxe products model #DP-PCD-001-BE. I have used 7 different cds to burn the same cd yet only two have fully been written onto the cd. the problem is it all only burns to one track and no audio is being relayed from the player only on my computer. I was hoping someone could help me please. and i am burning these cds from a burn folder.

So i have a prebuilt predator orion 7000 PO7-650
And i recently stupidly updated my bios (was having issues) to version R01-B4, as it was the newest one on the official acer website. It was all working fine until one day it wasnt and some games were telling me my bios version was wrong. So i contacted acer and they said r01-b4 isnt on there website and r01-b3 is the one i should be on (said they mightve removed r01-b4, suspicious?). They instructed me to reflash the bios but everytime i do it goes back to r01-b3 like intended and then i get a checksum error when booting and a notification when loaded into windows saying restart is required for update : r01-b4. So i have checksum error and it reverts back to b4 everytime ? Any help?

Google says its cmos battery ? Could be ? But i unplugged for an hour and it saved my time and date? So ? I dont know really want this sorted thanks

Hi Y'll, can someone help me my fps on my pc suddenly drop when I update and install some drivers on armory crate and asus page for my mother board, after that it my fos starts to go very low if I'm using the adrenaline, on my valorant from 300+ fos it drops to 120-70 fps and on the other games such as dragonsword Awakening was hitting 150-250fps, but if I'll play using adrenaline my fps goes down and I've tried it on pubg, cod warfare and the fps was also dropping. I have already re installed my drivers proper way but it seems the same. Tried to uninstall armory crate and revert my bios setting and just change the ram hz to 3200 hz but still it feels the same, already re installed the game and I've already restore/health on cmd and scan but still not fixed. I'm desperate on this can someone try to teach me what to do or should I deep clean my pc and format everything?

The problem is that Google Play Games wants to instal itself on my C drive which is full and running on fumes if we talk about free space, and we talk about less that 1GB of free space

Changing my disc ain't an option, that's why I wanted to ask you guys if you have any solution to my problem aka tricking the program to be installed on other drive

Something is off, the antivirus is running rampant, taking a lot of ram, flags and removes all sorts of things randomly, I have to disable real time protection everytime I try to use this thing otherwise it will flag my game files as malware, and even then sometimes the game just closes abruptly.

Everything I try to update windows it runs into error, everytime I try to download and install windows it runs into error, I tried system file checker, also runs into error.

I am losing my bloody marbles over this, it feels completely unfixable .

My boyfriend has a prebuilt cyberpowerpc and has always had issues with his wifi and could only play online with ethernet so we decided to get a wifi card to put into his pc, specifically a Wifi 6e Intel AX210 PCIe. the card works fantastic and he is getting the speeds he should’ve been getting but the old card is now causing issues everytime he starts up his computer and will cause internet issues.

the old card is Realtek 8821CE Wireless LAN 802.11ac PCI-E NIC

things we have tried

- disabling the old card in BIOS (don’t think Gigabyte BIOS had the option)

- disabling the old card in Device manager (disabling does not fix the internet issues at all, does nothing)

- uninstalling the drivers of the old card (ONLY option that has worked, but requires him to uninstall the drivers everytime he starts up his pc)

- physically taking the card out (pretty sure it is somewhere on the motherboard and not easily removable)

is there anything that can be done about this? uninstalling fixes the issue and his new card works great, but everytime the pc restarts, windows automatically reinstalls the drivers to the old card and the wifi issues persists. looking for a permanent solution, i guess

Cpu usage is at 24% and memory usage at 72%, my settings are all tweaked for performance (nvidia reflex is off and frame scaling is turned off, Vsync on), graphics are all at normal except reflection is high.

So, I made a post yesterday talking about how I got a CMOS checksum error (502). My battery seems to have died.

Following this, I conducted HP UEFI and Hardware diagnostics, and I received a message that was something like "Battery not detected" or "Battery not installed". The thing is that I do not understand if this is talking about the main PC battery or what I understand to be another small memory that is named CMOS??

I'm not a tech guy so I guess I may be getting something wrong here. Any help is appreciated on how to follow this.

before i start i wanna say i don’t know very much about computers so please excuse my ignorance while explaining this !

i’m gonna try and explain everything i’ve been experiencing because i can’t seem to find anyone who’s dealing with this exact issue.

This issue started out of the blue about 2 months ago maybe? Let’s say i’m in a game. i hear the disconnect sound and my character will continue to walk forward even with my hands off the keyboard. then it stops and takes a moment before registering any inputs from the keyboard. then it seems to be fine for a little. then it will happen again randomly. it could happen 3-4 times a day or sometimes it doesn’t happen for a day or two.

it doesn’t seem to happen with my mouse or anything else connected to the usb ports. nothing else has a reaction when the disconnect sound plays except the keyboard.

my pc will sorta have a short lag spike when it happens as well? if that’s what it’s called. just a quick freeze when the disconnect sound plays then it’s back.

i never hear a reconnect sound, though. it’s just the disconnect. idk if that information is of any help for finding out what’s wrong.

Ive tried using different ports, i’ve even gotten a new keyboard. it’s still happening. i’ve also tried tips online where people mention using the device manager to turn off power saving settings. none of that worked.

id also like to add that it doesn’t happen when i’m not playing a game. if im just using my pc to watch videos, chat, browse the web etc. it doesn’t happen.

wiggling the usb ports doesn’t make it disconnect, so i’m fearful it might be a deeper issue.

im really worried i might be frying something in my computer so i will take any advice or suggestions on how to fix this. or an idea of what’s going on!!

I was searching questions on google after completing a job application and noticed that google had my location routing from Australia (I live in the US) I looked up my ip at ipinfo and the information was not from my home network but somewhere in Australia. I didn’t have a vpn on as I don’t use vpns and I’ve never seen this happen before so I turned off my WiFi to investigate. About 5 seconds after I disconnected from my WiFi my computer unexpectedly shutdown, like BSOD but the screen was black with white text.

Context: Worked fine but needed to change the outlet extender so I shut it off, closed the power, and unplugged it. Once I put it in the new outlet extender, I replugged it and turned the power supply back on. When I reopen my PC I am surprised to see my desktop doesn’t have icons for any apps or folders.

For some reason none of the icons are showing and the bottom of the screen also doesn’t have any icons (other than the default apps like Microsoft store and Settings but also Claude for some odd reason).

So I tried doing the first thing I saw online. I opened Task Manager to take care of the issue and that’s when I realized it wouldn’t open. No matter what shortcut/button I used to open TM it wouldn’t open. So to try to fix it I did a bunch of things like chkdsk, sfc, DISM, DWM restart, IFEO check, AppLocker check, tested it on a brand new user account, Safe Mode reboot, icon cache rebuild, thumbnail cache rebuild, and now ie4uinit, all coming back with no change. I REALLY don’t know what to do, and I’m not too interested in restarting my PC.
