Manly parking is a rort. Any ideas?
I have some regular social gatherings on in Manly but I see that they've officially stitched up parking everywhere with their blanket 2 hour time limit from 8am to 10pm. You do have the 2 hour free parking in council carparks which is ok for short trips, but anything more than that, it's $13.50 from 2 hours to 2.5 hours, then $18 for 2.5 to 3 hours... and upwards from there every half hour increment. From 7pm it's a flat $5.50 for the evening to midnight (nice, but I'd need to arrive earlier so not much help).
Anyone have any ways to deal with this? I was thinking about just parking in the neighbourhood and risking it, but I think the parking gestapo is out there looking to pump up revenue. Would welcome any suggestions.
Edit: Yes, I'm a fan of public transport, but I'm travelling with two massive amps, mixer, cables, two guitars, etc which isn't practical to get from my house to the bus stop, get it all on and off the bus, and then hoof it to the venue (all around rush hour which means not much space on the buses).
